I just found your channel and I'm in love. I love your style, I love your look and I love your energy!!!! I've been sewing for 35 years, and you're a sparky ray of sunshine.❤❤❤
Obsessed with the amazing vintage fabrics!! Maybe we need a video where you spill all your vintage fabric hunting secrets 🧐 ..haha. Also every video idea you suggest sounds great! Pattern matching, photoshop mock ups, drafting cut on sleeves, I want it allllll ❤❤❤
Loved hearing you walk thru this project-great tips on batch sewing to conserve thread changes. The dress is what I’d call “fall-icious.” Sorry you don’t like set-in sleeves. I read that the importance of this is because of directional sewing keeps the garment firmly on your shoulders. Maybe try doing them as “partial” set in. Sew them in the flat between the notches. Yes you still have ease to deal with but it’s little easier since the fabric is flat. Then finish the side bodice seam and sew actual sleeve seam closed. This leaves a few inches of underarm seam open. Which you finish once you pop the sleeve back into the sleeve round and stitch closed. Agree with pattern photo shop for dummies video suggestion-that was a genius method for fabric planning.
ua-cam.com/video/L3UV-KIBGoM/v-deo.htmlsi=-icntE9OX7S2KcbT Not sure if you would be interested in above quick sleeve gathering tip, but thought of you since you are not a fan of sleeve sewing in the round 😊. Not a fancy video but to the point.
I understand about set in sleeves, they never fit me either! I realized yesterday that all my vintage dress patterns have set in sleeves!😞 I would love to make them grown on! Your dress is beautiful!
You have such perfect proportions for vintage fashion. I’m sure i only watch your videos so i can be jealous 😂 That dress is gorgeous! Even with the red rose on the sleeve in the less fortunate position, it’s still beautiful. No one will ever notice. Except us, and we won’t tell anyone! It’s the seam allowance on close fitting set in sleeves, it annoys the bejeezus out of me 😖
Was a lot of fun to watch and see the final garment. I'm a huge fan of lining clothes. When doing sewing from vintage patterns, I have a 1 inch seam allowance in order to give more play room and ease before construction. Then the adjustments are made before going to the standard seam allowance. As for set in sleeves, most require that that piece has added fullness in the middle. I have larger biceps. It helps to do 2 lines of gathering before setting it in. Create a far smoother transition.
Love this video! I’m sewing my first, vintage dress with lined bodice. Pattern instructions aren’t always written with a beginner in mind. Watching this video helped me to understand how the bodice lining is supposed to be finished at the gathered waistline! 🙌 I LOVE LOVE your channel!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love how this turned out! Beautiful fabric and work. I love the chevrons on top and the vertical strips at bottom. This made me recall a knit tank top I made in 1980 with striped fabric. I made a chevron top with spaghetti straps and a pointed waist. I loved that top!
Hi Tasha, I absoloutely would love to know how you did the photoshop mock up. That would be such a useful skill to have when working with patterned fabrics.
Hey Tutorial Tasha, please do a tutorial on photoshop, but make sure it’s a ‘For Dummies’ version since some of us (me) only know how to sew not photoshop. 😅 Beautiful job with the chevron. You’re a print matching Goddess.
I have learned soooo much from you!!! Were you a professional sewist before doing these videos???? You’re sooo smart when it comes to patterns in material.
Hi there. I love your videos although I am not vintage inclined as I am not your lovely figure shape 😢 but all of your techniques are transferable. However I’d like to know what is on your table that allows you to cut on it ? Many thanks and love your work ………..Carole in Spain
Hi Carole sorry have had a family emergency and am delayed in replying to some comments. That is a translucent self-healing mat on top of my table. You can read more about it when I re-did my sewing room in this old blog post: tashacouldmakethat.com/2016/06/creating-my-dream-cutting-table-for-sewing/
I hate autocorrect. You're a snarky ray of sunshine!❤❤❤
This fabric is soooo gorgeous! Worth the extra cutting time for sure 🤩 Resulting dress is fabulous!
Thank you so much Bianca!! 🥰 I’m soo happy I saved the fabric until the right inspiration hit! Totally worth it. ☺️

Thanks! I know what you mean about the seam allowance, in fact I went back and trimmed mine down further to help!
Yes to the photoshop tutorial. Love the dress

Gorgeous. Thank you for a lovely video.
Thanks! 😊
Yes please! I’d love to see how you use photoshop to visualize pattern layout!
Love the photoshot idea. Honestly you could do it on a phone photo editor or paint
Yep you could do it in many apps!

Some of us… me as well! 😂
Thank you! I’ll be sure if I do one I’ll break it down. ☺️
chevrons are beautiful. Love the tutorial idea.
Just gorgeous. The fabric is beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
I would also love to learn to photoshop a mockup. So cool.
I have that pattern in my vintage stash
Nice! I've sewed with it several times, I love it.
I have learned soooo much from you!!! Were you a professional sewist before doing these videos???? You’re sooo smart when it comes to patterns in material.
Thanks so much! Oh no not at all, sewing is one of my hobbies. 🥰
I love the dress! Thanks for the tips.
Thanks, you’re very welcome!
Can you do a tutorial on how you modified the bodice to have the cut on sleeve?
Thanks!
Beautiful. By the way, the roses and leaves on the bodice look like a sugar skull.
I totally agree!
Yes please. Explain what magic you did with photoshop because I'd prefer not to reinvent the wheel entirely. ;)
