    My son and I have been wearing the Mobius X8 for almost a year now and are very happy with them. They are comfortable and we feel give excellent support and protection.
    Both of ours have some pretty big gashes on them from going down and neither of us have had a single scratch or tweak to our knees. My son actually broke the dial on his from an impact with his peg, we called Mobius and got a new one.
    We have not tried any other brand but with as happy as we have been with the Mobius I don't know if we ever will. We will not ride without them. Only advise I can give is spend the money and get knee braces before an injury. The pipe can wait.
    Thank you RM ATV/MX for all the great reviews and information.

    I have run the Mobius x8 braces for about 7 years. I ride gncc. These braces have absolutely saved my knees from multiple impacts. One was a solid 40mph left knee into a bolder sticking out on a trail. No damage to the braces or my knee. They , in my opinion, offer the most protection in all directions of any of the braces. When they are adjusted correctly they are very comfortable. I am amazed at the durability and quality of the plastic its manufactured from.

    Great breakdown of al the brace options out there. I have the older generation POD K8 braces and love them. I thought they would feel bulky but once strapped on I honestly don't notice them at all and they don't limit my mobility on the bike.

    I love my Asterisk Carbon Cell.
    I'm only 173cm tall but my legs are bigger than XL(or even XXL) of Leatt, POD and Alpinestars because of weightlifting background.
    Asterisk, on the other hand, has probably the largest XL in these knee braces, and fit my legs perfectly. And especially Carbon Cell is shorter and more low profile than Ultra Cell, and that makes it perfect knee braces for guys with larger legs.
    Only downside is that they include only one paddings for adjusting knee width. If I am right, they have to be snug fit. I use paddings from my unused Leatt XXL X-Frame.

    i had an ACL tear, medial meniscus tear and tibial plateau fracture. after rehab, i got a set of DonJoy defiance braces. i have had them for 10 years now and have put a lot of riding through them. they take some getting used to (as do any knee brace) but i will say to this day not one part on those braces has worn out.
    now they offer a carbon version of the same brace, i think i will call my rep and possibly upgrade

    would really recommend the leatt c-frame even tho it is not on the table. I rode the asterisk dident work for me, it actually fractured on a low speed crash.
    A little note to the C-frame, I felt like the knee impact protection wasn't good enough, so I took inspiration from the x-frame and bought the AirFlex Hybrid knee pad and wore that under the c-frame

    make a brace with a pad inside contact point for the point of contact on the bike. no grip on motorcycle with hard plastic or steel. needs to be a soft grip contact at motorcycle for grip. this is the exact reason i stick with pads instead. better control and less chance of injuries with better control.

    I ironmanned the Baja 1000 in the Mobius. Extremely comfortable. My only complaint is the velcro tabs on the straps can tear off (twice for me) if the seam where it transitions from "loop" to scratchy "hook" is resting on the buckle when you cinch it down. Adjust it to avoid this. Otherwise phenomenal brace and I have hundreds of hours in mine.
    Oh, and the best Asterisk Cell were the older ones with the corset-style laces. Most comfortable ever. I left Asterisk after the next 2 generations didn't fit as well.

    Not a fan of how Asterisk dumbed down their kneecap protection. I have the 2021 Ultra Cell 2.0 and the knee protection is far superior. The new webbing attachment system is a cheap ass way to cut production costs, and imo results in a less protective knee guard.

    Which one is thinest at the inside hinge? PODS are thick at the hinge with only a small surface area of solid plastic for the knees to hold onto the bike with. The way pods give foam adjustment shims of different thickness does not fix this because there isn't enough surface area under the foam. Also the foam shims don't stay in place. I had to glue mine into place for them to stay. Ridiculous!

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 місяці тому +1

      The Asterisk Carbon Cell and the Mobius are the two that I would say have the slimmest hinge design. The Alpinestars are also very thin, but they are on discontinued and won't be around much longer, which means you'll have a tough time getting parts for them if something were to fail. They do have a new knee brace coming out, but not sure when we'll see it. - Chase

    All these knee braces are crap. Cheep materials, dumb design, but the marketing and prices are really at the top. Heavy cheap shit made in china. For these prices you'd expect superior materials, but no. You can buy titanium exhaust can, but the most expensive knee brace still uses steel, aluminum, nylon and of course - lots of velcro - the materials which cost cents in far east. That's a good business I guess.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Рік тому +5

      That is not true. There are braces on this list that are made from carbon fiber and other composite materials that are not certainly not cheap. Also, Asterisk knee braces are hand made in the USA.

    • @yurgon
      @yurgon 6 місяців тому +1

      Well Zender you sound like such a nice guy. I'm sure people just love to be around you with that attitude. Perhaps you should engineer your own brace, so it can live up to your expectations. I'm sure the engineers at these companies did their best and worked very hard to make a product that's light, durable, effective and as affordable considering the restraints and material costs. Why use exotic materials to make a brace that costs $5,000 if no one can buy it.
      It would seem you want something custom. You may want to contact one of these companies or similar who specialize in what you're seeking. It's either that or adjust your expectations for a something that costs well under $1,000. Also don't forget inflation. The cost of everything has gone up in some cases over 30%. Businesses need to make money otherwise how can they continue to bring products to market for you to unfairly and ignorantly judge on a video released from a retailer who has no control over the suppliers decisions.

    • @ZenderStuzer
      @ZenderStuzer 6 місяців тому

      @@yurgon thank you for the input. I have tried many braces, have returned them all. Now I just wear very cheap knee pads and do not race anymore. Market for mx/enduro gear is crazy, you have to have low mfr cost to stay in it. Imho, a lot of stuf is getting worse in quality because of that. I believe that in the future people will be making more and more custom products using readily available services like AI assisted design and 3D printing instead of buying a product of the shelf.
