* Cut out no higher than 140 psi (NO LONGER REQUIRED)
* Cut in no lower than 100 psi (NO LONGER REQUIRED)
Applied air leakage no more than 4 psi in one minute
Low pressure warning between 55-75 psi
Spring brakes between 20-45 psi
Everyone make sure before doing the “ Low air warning Test” ....... Turn “ Key on” accessories , Or else Fail . I did exactly what this individual did in the middle of test and warned me that any other instructor would’ve been an automatic failure . I was lucky I guess
So for “low air warning” turn engine on? or just ignition?
@@TrukNLife316 , after you to turn off engine you turn key one click to the right so it's in the ON position. NOT the start position. In other words your not turning the engine over but simply providing power so you instrument panel and gauges will work for your tests.
you need the truck acc. on for the electrical part, i.e., the light and buzzer, etc.
It’s true. I failed yesterday due to truck running
Thanks for the info... keep in trucking
Just passed my DMV skills and road test got alley docking time to get that real money
Good for you 👍 best of luck in everything man
Do I have to do hydraulic brake check ? I have my test in 3 days I know most things I just don’t know the order California wants it in or what
One more question guys - do you wait for needles to stabilize first then apply the service brake for 60 seconds? Or do you hit the brake first then watch for the needles to stabilize? ( For the apply leakage test?
It shouldn’t matter, just make sure they are settled with the brakes on when you start the one minute time since it is the APPLIED (brakes applied) leakage test
I’m in California and they asked me last week what the max Governor cut out is (140).
My school didn’t mentions anything about a “governer cut in test “
Not needed anymore on test
no longer required
Big fail you forgot turn the key on first.
Question for you.. if I am doing this tests for a class B and the truck is automatic transmission... do I have to chuck the wheels during the test? And remove them before testing the service brakes?
@@Zone_1_trucking_school Thanks for the reply. Did find it in the handbook after all and applied them during my test. Failed the 1st attempt as I failed to identify the PSI during popout of parking brake step. Next attempt tomorrow. Hopefully it all goes well for me
For the apply leakage, you have to say that you cannot lose more than 4 psi for a combo vehicle after 60 seconds? Or is that you cannot lose 4 or more psi?
The instructor today failed me because he said losing 4 psi was okay, but you cannot lose more than that. I told him during the test that it was 4 or more as that's what I was trained...
3 psi max for single vehicle
4 psi max for combination
6 psi max for double trailer
@@Zone_1_trucking_school appreciate it 🙏

In order to pass CDL behind the wheel test. Do you have to do it in a manual or automatic truck here in California? Thanks.
Any, but with automatic truck you get restricted to automatic only.
@@Zone_1_trucking_school I'm getting cdl B and getting automatic hopefully there are jobs out there
I would take it in stick shift ...a couple of days ago a driver asked if i knew how to drive stick because his automatic truck was behind so i did move it for him and yet im a class C
Aren’t we supposed to reduce air tank to 90 psi before a safe start ?
The air pressure buildup is from 85-100 within 45 seconds, but at the location we test don’t ask for it so we still lower the pressure anywhere below 100 psi to make sure we show it to the examiner when we reach cutout or that the gauges are working
Is the service break and tug test still requires in 2021?
At least in California it is
Yes
Wow a truck school Has this as their demo. Embarrassing! Dude would have failed for not being in accessory for the leak down.
Being an accessory for the leak down? Can you please explain this
He needed to put it in1st gear, shut off the engine after release parking and trailer breaks to proform psi test
@Iron Bull its all good, i have my class B now
I have my cdl test coming up in a couple of days should I still mention the cut in and cut out even if not required anymore?
Thank you for the reply I will definitely ask the examiner before I start. After those those 3 test are done. I should do the service brake test and tug test right
Thanks for all the info. Just passed my test today on my first try. At the Fontana location
@@Zone_1_trucking_school How can I test at the Fontana training center ?
Is it still required ?
@@mugensi32 hey bro i need to ask you a few questions please reply back please! im freaking out lol im taking my test also in fontana
This dude would of failed a long time ago
Why ?
Do you do a brake test at every pre trip?
To make sure the brake system is in good condition you should.
I would recommend you take this video down and redo correctly. You are doing a disservice to those preparing for a class A.
isn't 3 psi and 6 on triples?
You will begin what???
He didn't test the trolly brakes
From the beginning was a failure.
First bring up to 1500 in neutral
When Governor pop just say
My needle just stop raising my Governor cut off then put clutches in first gear turn off the engine than turn back just the dashboard buzz and lights and realized boths break (yellow and red)
hands off the wheel when doing service brake test.
i did that and they said you’re supposed to put your hands on the wheel so wtf 🙄
I have a question will this help me pass the airbrake paper test I failed today
@@Zone_1_trucking_school where can I go for the airbtake practice test I have te dmv 2020 book
@@Zone_1_trucking_school please call me i cant call out my phone only accept calls 5109259019 tarrence
When you’re building to cutout, should your parking brake be applied or released?
How do you test for the governor "cut in" test?
At least in California is no longer required for testing purposes
After your governor cuts out, you press the service brakes repeatedly until you get to 100 psi. When it gets to that point, you need to press the brakes in longer intervals to allow the needle to rise. The governor should cut in between 85-100 psi. If the needle rises between those psi then it is a good test, because the governor is cutting in when it's supposed to. The governor is responsible when the tank pressure falls to the "cut-in" pressure, the governor allows the compressor to start pumping again.
@@phasednotfazed thanks you sir!
😂😂”cut in”💀😂
@@phasednotfazed in california is no lower than 100psi 85 would not pass
Where does it say the cut in cut out is NO longer required on the DMV BOOK ? I’m reading the 2020 book and it’s actually on here .
CDL ZONE ahh ok got it ! Thank you guys so much . This video is a bunch I’m sure for others as well . Where are you guys located ?
CDL ZONE You’re right bro thank you ! I actually don’t see anything bout the governor CUT-IN anywhere in the book . But on the Applied leakage Test * It says you have to start engine and build air pressure to governer cut - out 120-140 psi and identify when cut out occurred . Again thank you for quick response! Huge help right now . Taking it tomorrow
CDL ZONE thank you bro !
@@Zone_1_trucking_school the examiner in Fontana California failed me today because during the leakage test I waited until the needle settled and then I stepped on the service brakes and she said I was supposed to step on the brakes and then wait until the needle settles after I applied the brake valves. she was mean and very tired of her job I guess.
@@Zone_1_trucking_school thanks for the replied. now I get it very well explained, thank you!!
This isn’t close to what my school teaches . You gotta lower psi to 90 or less on the safe start,
You just need to lower anywhere below 100 psi to make sure the air compressor will activate, but if you are testing the air pressure build up (85-100 within 45 seconds) then go below 85 psi obviously to start.
😷🙂
this is the worst test ive seen dont follow this guy unless you want to fail
