Hi sean i'm currently using 2x Neewer CN 216 led lights which are very very bright and portable, only just really started getting into youtube properly but learning new things every day. never had any video/camera knowledge before but your channel has helped me incredibly well. Keep it up Sean, massive fan.
Hi. I just love your videos and your personality. What are the main advantages of these lights over the classic softboxes or the Prismatic 18" Halo Ring Light you recommended previously. Thanks!
I'm just about to start producing weekly videos, I have no prior experience in photography or video making, in fact I'm a model, so quite the opposite perspective. My point is, I watch a lot of your videos to help make decisions and also for general info/techniques and you have genuinely helped me go "further faster" and I thank you!
I purchased these after watching this video and I'm so happy with the quality, especially for the price, thanks!!!
My setup 2 YN 300-III and 2 CN-160s for motivational lights if necessary.. both YN300s are remote controlled from app or remote control device grouped on 2 different channels each. All stands are Neewer. I have 2 FNP-750 as backups just in case ( the YNs use 1 each) and a 16 pack AAs in stand by... for the CN-160... but mostly all of them are run in AC adapters.
Everything fits in a backpack and the stands in a small tote bag. Very portable.
Great video and awesome find! Thanks Sean! This kit will definitely be on my radar going forward.
Best review on the internet so far! great work man, keep it coming!
Fantastic content as always! Watched many of these videos as part of my research to begin my business channel, Sanktuary. Keep the uploads coming!
I just subscribed two days ago and you have changed filming for me so much thanks, I am learning so much. The one problem is the iOS looked a little too low, thanks
Shawn, Thank you! You are so helpful to us, starter UA-cam enthusiasts!! You're awesome! And your effort doesn't go unnoticed!
Thank you so much Wilse!
Do you still use the ring light? Also, do the power adapters come with them?
your videos are really helpful. I'm working on my production right now and it will be a lot harder without these tips and reviews. 👌
Awesome! Thank you so much for this review, you’ve help me make a decision and I’ll be getting one of this 👍🏾
I read thousands of reviews, finally ended up buying Neewer CN-304 and tried it at home. It was amazing, seriously, extremely bright (too much maybe!!) and it's not expensive. It won reviews thanks to it's ability to be plugged apart from using batteries and portable sony batteries, which gives the light a big advantage. I recommend it for dslr video filmmakers
Dude! Just started on UA-cam and my YT setup isn't bad by any means but better lighting will always help. I'll have to check this out! Thanks man!
Thanks for the review. I have been looking into these lately for my home office which has terrible lighting.
I'm reading the negative comments here that indicate the lights are purple, etc. Are they referring to the first portion of the video where the lights are turned on behind him? Because during the actual test footage from 8:26 onwards, the lighting looks fine to me. What am I missing here?
Sean, big fan here. Really love these lights thanks for the recommendation!
Bought the light setup, so psyched! Great video, very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Super helpful! Thanks for the suggestions! Like you said, there's definitely a lot to choose from!
Hey thanks for the vid most helpful. Do you think This lights will be good enough for slow motion video specifically with flickering issues i couldn't find much info regarding that issue. Thanks in advance
You convinced me and I trust you 100%, so I'm buying it. Thanks for putting so many awesome reviews.
can you let me know when you post a video with those new light pls?
Thanks for your video. What mic do you use for this video? and what light (obviously not the fovitec's)?
Love it. I've been looking for something exactly like this!
Hey thanks for the information Sean. I'm sure this vid will save a lot of us a bunch of experimentation and $$$!
Just bought these lights via your aff link, because your videos ROCK!...What picture style do you use for your "course" style videos?
QOD - currently no lighting kit other than inadequate DIY lighting solutions from home center. This vide inspired me to step it up and get a dedicated lighting kit. Thanks!
Really nice video. I am in the process of buying lights just like this and it came in very handy. Question: How to these compare with the lights that allow a digital adjustment, such as CAME TV?
Hey great video! These looks great for studio lights. Do you think these lights would be bright enough to light up a dance floor for reception coverage at a wedding? thanks man love your channel.
When using canon 10-22 lens, do you use autofocus? In that case.. How come you don't hear any noise from the USM motor? I have the rode mic myself but still hear the autofocus hissing noise...
Hey Sean, thanks for this. Really awesome. This review is now 4 years old. Do you recommend the same ones? is there and upgrade? different models you are eyeing now? Thanks
Hi Sean, I have a question about exporting video and computer power. Is it normal for exporting a 1080p video around 1gig in size and at 10mins in length to take 1 hour to render of 1.30 to export? I have the highest spec Macbook Air but wonder whether I should upgrade to a Pro because it's just taking way too long for me to export my videos. Thanks!
Great video and great light set! Small question: What would be the downsides of using the daylight only with a tungsten defuser vs. buying the bicolor set if one does not intend to use anything apart from 3200 and 5600k specifically?
Hi. Thanks for this great resource. Can I use these for a tv production but in a small studio more like a talk show? Howmany of these sets would I need at a time?
I'm currently using the IKAN 500 (two of them) and one IKAN 1000 as my full set fill (for the front of our bar, as it was a bit dark on the labels of the bottles). My biggest issue is the lack of depth to the light, my old halogens (may they rest in piece) threw light so much further. The LED's definitely have to be right up on your grill :)
solution... use fresnel LEDs ... absolutely the bomb!!!! they are focusable and throw light like lasers!!!!!!
Great review! Great info! Thanks for making it.
Hey Sean! Do you have any good recommendations on Budget camera sliders? Preferably for dslrs? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Love your stuff. We're torn on whether to go with the bi-color or the non-bi-color. What's the difference between going with the bi-color vs. non-bi-color with the orange diffuser?
Hello... I am getting a Canon 80D camera and wanted to know what is a good Flash Kit set for photography (BUDGET OF COURSE)....
Man you've helped me so much. Thank you!
Would people recommend the bicolor yongnuo yn300 iii? Or maybe the unicolor one? I was thinking I could buy two and get a stand kit and soft boxes with them. Is the bicolor bright enough?
Always good to know content on this channel awesome videos bro
great videos! did you color correct/grade this video at all? Looks really good!
@thinkmediaTV did you use the lighting kit for the video or just the ring light?
Keep crushing it! Thanks for the video. I'll have to look into this kit.
Your welcome - let me know what you think!
What do you recommend for video screen captures and making training videos? Best practices? Resolutions to screen capture videos?.. Thanks, love your videos.
Nice, looks like I'm going to have to look into some more robust LED panels!
Hey Sean I have a little question. Did you try increasing the video bitrate in MagicLantern ?
Do you recommend using softbox over them?
What I've been using to add a little flare is some Phillips Hue color changing bulbs. Adds a little bit of flare to product shots and B-Roll and stuff like that. That's seemed to work well but I haven't put a ton of time and thought yet into lighting myself up. (kinda sounds dumb... because it is. Hey. We're getting there! haha)
Sean!! Question: I wear glasses and I've been digging in your channel (already subscribed lol) looking for ways to not have so much light reflection and still get quality lighting for my shots. Suggestions?
These seem amazing I'm going to invest, for now in the room I record in I use two Philips day light flat led flat bulbs that are super bright
Great review! I use natural lighting. With natural lighting it forces me to shoot videos at noon. I'll look at more of your videos to decide which light is best for me.
Loving the content Sean, you are a motivation to me!
Thanks for the feedback Jay - keep crushing it!
Can you use an umbrella with these? I'm a photographer and the diffuser that it comes with doesn't really defuse to give a nice light to the face... a good diffusing needs to be away from the light
Is this better than umbrella lights or a soft box for video? I heard LED lights burn out quick
I currently just use a ring light if I'm not shooting outdoors. However, I have the small LED lights you recommended coming in the mail. They'll fit my small production well as I keep growing on UA-cam. 💪🏻
The fovitec bicolor is sold out. Any other recommendations?
Cool lights. Will look in to those. Need some lighting for my workshop. Will do some videos inside soon. But right now I think I got the best light for my videos, the sun.
I noticed that someone else commented that the ring light is unavailable. Can't seen to find if any one else has suggested an alternative to the Halo LED Ring Light. Can anyone make such a recommendation?
Hi, Nice work. What would you recommend for a 3 light setup using a background cloth? I'm going to shoot instructional videos and need to light someone standing with either a green screen or white background (not a set like your setup). I'm looking at the 3000 watt, 3 light softbox kits vs LED. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
As soon as you said further faster in media i hit the subscribe button
just bought these lights. can i change the colors ? like red, green, blue ect..?
Where can I get some decent to good soft boxes for the 176 LED Panels?
It is portátil? Can used that in exterior for photography?
What do you think About the Yongnuo YN900? love your channel, its very usefull for me right now
I'm looking for good lighting for traveling and doing fitness video. Will this one be good
I just bought the Fovitec StudioPRO Bi
I need to know which battery pack should I buy. you mentioned in your video "Sony" is it possible to get n Amazon Link? Thanks Bro great Job.
incredibly useful videos, thank you
Can I purchase your Canon ELPH 110 or 300? I can't find any that are in good condition on eBay for a good price. Amazon is trying to overprice on them. Not looking to spend over $200 on it
does this kit come with the light stand? great video!
how about the yongnuo panels? thoughts?
What do you think about rotolight aeos?
Can u do a review on soft box lights or recommend some great soft box lights
Awesome once again
If I only have one of these where should I place them?
I don't have room light do have any idea what to do
What would you get? Softbox or these LED's? What is the difference?
What did you think about the stands? I read a lot of reviews about this set where people claim that the stands are very poorly built and that they are almost a hazard for tipping over easily.
would you do a video that compares LED and Softbox lighting kit?
Love it! They test footage looked great
A tad bit out of my price range I stick with my 2 soft boxes or switch with the prismatic ring light:) Thanks Sean!!
Yeah your lighting kit is SOLID!
Keep crushing it guys :-)
thanks so much just was about to ask you to do this video
Can you do a canon Elph 160 review I checked out the canoan Elph 110 but since I live in Canada it's 370$$! I checked the used one to. Their was none available. So can u please do a canoan elph160 video
are the lights portable also?
This kit or the ring light ( Prisma ) you've reviewed ?
Great Review!
I got (3) Neewer 660 Led Panels with an LCD screen on back. Also, it came with 3 tripods and 3 chargers. All of it only cost $249.99 on Amazon. I'll be trying out the lights on a green screen next week. Is that a good deal? Btw, great video.
Love your videos :)
keep it up
Thanks - will do!
Hey man great video,
I have a question for you and whoever will be able to answer, but is it a photo/video faux pas to use different forms of lighting. For example could I use an LED and umbrellas in the same video? just wondering.
I am a small youtuber trying to understand lighting and how to light videos.
Great job keep going
Good video. Thank for you information
Are they good for green screen lighting
can u do a video on whats the cheapest but a good green screen for gaming and photoshoots and stuff??
Are the batteries linked in the description the only option or are they compatible with something cheaper. $250 for a battery is kinda insane haha.
Great review but how about the Yongnuo YN300-III? They're great. Bi-colour, really bright and they're very cheap in comparison. Great build quality too! Only drawback: 300 LEDs but seriously, really really good for the price.
Other than speed of set up, why not just get the brighter full color 600 bulb, all on, 5500K light? Wouldn't that be a brighter light at 5500k than having half of them actually be mixing at 3200K?
Yongnuo YN300 video lighting is a lot cheaper than this... But they don't come with the stands though. I imagine you could just buy that separately and end up spending half the amount. The Yongnuo set also comes with the battery instead of a power cable... Pretty odd if you ask me but it works.
Great video, just one thing to add:
Angles look better, so a straight up shot against a wall isn't the best. Even a slight angle against a background adds "depth." Keep 'em coming :)
I just realized that you & Christina Amato both live in Vegas!
She's popular on Periscope
this looks great. I might get it!
Nice - keep crushing it Miles!
THiNK Media TV thanks
