- Amorphophallus lewallei x impressus is a hybrid created by the late Alan Galloway, who’s created many of the first Amorphophallus hybrids in cultivation today. This plant produces a bizarre flower that lasts only three days. It smells like rotting meat and attracts flies for pollination. After the flower collapses, the corm will send up a large leaf petiole. This depletes most of the tuber, but the umbrella-like leaf structure feeds the plant for many months to well over a year. Once the bulb goes dormant it can remain that way for some time before it decides to flower or skip and Send up another leaf. Funky plants that are well worth the wait for a short, but extremely satisfying burst of excitement!
