Landing in Cusco has indeed been one of my scariest landings ever! The views before landing are amazing and breathtaking ! The very sudden and steep descend was crazily fast !!
The altiplano is a term is spanish for A large plain in Hight altitude , I think that's why the wind can be a serious factor for aborting landings in cusco or at any altiplano in the world.
Ya this brought me back to my flight into Cusco years ago. I most certainly had white knuckles. The approach is scary as hell if you are at all squeamish about flying.
You are right. For a trained flight crew, this is a normal landing. But it is considered to be a high risk approach, because of the high terrain and high landing alitutude. You have to constantly watch your height above the terrain and have to have visual contact with the runway, well above it. These are reasons, why they build a new one, Chinchero Airport.
I landed there earlier this year and we had to do a go around - very scary. I have flown hundreds of flights over the years and that was one of the top 3 most dangerous landings I have ever experienced. The turbulence was wicked and coupled with the tight quarters and high altitude, almost gave me a heart attack, haha! What a thrill ride - but once is enough!!
Most dangerous approach I can think of is landing at paro. The runway is super short at only around 6,000 feet long at an elevation of 7,000 feet. You are surrounded by high mountains, and you have to make a series of sharp turns just for an immediately short final to the runway. The takeoff is also hard as you need to make it airborne off of such a short runway at a high elevation and try to gain altitude to get out of the valley without hitting the mountains.
I've flown into this airport twice... The first time it was much like the experience of this video, the second however scared the living crap out of me and almost everyone who was aboard the flight. Great videos and thanks for the upload!
The Approach was... BREATHTAKING!!! The landing was very professional and the touchdown so smoooooth... The Captain has done a very good job! This Video is outstanding! Thx for sharing with us & greets from Germany, Dantorp.
I went there during my travel to Macchu Pichu. Such a view in the landing , sometimes the plane shaked a lot. Although it was amazing. The pilots have incredible experience.
Vaya suerte volando con cielo semi despejado, yo volé de Lima a Cusco en mal tiempo por la zona de montaña para llegar a Cusco e incluso llovió en Cusco y tuve que esperar a que parara un poco para salir del aeropuerto.
Great video, the approach is very similar to that of Innsbruck, Austria; through the valleys, mountains on the wing tips with a 180 turn to land! Thanks!
Ok, it’s the approach and traffic pattern legs; downwind. base, and final..nothing dangerous about that. Very scenic..! It must be a blast to actually fly the airplane down that valley.!!
I flew on a plane to Cusco and it was one of the scariest landings I’ve experienced. The scariest was flying in dense clouds over the Andes Mountains to land in Santiago, Chile.
The first time I flew out of there as a passenger. I didn't think the pilot was ever going to lift off. It seemed like he used all the runway. It was a long time ago and I was in a 707 flown by Avianca. It was a scary experience.
in Sucre Bolivia the old airport Juana Azurduey de Padilla had an approach in between mountains the whole way then a hill right in front of the runway look it up
I just did this a few weeks ago. The plane did a steep banking to the left to do a U turn around the mountains. Luckily, I was on the left side of the place to see the spectacular view. It was the most amazing approach I've ever seen.
Good video, sadly you're inflating your currency with the title. It's day VMC. Show me an engine out, night approach with rain and wind and you can call it DANGEROUS!!!
Nice video... if you can someday try to come to torres del paine national park in chile, we have great landings with beatifull views in puerto natales and punta arenas airports.
Dangerous???!!! Come on!!! Give me abreak! That was a really smooth landing. It is clear that this type of terrain requires an adequate approach, but this airport is really nice. I agree, there are indeed dangerous approaches, but this is NOT one of them.
At about the 10:51 mark is when the car alarms start up... the old school car alarms when it goes through the whoo, whoo, whoo, bwoop, bwooop, bwoooop, weaoooo, weaooo, weaooo, then interrupted by a blip, blip. It only happens every morning around 6. I hope you didn't want to sleep past that.
The more I watch these videos is the more I feel stupid for nothing staying focused on my aviation training. The biggest mistake I made was dating , I would've been and airline pilot by now, but unfortunately I'm missing out!
Jesus Christ....that was not a landing....it was indeed a True Schweppes ....Smooooothhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and amazing touchdown after such a demanding app...Great scenery, awesome clip, amazing pilots

DANGEROUS approach? Give me a break it is a normal landing.
whateverpbk an approach and landing with more attention but not dangerous. You are correct!
Its 3000m+ above sea level, so the approach speed is faster than normal, im guessing thats why its "dangerous". Im guessing its captain only landing.
Luis Miguel Mak Shen yeah I’ve seen videos of planes landing here it seems they are going a little bit faster than usual
Absoluletly, and a very few landings were you can previously see the whole runway before with a nice turn around mountain

Great video. Crystal clear. Incredible view of your destination with a silk smooth landing.

A go-around there must be fun with all the mountains in all directions.
Beautiful mountain views, would love to go there one day. What a soft landing! Great pilot :)
Great footage. Honduras have a dangerous approach and landing as well.

I've flown into this airport, on Latam, three times, and the turn is the scary part.
not a dangerous (for a competent flight crew) but a very beautiful and scenic one
You need skilled pilots for flying to Cuzco or La Paz. I love the scenic view of the Andes mountains.
Wow. Now that is breathtaking aproach. Great vid!
My heart was definitely going when I landed there. I'm sure it was normal for the pilots, but a lot of the passengers were clearly unnerved.
Is approach is very impressive! Thumbs up for sharing this great video!
Awesome video! I landed there last week, but it was at night. Talk about hard to breathe in that city! So high!
The Approach was... BREATHTAKING!!! The landing was very professional and the touchdown so smoooooth... The Captain has done a very good job! This Video is outstanding! Thx for sharing with us & greets from Germany, Dantorp.

10:56 everyone shit their pants 💩
I loved the approach on my flight there, it's really cool being so close to the mountains! A brilliant video as always :)
Brilliant clip Dan... keep them rolling -)
Oh, thanks for this one. Magnifico.
where was the dangerous approach? i must have missed it.
What an awesome approach!!! Thx for the video!! :D
Wow !! This is trully amazing
Love the mountain scenery!
Wonderfull video😮! Congratulation😮!
Absolutely soft landing! Did not hear any boom boom on the ground!!! Salute to pilots!
Vaya suerte volando con cielo semi despejado, yo volé de Lima a Cusco en mal tiempo por la zona de montaña para llegar a Cusco e incluso llovió en Cusco y tuve que esperar a que parara un poco para salir del aeropuerto.
Great video keep up the good work
this is stunning. THX for upload.
Desde que ingresas a cusco todo todo es fantastico
indeed hard approach but I was landed very smooth great video
I‘ve just checked out the charts of the airport. Damn that looks difficult. In other words: I can‘t wait to try this approach on sim 😁
Your Right Dantorp Aviation That is A very very dangerous Approach! Well You went over the High Mountains!
excellent smooth landing
Looks scimilar to Tegucigalpa, Honduras! Nice video :)
palm springs is such a amazing landing!! u can see the 15,000 feet mountain, the meadows and the small city there!
Dangerous mountains route fantastic video - thanks for posting
I was on a couple of flights into cusco last July 19 fantastic views and close ups of the Andes feels like you could reach out the window touch them
10:55 - Funny !
Amazing video by the way, beautiful scenery !
lol
That's a great and every interesting approach complete with a very soft landing.
‼️‼️‼️👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻WHAT SUCH A WONDERFUL LANDING‼️‼️‼️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏
Great view and spectacular approach.....good one :)
He greased that landing, bravo!
Great video, the approach is very similar to that of Innsbruck, Austria; through the valleys, mountains on the wing tips with a 180 turn to land! Thanks!
Beautiful video! Thanks!
that was awesome, just a turn around the mountain and bam, you landed:)
Great video of a difficult approach.
Ok, it’s the approach and traffic pattern legs; downwind. base, and final..nothing dangerous about that. Very scenic..! It must be a blast to actually fly the airplane down that valley.!!
This reminds me of the approach into Queenstown, New Zealand.
Yeeeees, was thinking of this as well
splendid view over the Andes. From safety factor it is a quite low flight over rocky mountains with such a big plane....
Landing in Cusco in rainny season and the middle of clouds is absolutely freaking out.
Smooth landing good vid

Beautiful and amazing approach

Damn boy, is there anywhere you HAVEN'T flown to? :-) LOVE your videos!
Spectacular view !
Incredible Scenery! This is just like landing in Quito, Ecuador.
What an exciting approach!
Thats look like smooth landing and stark turbulance
Very good video
mountainous terrain is generally dangerous when flying. But tthere are approaches that are more dangerous.
toncontin tegucigalpa, Lukla Nepal.
C - S Only in FSX lmao
Yup! And Paro in Bhutan
C - S doesn’t make it any less challenging.

When your pilot/ plane turned around the mountain oh my!
Super bonito tanto el vídeo como el acento de la azafata. :)
I miss flying to South America the majestic Andes extend over 7 of 10 countries it makes the experience unforgettable
My wife and I went to Machu Picchu last year. The takeoff from Cuzco was something in itself, the landing has to be way more difficult.
Well, the circling approach to rwy 08 at Innsbruck is way more difficult to perform.
you find it dangerous ? it is perfect ! i landed in Cusco , it is no dangerous . if you want some adrenaline
go to santa fe de Bogota
NO
Come to Argentina!!! :D so many stunning approaches here!!
There is a place, I'd love to get to.
NO

Couldn't agree more
grandes pilotos de latam, suave aterrizaje
can someone tell me what kind of a Airport is this Cusco
it Doesnt look like a Airport at all
They make it look easy.
Can the ILS handle this kind of approach or do the pilots have to manually perform it?
No ILS in Cusco, it is a visual approach from the mountains...
12:03 "Have we landed yet?"
Hey man, come to Manaus one day please, I and all team of TMA Manaus Spotting would like to meet you, your videos are incredible!😀👍✌
Italo Goncalves Loiola like to meet you too
The more I watch these videos is the more I feel stupid for nothing staying focused on my aviation training. The biggest mistake I made was dating , I would've been and airline pilot by now, but unfortunately I'm missing out!
How was the airline's service?
You are brave gi
Think my heart would have been in my mouth with that landing
Jesus Christ....that was not a landing....it was indeed a True Schweppes ....Smooooothhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and amazing touchdown after such a demanding app...Great scenery, awesome clip, amazing pilots
That is quite a high traffic pattern!
excellent
I always do love flying
Breathtaking beauty at 5:30
SPZO airport is very challenging for landing
Hermoso aterrizaje
nice aproch almost Zurich Kloten.
Incredibly smooth landing after all that scare. I wont be flying in here! The approach is as hairy as it can get for a heavy.
Dayananda Srikantaiah you’ll regret it. It’s one of the most beautiful places out there
Já vivi essa emoção..adrenalina a 1000
Great video
Normal landing what's so dangerous
There is not a dangerous approach, is normal and softly. An Cusco is not surrounded by Machu Picchu, the city is very far away from this place.
È impressionante quanto si abbassi l'ala, la fusoliera sembra inclinata quasi a 180° hahahaha😅
That sure is a tiny controll tower!
