Thank you for the wonderful videos! When I was young a friend and I hiked from Holland Lake to Upper Holland and back in a day. There was still ice on part of Upper Holland. It was late June of 1982. The area was less used back then. Cheers!
Did this exact hike in early July this year and had to detour the last part back to upper Holland lake because of impassable snow! Still a super fun weekend!!
That is great! I wouldn't have wanted to do that last trail if there was snow on it. Could've been really sketchy. I hope to get back there at some point and do a much larger loop.
Looks like great fun was had, despite the smoke! Thanks for all the effort of making this video; I've got to learn that animated map trick -- very cool!
There are a bunch of ways to do that map stuff. Some easier than others. It's too bad that the trip was so smoky, but I guess I'll have to go back to get some of the views I missed.
@@mountainwanderer lol. BET Rob Zombie hikes like he is more human than human. Fun fact which is a song about Blade Runner. The Tyrrell Corporation built replicants that were more human than human.
Been through this whole country.......horseback. Shaw Creek Guard Station had railroad spikes driven into the logs around the window, interlaced with barbwire to keep the Grizzlies out.
Great video. I am going to the Bob this summer. I am curious to know if you saw any bears on your trip to the Bob or if you have any idea how common bear encounters are in the Bob ?
Thank you! We didn't see any bears on this trip, but check out my Chinese Wall video. In the description is a link to skip right to the part where we had a bear encounter. Bears are there for sure. Take the proper precautions with your food.
Great video Travis! Really nice editing. It's a shame you had to deal with the smoke. I've seen lots of people create a map with the moving line of the hike. How do you do that? Is it an app that records motion as you shade in the trail"
Is the smoke constant out there now? It sure messes up the view. Does it stay high enough overhead so that you are not breaking it? Still a great vid despite the smoke.
I haven't been out there since our trip, but I'm willing to say that the smoke is gone. There were a bunch of fires to the west at the time that we were there.
@@mountainwanderer Thank you. Yes , I am going there for the entire month of August. I am planning out my routes now but still haven't decided on where to start or where to go. Do you have any suggestions on what to see while I am there?
Made it out there two summers in a row in 98 and 99. Many good times had on upper Holland lake. Trout were good too. We had a scare one night thinking a bears snout was on my two youngers brothers tent wall. After getting me awake in my tent I look out with a flash light and it was a mule deer rambling thru camp
Something about the smoke makes the eerie and majestic - love it 😊
It was a bit eerie and added a bit, but it also took away our views of the Bob which I was really looking forward to.
Great trip! To bad about the smoke. Bob Marshall Wilderness looks awesome no mater what the weather or conditions are.
It’s true, the Bob is awesome. I am going to have to come back again and see the views in their full glory.
Really enjoyed this one, smoke and all. Thanks for the virtual tour out of the Holland Lake Trailhead.
This trip wasn't all about the views... but it would've been nice to see some of it without the smoke.

I would've loved to have seen what it looked like then!
Wonderful trip! Loved seeing the pups - especially the little one! Beautiful country despite the smoke! Really enjoyed the music! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! The pups definitely enjoyed themselves on this trip!
Thanks for another enjoyable video. Loved seeing the map. Thumbs up!
Right on! It's something that I've been wanting to do for a while. Hopefully I'll be able to do some better stuff as I learn the software!
I did this hike years ago. It is awesome to re-live it with your video. Well done!
I hope that your views were a lot better than ours!
@@mountainwanderer haha yeah they definitely were
That looked like an excellent trip. What beautiful country. Thanks for the video. Take care and stay safe, Al
It was a great trip! Thanks for checking it out!
Love that area. The view to the west of the Mission Mountains is spectacular, when there isn't smoke!
I figured that was the case. I hope to get back here again. Most likely with you, Eric & Joey!
Pretty awesome views in the Bob Marshall Wilderness!!!👌❤
They weren't too bad considering how much smoke there was. Thanks for checking it out!
Mountain Olympics 👍😂
Good times all.
Thanks for the video.
The Mountain Olympics, a sacred pursuit of the Wanderers! Thanks for checking it out!
Great to see a new video! Been busy researching Wind River Range if border is open next july.
Bob Alberta
Hopefully they will open the borders!

Awesome video. Like the new map system yiur doing. Also I did not no your hiking buddy was ROB ZOMBIE. cool.
We run in strange circles...
@@mountainwanderer lol. BET Rob Zombie hikes like he is more human than human. Fun fact which is a song about Blade Runner. The Tyrrell Corporation built replicants that were more human than human.
We could use some more human than human folks around right now...
Been through this whole country.......horseback. Shaw Creek Guard Station had railroad spikes driven into the logs around the window, interlaced with barbwire to keep the Grizzlies out.
We didn't see much bear sign, just the one set of tracks. Could've been because there were so many people in the area.
Grew up there and been up on those trails many times. Usually get to Big Salmon Lake on my first day
How awesome! I would've loved to have called that place home!
@@mountainwanderer Ya we would do a 4 day loop from Holland to Pyramid. Living in Seeley Lake was the best
I don't doubt that! I'll get back there at some point, so many great routes to do!
It is beautiful my family owns a cabin at the lake and we go there 2 times a year it’s beautiful
I might make it full time if I had a cabin there!

There are a bunch of ways to do that. I used an app called Motion. It's similar to After Effects. It was easier than I thought to create that effect.
I saw some casting but no catching. Weren't there any fish to be had?
Not much catching was done. I think there may have been one or two fish, but we didn't get any of that on camera.
Are those cold steel throwers I see there
Yes sir!
What dice game do you guys play?
It's a game we call Ziltch, or I've heard it called 10,000

@@mountainwanderer Travis, are you interested in getting any more of my pics? I am glad to send them but I don't want to bore you to death. :)
@@tsjay49 you bet, send them on
@@mountainwanderer Will hit you with a few at a time
@@tsjay49 That seems to work. My internet connection is poor... terrible... but a few at a time is working. Thanks!
Can you please tell me the name of the trail head you started at for this hike ? Thank you.
We started at the Holland Lake trailhead
@@mountainwanderer Thank you very much for responding
My pleasure! Have fun if you’re going in there!
@@mountainwanderer Thank you. Yes , I am going there for the entire month of August. I am planning out my routes now but still haven't decided on where to start or where to go. Do you have any suggestions on what to see while I am there?
I only know the couple areas I’ve been to. It will be incredible to spend a month there!
What an amazing place! We've had some mule deer getting pretty comfortable around camp, but never pushing on the tent!
What is the name of your dog?
There were 3 so I’m. It sure which one you’re talking about but their names are Boomer, Douchen and Luna
It is just way different with cabins and boats 🚤
I never got to see it without the cabins or boats, but I can see why people would want to move there, amazing country!
@@mountainwanderer thanks and it’s is just beautiful my mom has actually sunken a speed boat there when she was 12
What I mean by the comment is I do have the boats I am one of the boaters 2 pontine 2 jet ski 1 speedboat
You're lucky then! Cabin right on the edge of the BOB!
