- Today we are heading out to the fishing pier! The mission is to EAT WHATEVER WE CATCH! I take you guys with me to go saltwater foraging for whatever we can catch! We drop down some crab ring nets with some chicken and try to find some BIG CRABS. Hopefully we can catch some keepers! I didn't expect this to happen..
Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for the support! At the time of this upload we just passed 529,000 I'm having so much fun making these videos, lets keep this rolling!

Please can U send me the address
I was born & raised in Mobile, Al.
I grew up fishing & crabbing on The Gulf Coast. At age
11, I witnessed a “Jubilee” of crab. It was a small section of a secluded beach. We had crabs stored for many weeks. I have not ever forgotten that!
🤣🤣 We were the creepy family singing itsy bitsy spider my son recognized you but couldn't get the courage up to approach you and say hi. He watches all your videos and is fan. Keep it up!
Dont text it its a bot
Love the crabbing videos! When I crab local piers I love to take one rod with sabiki rigs so I don’t get so bored also.
next time try frozen bait fish, like bunker or bonita. Half a fish per trap. Stinkier the fish the better. Crabs love stank bait.
Another BANGER from yo boy first state
Love crabs !!! One of fav seafoods to eat...Glad you were able to catch and eat them !!! Nice job Mike !!! Baitfish and Bass were poppin today in Delaware !!! Mid 60's today!
Im from maryland and the only advise i can give for cooking crabs is dont clean them and just pick it from scratch haha boil it whole
Always boil the whole thing.
Exactly, I flipped when I saw him take out the shell
Hey cool to see you’re in FL right now! Best crabs are Jimmie’s which is what is called a “rusty belly” or that kindve dirty rust look, that’s a good indicator that they are very meaty 😊 please make more crab videos! If you’re ever in the First State again I’d love to teach you lol
I enjoy these videos. Keep ‘em up! I’m going to try this out when I got to NC in June!
6:24. Throwing a Blue Crab off a pier. Nice. That is the end of that crab.
Great video as always. Keep up the great work and videos. Hope you heal fast.
Loving the content. Keep up the great work🔥🔥.
Love to see it all keep up the good work man🎉
Love the crabbing videos...reminds me of when you started...
I’ve tried all the crab traps and our favorite for blue claws is the square metal traps where all 4 sides fold out when it hits the bottom. We’d use both chicken thighs and bunker tied together in each trap.
Sometimes when crabbing was slow, we’d leave the chicken and bunker in the sun for a full day to start rotting. Rotting meat always did better then fresh. I’m assuming it created a stronger scent trail that travels farther from the trap and attracts more crab. We also found that a 20 to 30 minute soak was best. It’s really hard to not check the traps every few minutes so my brother and I would bring a stop watch and a book. We’d read (mostly books about fishing 😀) to pass the time. That was before cell phones though. Now you can watch videos about fishing instead of reading books. 🙂
Good luck and I love all the episodes, with crabbing being my favorites.
CRAB BATTLE! Nice vid. Always keep a pole handy for crab snares or just to kill the void between checking traps.
Cheers
That was awesome love the content!
This is totally at the top of my bucket list.
Love the videos keep doing them
Nice can wait to do crabbing while fishing also 🎣🐟🦀
Not first but tried, love your videos running out of stuff to say about how much we appreciate them
Ayee first state love the Catch and cook vids not sure if you know but after you cook em chuck em back in ice or somewhere cool it helps seperate the meat from the shell
Nice video buddy I can't have sea food I get gout easy ....but I do it fish salmon and haddock
Someone else I follow here on UA-cam crabs off the same pier he does pretty good. Wishing you best of luck as the season continues.
Scalloping in the crystal river is awesome in Florida!
awesome!!!
Its always a good day what first state posts
I can't believe how fast you caught them. Crazy
Love the videos man one day we should fish
Hope you and the lady (and pup) are doing well bud!
Nice, would like to see crab catch and cook using old bay ,steam only not boiled . Chesapeake thing!
The darker rusty looking crabs are usually heavier and more filled out. Big black Jimmies. I would advise against steaming without the shell but to each their own I’m from Maryland and would love to link btw
We have that exact same pot, ours came with a long colander just the size of the pot and a shorter one that fits in the top of the pot to steam stuff.
Anything outdoor foraging is sick man! Go hunting!!! Just for meat and the experience bro
if your ever in the new orleans area I'd love to show you the ways of the crab my family used to fish them commercially.
P.S. Highly reccomend using a crab trap though you can set overnight its super clutch especially when you do catch and cooks you can use the heads as bait.
We put a rock in the net to make sure it goes down straight and doesn’t drift around 🤙🏼
I like the crab videos a lot. On the east coast the blues are all we can get fresh crab wise. They’re delicious. I’d like to see you do a test. Put camera underwater and point it at crab ring, time and pull the trap in different increments. 5 minutes. 10 minutes. 15 minutes. See if they immediately come back. If they get on there quickly, get a bite and leave. Or maybe they take a long time thinking about it so a longer wait would be ideal. It’s truly a mystery you might could get a feel for. Be a cool video and might increase your crab count 🤘🏻
Throw some old bay on them bad boys 🤌🏾🤌🏾
Whooooohoooooo🎉
👍
Yeah id say boil them whole then split them up. The boiling cleans them👍
Try Zaturans shrimp and crab boil next time you boil crabs. Its goes great with crabs.
you know youre in FL when you see the Publix items
Cold it’s in the 70’s in Maryland lol
I'm from Maryland and the whole clean and boil drove me nuts!!! Dude watch a video on how we cook the im Maryland. It's the only way to cook them! NEVER PEAL THE BACK OR CLEAN BEFORE COOK! NEVER BOIL! STEAM ONLY
Try your crab by dipping in vinegar then dip in old bay seasoning.
How do you keep your camper from smelling fishy after cooking crab/fish? Usually ours smells for about two days even after airing it out. We started cooking fish outside
Season that water my boy.
How to cook blend crabs. 😂
Hey will you still be in Florida first week of April?
Boil them whole...crab butter is where its at
Be careful man if they’re dead you’re not suppose to eat them. That was the rule of thumb I was taught!
I’d rip it in half then and try and catch some big uglies then
Yup you’re right. If they are dead you do not have long to cook them at all (15 min??) due to the bacteria that grows.
He knows, the crabs weren't dead
@@Frty1b3t They looked dead because even when they’re on ice and chill there claws don’t fall to the ground. There muscles still work. Just don’t want him and his wife to get sick.
Yeah better safe then sorry when dealing with crustaceans!
You would ever try crawdads? 😊
Was that pier in Nassau County? In Yulee
I tried to get here first man
You could go squid fishing and do a catch and cook
Sally?? Lived in MD most of my life. It’s either Jimmy or Susie. What part of Florida are you crabbing. Down here in SW Florida they are pretty scarce.
that big crab probably has beef with that crab from moana
Rajungan ges
Fish while you crab
Am a new crabber... live in Nocatee... where can/should I go? Len
Noti gang
Let’s goooo 🔥🔥
What camera do you use to film with ? I’m from Brooklyn New York and I have a GoPro hero 8 black that I use now to film but I think I want to get a legit camera as well for filming for UA-cam
More muddy the crab shell more meat. They are getting ready to shed their shell. That's when you get soft shell crab.
You got a couple nice crabs there. What is the minimum size down there? Delaware is 5" from tip to tip of the shell. The darker crabs do have more meat in them, also when you see the white area on the back shell near the flipper that means they aren't as full. The water should be boiling before you put the crabs in and also not to deep, you want to steam them. A very good seasoning for crabs is when cooking with the shell on us J.O. #2 and when you do the clean before cook (CBC) use J.O. #1. #2 has flake salt and is two much salt for CBC and #1 is more like Old Bay but better. Most crab houses in De., and MD. use J.O. seasonings.
For something different, check out Sambo's in Leipsic. They have their own seasoning that's delicious.
@@ElliottCustomLures J.O. just might make the seasoning for Sambo's. I have been there a few times. Good place.
@@bluedogron I've been in the kitchen there, they don't. I believe it's just cayenne pepper and salt, but it's still great. Really let's the crab flavor shine.
Idk if it’s true, but I was taught that the ones with the white underbelly recently molted.
If your in the state of Florida we do not have size regs for recreational fisherman your allowed two 5 gallon buckets of crabs male or female . The crabs your talking about are called rusty crabs an yes the yield more meat . You would have allot more crabs to eat instead of 5 that's a tease
was up
The water for crabs should be boiling and after there cooked they should go straight into ice water to cool them fast and then eaten
Hope that foot is doing better!
Got an update on that , Imma let y’all know asap !
@@FirstStateFishing hope it’s nothing serious 😬
U should do a crawdad catch and cook 👍🦞
Where's this location
Put a mark on each rope to the legal length for the crabs so your never without someway to measure them plus it makes it quick
If you keep the chicken outside overnight for about 2 nights it’s gets stinky and the crabs can’t resist it
I rather use crab thow line and crab pots as well and let them soak for a long time in between 10 to 15 minutes for crabbing
I know the waters around the Chesapeake bay area and oysters dredders maryland blue crab fishing boats are always a good site to see as well skipjack sail boats are the oldest sailing craft for the waters
You must live in DE and not from there. Steam is the only way in the mid Atlantic. Boiling is for them southern rebels
Where you at?
Is that your dog
Crabbing is fishing you are fishing for crabs thus you need a fishing license
Shut up
I think if they’re kept cold they’re ok
they are
Please 🥫 u tell me what Pier is this
Early Squad 😁
Ayyy
Don’t eat dead ones or leave them in with your live ones you can get sick
First
Like my comment 😌
Here in Australia, it is a crime to keep female crabs. Like if you are caught with one they take your boat, you traps, ect…
What kind of camera do you use? @firststatefishing
you seasoned those crabs about as well as white people season chicken
