Opeth 🇸🇪 already three decades one of the best Progmetal bands of the world.
Mikaels writing, composition and arranging skills are simply amazing. The talent he's got as a creator as well as the talent of each member of that band is on a whole different level compared to most.
I'm not sure this is the best example of his cohesive writing though. Lots of stopping and starting and fade ins, I mean the individual parts are great but this is probably the worst flowing song of the 00's Opeth.
@@mysticsaxophone4181 I like when the structure isn't obvious. The breaks, fades etc. add to the emotional impact... All IMHO though
@@scyphe I get where you're coming from, but to me this sounds like when I was a teenage composer drawing from 90's prog metal and I just slapped riffs on a row without a worry in the world.
The most heart tearing metal ballad ever written. Åkerfeldt gives mourning another dimension here.

How did this lose to LOAD, load came out in the 90s while watershed came out in 08
Michael has seemingly infinite creativity with song writing...incredible...gifted, but it's obvious that he doesn't rest on his laurels...he and the band put the work in...lots of work for this....

I love to watch when they arrive att the dissonant rythms. Usually people mix things up with dissonant chords but I could see the surpricing love for those rythms.

Like the timing by the drummer expecially when he goes on sincopation ! 3'14"-3'23" You the King you appreciate what i appreciate ! Great comment Travis the technical one ! I am referring to this part around 4'23"-4'37" when Drumming sincopation goes to polirythmics with fills and you People feel immediately ! So happy for our community !
