    Only in america would someone complain that a car "only" has 90hp
    Dear americans, not every car needs a 5 liter V8.

      Common theme throughout the video - moan about the low power output of small engines. Also moan about poor fuel economy of large engines.

      @@shytot4x4 Yeah, in Europe in the 90s most car engines were 4 cylinder NA engines producing no more than 90 HP.
      But then again, we drowe cars that weiged 800-1200 kg, while americans drove cars weighing so much that you will need a truck drivers license to be allowed to drive them here.
      Right now our second car, that mostly does city runarounds is 3 cylinder and 65HP and it is more than enough for the job. Its no rocket, but for what its used for its great.

      Fair point! You're absolutely right 90hp can be more than enough for many cars, especially in regions where smaller engines are the norm. Not every vehicle needs a big V8 to get the job done, and it’s all about the purpose and design of the car. Thanks for the reminder to appreciate efficiency over excess sometimes.

      Thanks for pointing that out! You’re right; it does seem like I went back and forth between critiquing small engines for being underpowered and larger ones for poor fuel economy. I’ll work on finding a better balance in future videos by considering the context and purpose of the vehicle rather than just focusing on extremes. Your feedback is super helpful for improving thanks for sharing! 🚗😊

    Fun fact about the Trabant, if you wanted to check your fuel level, you had to open the hood and stick a dip stick in the gas tank.

    • @TheAutoBrain
      @TheAutoBrain  3 дні тому +1

      Haha, that’s a classic Trabant quirk! It’s amazing how something so simple could be part of everyday life for its owners. Checking fuel with a dipstick definitely adds a bit of charm (or frustration, depending on how you look at it) to the experience. Thanks for sharing that fun fact it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come with car tech! 🚗⛽

    Is this an A.I. generated script? The reason I ask is, the narrator mentioned lead car batteries, he pronounced "lead" as "leed".!
    A.I can have trouble with pronunciation like this & an educated human would know how to say a word, even though they can be spelled the same way when A I. can get it wrong.

      Good observation! I actually use AI for voiceovers to keep things efficient, but I do all the research myself to ensure the information I provide is accurate and authentic. Sometimes, AI can mispronounce words like "lead," and I appreciate you catching that! I’ll make sure to fine-tune it better in the future. Thanks for pointing it out! 😊

    one important note regarding the Robin.
    It was not intended to be (or marketed as) a car.
    rather it was a 'covered' alternative to a motorbike. enabling riders to not worry so much about 'bad weather, or winter conditions.
    Still they made a definite mistake with wheel arrangement. As two in the front, and a single 'drive wheel' rearward tends to be far more stable.

      @TheAutoBrain  3 дні тому

      Great point! The Robin was definitely more of a "covered motorcycle" concept than a traditional car, designed to give bikers some shelter from bad weather. But yeah, they really missed the mark with the wheel arrangement. A two-front, single-rear setup would’ve been a game-changer for stability imagine how much safer (and less meme-worthy) it could have been.

    Bad title since many people bought the K Car and others in this list. And just because a vehicle is ugly does not mean it’s bad. The Gremlin does not belong on the same list as a Relient Robin no matter the list.

    • @TheAutoBrain
      @TheAutoBrain  3 дні тому

      You're right that popularity and aesthetics don’t always define a car’s quality. The Gremlin, for example, has its quirks but isn’t on the same level as the Reliant Robin in terms of issues. Thanks for sharing your perspective it's always great to hear different takes! 🚗

    As an English man quite a few of these cars in the video appeared on Top gear & The Grand Tour with Clarkson Hammond & May taking the piss out of them in some way. Hammond had a Chevy SSR on an episode of The Grand Tour he said it was absolutely crap as a pickup crap as a convertible & even worse as a sports car. On Top gear in South Africa Hammond with the help of explosive mine blew up a Hummer H2 their was nothing left of it. 5 minutes before it exploded he was driving it. On Top gear Hammond & May set fire exploded etc many G-wizzs over quite a few episodes then their was Clarkson rolling over 3 point plugs ( Reliant Robins) as they are known here in Europe. It's hard to believe but Reliant made 1 of the most expensive Fords ever in Europe. Reliant had the contract to build all RS200s for Ford over the length of production.

      Love the Top Gear and Grand Tour references! Clarkson, Hammond, and May have certainly given us some unforgettable moments poking fun at cars like the Chevy SSR, Hummer H2, and the G-Wiz. Their antics with Reliant Robins are legendary too who can forget Clarkson rolling them over for laughs? And it’s fascinating that Reliant, known for the Robin, also built the iconic Ford RS200. Shows how diverse their legacy really is.

    Cheap interior materials in an entry level car with weak engines? You get what you pay for. Whoever wrote this clearly does not understand car marketing or the auto industry at all.

    • @TheAutoBrain

      Appreciate your opinion! entry-level cars are often built with cost-efficiency in mind, which can mean trade-offs in materials and performance.

    are you aware of the context the trabant was produced???

    • @TheAutoBrain
      @TheAutoBrain  3 дні тому

      It was produced during a time when resources were extremely limited in East Germany, and it was designed to be as simple and affordable as possible. While it had its flaws, understanding the historical and economic conditions helps put its design into perspective. Thanks for the reminder to always consider the bigger picture! 🚗🌍
