There is a lot that is not exactly correct in your interpretation of War machine. Matt was the face and lead developer but the engine behind its initial success was way more then one person. Open up the credits of the game books for the original Black and white prime, Escalation, and superiority and the witch fire DnD campaign. Those PAGES were what made PP work. And its amazing how people still memory hole Snoddy.
Again, former Press Ganger here. My personal theory is that Matt Wilson wanted to sell Warmachine/Hordes back in 2017. The launch of MK III was premature and problematic, but it did inflate sales which would translate to the property's value. When MTG Judges sued WOTC, PP disbanded the Press Gang entirely (which could be seen as clearing away a liability that could discourage prospective buyers. I believe that sale fell through and what followed was PP not being able to, or choosing not to, retain talent in terms of game developers and writers. It's telling that within a few short years many of PP's staff migrated to Atomic Mass Games.
Guild Ball was (is) such a fantastic and fun game. It baffles me that SFG tossed it aside. It could be very competitive, but I played it more casually with my friends and we all had a blast. I always wished they had some kind of TTRPG spin off. The world they made was really cool. (Now, knowing the owners are major D&D 5e fans, I’m glad they didn’t do that since it likely would have been a D&D supplement and that would suck.) Anyway, seeing how SFG managed Guild Ball, it will take a LOT to make me trust them again. They clearly threw GB aside so they could focus on big budget (and half baked) licensed board game adaptations. One of my biggest hobby regret purchases was the Dark Souls Board Game. I went in heavily on it and it was…just not fun. It was not a good game. My group played it a few times, got the rules down, and collectively decided we didn’t want to touch it again.
Tbf to SFG, they put GB aside, I think, to focus on making money, which isn't inherently irrational. If WMH can be turned to a reasonable profit, we might well see enthusiasm for GB pick up again.
Their pricing is OUTRAGEOUS, 150 dollars for a 3d printed colossal is more expensive than a GW imperial knight, and most of teh troopers are higher than GW in price per model too just outrageous imo, they need to slash their prices by like 50% to tempt people to get into it.
Had to stop for the awful audio quality ... it's a pity cos your commentary are always worth listening... still you have to improve audio quality or flatly invest in a good mic 😅
@@Nazgull2k1 Strong prediction! It'll be interesting to see if you're right. I certainly haven't seen it explode back onto the general scene since the purchase...
@@PrecinctOmegaWargaming Its sad facts. In my area... Warmahordes was MASSIVELY popular. You could go to a local shop on a friday night and find entire STORES filled with tables of games. People laughing joking, having fun, discussion strategies and tactics... and along comes PP with their "Everything you own and have collected for 20 years is now garbage, thanks for the money suckers... now buy more of our stuff!" ... it was worse than the ending of Old Yeller. OverNIGHT the game vanished. Nobody would touch it. Nobody cared. My entire awardwinning pro painted army of the Trollbloods COLLECTION (literally almost every model ever released) .. couldnt even sell on Ebay with a 0.99 starting bid and free shipping. Not one bid for 10 straight days. I have never seen a community so roundly and universally reject a company/game in my entire 45 years on this planet. Even GW had a better reception when they got rid of Fantasy for AOS than PP did... and thats saying something.
The miniwargaming genre is growing and gamers and hobbyist are spoiled for choice. Warmachine has an uphill battle. I feel like if veterans of warmachine were chomping at the bit to return to the game, we'd be hearing so much more about it. I'll be curious to see what turnout at adepticon 2025 is like for warmachine.

YEEEAH! Great to see you back with another video.
"As a game it's... fine."
Talk about damning with faint praise! 😁
Tbf to SFG, I'd say the same about a lot of games by bigger names than theirs. 😉
@@PrecinctOmegaWargamingwhat does big name got to do with it? 40k is giganormous but by far a worse game rules wise than for instance Warmachine mk4.
@@UnkaStunka Kill Team is... fine. Necromunda is... fine. Bolt Action is... fine.
Your last Warmachine video was so good that I'm excited about what you got to say now!!!!

Brilliant video. Thanks that really clears things up.
great video, you're such an underrated channel

Hi. Where are you looking? I've been on SFG's site and the prices all seem fairly reasonable compared to similar collections.
@@PrecinctOmegaWargaming lolololololololololol 'reasonable'
Great video, very insightful. However, the audio quality is quite bad, it's even worse when the music plays.

You can delete my comment if you want.. PP killed and ruined that entire game and its never going to recover. Ever.

It doesnt mean anything. That game is dead and cant be saved.
