    I was at this show, both nights. Totlly epic. This was the first time that I had been back to Seattle since my birth. I can not adequately experss the energy in that building for these shows. I swear you could have powered the city with it for an entire year. The band was about as perfect as you could get, everyone was "On" and in sync. James in particular was I think, at his peak. He seemed larger than life, almost intimidating and definitely held your attention. As others have said here, this was Metallica at their prime. I've seen them live 12 times and this show was all around the best.

    Metallica's original bassist, Cliff Burton (sadly died in a tour bus crash) was classically trained. Before his death he was mainly responsible for much of the structure found in the early (first 3) Metallica albums. I'm sure he taught the other band members much of what he was taught because the bands follow-up albums (And Justice for All, Black Album) retain much of their earlier style.

    Cliff Burton(R.I.P. 1986), was classically trained and Kirk Hammett is also a classically trained guitarist. He was also taught by Joe Satriani, considered by MANY to be a guitar GOD. Lars Ulrich is a self taught drummer. The bassist you see in this video, is Jason Newsted. He joined the band after Cliff's death, sadly left in 2001 because of turmoil within the band. 2003 saw the arrival of Robert Trujillo, known in metal circles for his work with Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves and did do some work with Ozzy Osbourne. James started on piano, but then started to play guitar at 14. Thanks to Aerosmith apparently. He met Lars in 1981 and the rest as they say is history. Hope this helps you in some way. Loved your reaction. Keep up the GREAT work! 🤘🤘🤘

    Totally agree with Justin(top comment).
    ALOT of thought goes into the placement of tracks on an album, especially the great ones! Just press play-
    close yer eyes-
    clear the mind of any thoughts or expectations and just let the music take you for a ride.
    FEEL the journey as intended, dont over analyze it or pick it all apart.. just ENJOY their creation and react to how it makes you feel in the moment.
    Trying to find or explain what you think is the meaning of it all (ESPECIALLY right in the middle of a great song) completely derails the connection and feelings of a shared experience. and THAT is what I believe it is most important and ultimately what it’s really all about.

    First, love your reactions!
    Second, everyone that thinks she needs to listen to "One" next like this comment!
    The lyrics only video is what you want, initially... watch the official music video later for a separate reaction! 👍 Otherwise, it may be sensory overload trying to take it all in the first go around. It is from the album "...and justice for all" and many feel it is musically their best WRITTEN album.

    Yep i've heard Metallica's songs hundreds of time and i agree this is in the top 50 Metallica songs. Like Led Zeppelin, they don't have bad songs. Metallica are musical geniuses and yes they know how to compose music. Their change-ups, repetition and build up in every song are just brilliant. I could watch you react to Metallica all day...i love how excited you get by the music changes each song gives you, and i'm guessing you've been surprised by the musical talent and variety of this group. Metallica's music is built to appeal to the angst of male teens so i love too see young women discovering their musicianship. You go girl!

    also my favourite metallica song. 🙂 this was the first CD i bought. i had a cassette copy of master of puppets from a friend, because that's the way it was in those days, and loved very minute of it. i played that tape to death. it's crazy to think that they didn't make amusic video until their fourth album, and had zero radio airplay, but were huge through live shows and people sharing the copies of the tapes.

    There's no shortage of Metallica songs you need to react to. One, Disposable Heroes, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Dyer's Eve, Orion, To Live is to Die, Seek & Destroy, Bleeding Me, Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, The Outlaw Torn etc.

    Agree with other comments, you could honestly just do this entire show, it’s insane. Creeping Death and Four Horseman would be my next recommendation.
    Another excellent reaction! The head banging will come naturally 😂
    Oh and I’ll try and give you a bit of insight on the band!:
    In these Seattle ‘89 clips, it’s:
    Rhythm Guitar/Vocal: James Hetfield - He and Lars, the drummer, are the founding members. Writes the songs and is an all around legend. Had a rough childhood and harnessed that energy into creating one of the best band in the world (imo). Also famous for his insane rhythm down-picking and general leadership in the band.
    Drummer: Lars - Founding member with James. Travelled from Europe in his teens as a pro tennis player. Ended up staying California to start a band. Had no idea how to play drums when he started the band lol. Became a big part of Metallica’s commercial success and the arrangement of their songs. In the 80’s and 90’s he was a monster drummer, but he is considered a little bit of a meme now as he can be a little lazy. He’s a bit of a character but I like him lol.
    Bass: Jason Newsted - personal favourite member of Metallica. Played every single show at 110%. Amazing backing vocals and stage presence. Heavy af. He makes Creeping Death (my favourite song) 10x better. He joined the band in ‘86 after their original bassist, Cliff Burton ,died in a tour-bus crash while they were on tour. He left in 2003 because James wouldn’t let him work on his own personal side project, Echobrain.
    Guitar: Kirk Hammett, some of the best written solos ever imo. Ride the Lightning is my favourite solo. Joined in ‘83 after James and Lars kicked out original guitarist Dave Mustaine (who would go on to found one of the other biggest thrash bands in Megadeth (check out the song Holy Wars…).
    Members not in this video:
    Ron McGovney - technically the first bassist, but never recorded anything in the studio with them.
    Cliff Burton: widely considered the original bassist. Absolute legend in his own right, but passed in ‘86 as I mentioned. Check out their ‘85 Day on the Green - For Whom the Bell Tolls performance to see him in action. At times he shreds/plays his bass like a guitar. Huge distortion and very unique style.
    Dave Mustaine: original guitarist, founded Megadeth as I mentioned. Was an alcoholic and left with a lot of resentment. It’s a long story. They’ve mostly rekindled now, but the two bands have never really been on great terms lol.
    Rob Trujillo - replaced Jason after he left. I’m not really into anything they’ve done since the Black album (‘94) so I don’t listen to their newer stuff and as such don’t really listen to Rob. Can’t say much about him.

      Rob Trujillo is a great bass player. Plays alot like Cliff Burton. Was the former bassist for Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies. Don't listen to people who stopped listening to Metallica after the Black Album. They have a bunch of great songs that came after it. I started listening to them from the beginning and have every album they ever put out.

      @Scooby_Dum Рік тому

      @@anthonyhelton257 I didn’t say they were bad after Jason left. I just stopped listening. Their sound completely changed, nothing wrong with not being into their newer stuff. I’m not even that into the Black album. I just love thrash.
      Rob is obviously an amazing bass player. I wouldn’t say he’s ‘a lot like’ Cliff. They have very different sounds.

    • @anthonyhelton257
      @anthonyhelton257 Рік тому

      @@Scooby_Dum Their sound hasn't changed that much. Death Magnetic and Hard Wired to Self Destruct, the 2 latest albums, both had songs that reminded me of earlier songs. Like Atlas Rise sounds similar to No Remorse. Spit Out the Bone is amazing.
      Lars is one quoted when he said Rob plays like Cliff.
