Do you know how is it in the end with the legions ? If I understood correctly, storm legion is one thing, and the gravediggers another thing, even if both are Cygnar, and can't be mixed. So if I buy this box with Caine, I won't be able to use him with gravediggers, when they eventually come out. Is it like that?
@@luismarincionithe models that come in this box are Cadre models so they will be able to be used in storm legion or gravediggers. The khador half will be able to be used with winter Korps or the upcoming umbrey army
I welcome the plastic products. As someone whose customers have had bad experiences with 3d printed Warmachine, this is a good change and I hope to see more products in the material.
Woo best things in storm legion aren't even in storm legion! Excited to get a box, terrain is cute sprues look nicely detailed. Like the art overlays as the sprue is inspected nice touch
I think this was exactly the correct move for SFG to make. If you go in with a buddy it's a $50 buy in, that is an amazing deal for value. On sprue is also fantastic.
I hate the tedium of assembly but like how it opens up easier conversions than the printed models. Either way, I'm rooting for Warmachine and SFG. It has been interesting to see how different mini manufacturing implementations affect the whole experience as a hobbyist.
I prayed an absolute ton of mk.2 and a little of mk.3 and I’ve always been a fan of the lore and the system. Mk.4 had me a little hesitant but I ended up getting some cygnar and the 3d models are absolutely delightful. My only real gripe is no protecorate or circle…. Yet.
I love this game, but at the same price point Games Workshop’s Kill Team 2 player starter set literally came with everything you need to play (and replay). Dice, tons of terrain a playing board and actual physical rules (I know I’m old school but I like the tangible with my games.). This came with four sprues of plastic. As a fan I will still buy it, I was really hoping for more.
At this point look at buying it as an investment in the future of the game. It would be good for them to become a rival to games workshop as they once were in the US.
We’re eagerly awaiting our copy and this has made the wait more unbearable lol. SFG makes some fantastic plastic miniatures and it looks like they put the full force of that expertise into this starter. I’m not 100% sure what I was expecting with the terrain, but a couple plastic ponds/lakes definitely wasn’t it. Not a compliant, just a pleasant surprise.
GW has really made the notion of "value" twisted is you yhink a dingle model would be worth $50. These are plastic not solid copper. But will agree that the box is at a decent price point. That being said, I'm not sure what makes this a starter set if it doesn't include quick start rules or tokens or anything you need to play other than models.
This is my thought too... like... yes, there is an app.. yes rules are online.. but some sort of "get you started" even if it's a cut down version of the game feels missing if this is truly aimed at "new" players... or probably, truth be told, it's not aimed at new players.. it's aimed at old warmachine players that haven't done anything with their models since MK3... lol
Question, my understanding with mk4 is that all of the warjaks and warbeasts had swappable parts that are supposed to be magnetized. Is that included or possible with is kit?
@@triedtrue1221 also feels weird that they are NOT customizeable after everything PP did with MK4... I get it.. it's easier to balance for a demo / starter box... makes sense... but does seem like a missed opportunity for them to design a plastic sprue that could ALSO take magnets and maybe other arms or heads in the future.
I dearly welcome plastic the porcelain 3d printed stuff I been getting are not good, not good at all. And its been new stuff old stuff, light grey dark grey does not matter it breaks like nothing. And details are often warped, unclear or smothered in melted resin, I dropped a model from like a yard and it exploded, repairing that was not even on the map. No please make it all plastic. 3d printing full factions is not there yet, that is very obvious. Im in a big group and peeps are posting models from the mail totally trashed at arrival, all the time. Sure you get new stuff but you might already have been waiting for months! Quality and distribution is a huge issue I can't recommend this game as is and that is a shame because it is really really good. Rant over. Cheers!
I was excited to pick this up until I saw that the models come in several pieces that need to be glued together. Gonna have to pass on this one. I feel that Warmachine went downhill after it was purchased by SFG.
We think a fair number of the community misses cards and physical rulebooks, including our group. However, the app being at no cost, enables accessibility to a larger audience without a pay wall for things like army books. Perhaps later down the line, we may have physical media again, but for now, the app is a welcome alternative in comparison to some other game systems out there. Speaking of the community, there are some excellent fan made card builders out there. If you miss playing with cards, we recommend checking it out!
@@triedtrue1221 its not a welcome alternative for me, nor is it for many others. Zero interest in playing a table top game that forces you to use a clunky digital app in order to play it. Table top games are an escape from screen life for many, companies need to recognise this.
Having to buy books and magazines the way GW does it is a bigger L and that might be the only market viable way to keep up to date game data in physical form.
@@Ceefaproductions would happily pay for new books/cards yearly than put up with the inferior experience that is using a clunky digital app. It doesn't just make the play experience slightly worse for me, it makes it significantly worse. To the point I'm not interested in buying back into the game unless there is a way of playing with physical cards. Forced Digital app use is a plague on this hobby.
Incredible they did it with Caine + B13. The upgrade from older minis is awesome

True, there is no nature element in the collection yet. And some of the armies still overlap in their themes, and how they play it seems

the new models look way better. the high impact just looks higher quality. they might not be as durable as the 3d but its a worthwhile trade off.

Is there a starter rule set or do you just have to use the full rulebook to learn to play?
Hey there! The core rulebook and all army rules are for free on the Warmachine app :)
