These are great I did buncombe horse trail to mt mitchell couples weeks ago it was tough but awesome you should post up some good overnight hikes with free dispersed camping
Thanks for video very good. I grew up in spruce pine and have hiked those trails many times . I'm 71 and still hike up there. About 20 years got off trail coming down woody ridge .where u cross the rock. Trail was not marked back then much. Came out at the head of browns creek. What day....... next time you all are up here. Get horse rock and Percy's peak in. Both are over 6000
Great tip! We have actually reached those points. Horse Rock provides a nice little scramble with a view. That’s great the your still hiking up there. We love it, too!
That's not actually Cattail Peak. I don't know why that sign was put there. Cattail Peak is a bushwhack off of the Deep Gap Trail and has an official USGS marker on it. And you must go down to Deep Gap in order to complete the Deep Gap Trail. Your map suggests that Colbert Ridge ends at Winter Star and Woody Ridge ends at Celo Knob. Neither is true, they both end at the Black Mountain Crest Trail. Anyhow, it was a great video. Looks like you two had a great time!
Just as a note, Woody Ridge is 2.7 miles one way. With a similar elevation gain to Colbert Ridge, that would make it the hardest on the list. I just did Colbert and that was hard enough, I can't imagine doing Woody
You can actually hike from Montreat to Mt. Mitchell if you want a real treat. I don't know if Linville Gorge falls in the area you are speaking to, but it certainly has some comparable, worthy trails.

Wow, these trails are just spectacular my friend! Brilliant list👏👏
Thanks so much. We appreciate the comment and kind words.
Every time I see people pop out onto the paved mt Mitchell trail I always congratulate them with a celebratory fist bump
