Many of these criteria are subjective and some are just fairy tales, this includes some, not all iihs testing.. Some of their tests are conjured up by the institute’s expert “opinions”. The actual field data does not necessarily statistically justify their rank order but more an effort to steer the industry towards “LOW RISK”. All very good, but it an individual choice, right? I remember the 1960s and 70s safety research safety vehicles. They were tanks. I don’t want a tank but there is a market for tanks. Mileage estimates for high priced vehicles are meaningless. You got the bucks, you spend the bucks. “Lacking safety equipment” is a scare technique. The stuff require by federal law (FMVSS) gets you 99.99% of the protection required. Extra airbags and related get you an extra 0.001% protection. When you look at total crashes you get a hand full of people that were benefitted, everybody else donated parts to vehicle reman companies at the home vehicle end of life.

This is why you shouldn’t buy the newest vehicles. They always have recalls and reliability issues.
EV's are just plain shitboxes riddled with problems and no range and long recharge times. Absolutely useless for road trips and super commuters.
