    It’s just amazing the new stitches that they’ve come up with or the regular Knitting stitches with the needles, but on the loom knife first started doing the loom. I didn’t see all these fancy stitches. It’s amazing thank you.

    as the administrator of a loom knitting group, each month I offer a Challenge Yourself Project....this month, we are doing this hat!! I love the video because it is so clear. the only problem I had was that it was shorter than I like. I used 2 strands of Red Heart Yarn together as one so that might have been the problem. I made a chart for each row and what stitches went on each row and marked it off as I did it...it works up fast and pretty!! thanks for another great video!!

      Carmen Harper with your 41 peg loom what did you do with the rows that were Purl 1, knit 2 because it ends up to have 3 knit at the end.

    • @carmenh.5195
      @carmenh.5195 7 років тому

      julie latendresse : for the 41 pegs, I followed Denise's pattern under the video description which left me with only 2 pegs at the end of each row like in the pattern. Row 1 should end with 2 purls and row 2 should end with 2 knits.

    • @carmenh.5195
      @carmenh.5195 7 років тому

      the only other reasons that I can think of why you have 3 pegs at the end of the p1, k2 row is maybe you forgot to knit or purl a peg somewhere in the pattern or if the pattern is done on a 42 peg loom. Just a suggestion and I'm no expert, I would just finish the last 3 pegs you have with p1, k2. It should be barely noticeable unless you're a perfectionist! :)
      I hope I helped!

    The second row is 1 purl 2 knits . Peg 37 is a purl . So 38 & 39 are a knit. So it leaves peg 40 and 41. What i did is peg 40 a purl and 41 a knit.

  • @pamelaellis7342
    @pamelaellis7342 7 років тому

    Denise i'm a bit confused the Matching hat, the stitches are Row 1: Purl 2, Knit 1 (Purl last 2 stitches) --- Row 2: Purl 1, Knit 2 until last stitches... But on the scarf going to the right purl 2, knit 1
    going to the left knit 2, purl 1
    so it this correct my hat is a bit different then what yours looks like.

If i knit the last 2 it will give me 4 knits in a row. Is this what we should do? Or am i making a mistake somewhere? What i did purl peg 40 and knit 41

    Hi Denise, I’m 2 months new to loom knitting (or any yarn craft) and want to thank you for all your videos, they have helped a lot with getting started. Sorry I’m also new to UA-cam and commenting on here. These are probably dumb questions but I couldn’t find the answers anywhere - can you tell me does it matter whether you go clockwise or counterclockwise on the loom (is it the same stitch regardless). My rib stitch turned out funny and I wonder if my problem was I went backwards. Also, how come the farrow stitch looks different in the round than flat panel? Thanks so much.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 років тому +1

      Hi - depending on the design of the pattern and it's complexity - it does matter - but for simple stitches and most of my designs - it does not. I recommend starting with projects that better suited for beginners. With the rib stitch specifically - the direction doesn't matter. I recommend using stitch markers ua-cam.com/video/Y4053wZwm1o/v-deo.html and this video ua-cam.com/video/P31l7QDSR_w/v-deo.html

    • @pkp6241

      LoomaHat.com
      Thank you Denise. I love your stitch markers. Too much work for me to make my own but I did get the plastic ones and need them because I keep forgetting where I was. Good to know it doesn’t matter which way to knit. So in looking at some of your videos and at some of my hats, I see that the one I thought was wrong is the same stitch as in your video. I guess I thought a rib stitch is supposed to have the V pattern (1K,1P) I see you like the U knit stitch a lot. The ewrap is easiest but I know it’s loose. I just made a hat on the 41 peg loom using flat stitch and purl for the rib on brim and it turned out smaller than on a 36 peg loom on which I did the farrow stitch (I used e wrap knit stitch) brim (so the farrow stitch looks different on a hat than on a scarf (it looks amazing on your blue scarf video, I was thinking the hat would be same but was not, although nice but not as nice as scarf)? Do all stitches turn out different on a flat panel?) is there a one BEST knit stitch to use for all hats? Or a best cast on (I think I like the true cable but haven’t tried them all). I’m so sorry for asking so many questions, I am quite addicted to looming already and want to learn everything. It takes many hours to finish a project only to discover something didn’t turn out how I thought it would, so trying to find answers before I start (have pulled out too much already). But too many questions, I promise to try not bother you again.
      Thanks again and you are awesome and so are your videos!

    I loved the look of this pattern so much that I decided to do it even though I was probably too much of a beginner to be able to do it perfectly at first. I really wanted to learn a rib pattern for a brim that was a little more interesting than just the basic P1, K1. Fortunately, I quickly figured out what the stitches looked like from the reverse side so that I didn’t have count from the first peg every time I got distracted and forgot where I was. 🙃 This ought to be a great stitch for helping improve my ability to concentrate over time. But I would appreciate advice on how to use stitch markers to help keep on track with a pattern like this. I noticed stitch markers every four pegs in the video, but I don’t know how that would help with this particular pattern. P2, K1 on odd rows and P1, K2 on the even. It amazes me how easily I can get distracted and forget in the middle of doing two stitches on whether I already did two of them or not, especially when it comes to purling for some reason. 🫢😁

      Thanks for the information :). I would like to do the hat for my husband, but unfortunately I didn't found Bulky Yarn, I only found super Bulky Yarn. I know that this Yarn is not so good for hats, but if I do the hat with this Yarn I will have problems? Other question, it´s possible to do this pattern in a 24 and 36 Pegs Loom with other Yarn, for example (wool or cotton- medium Yarn)? I would like to do this pattern for my baby and my daugthers?
      I will wait for your answer.
      Thanks you very much,
      Letícia

    These girls are making beanies that have an opening for the top knot. I can't find instructions anywhere! Does anyone know where I might find a video? They are using a loom. Thanks!

      Instead of sintching it all the way closed leave it open a little ans then use elastic to close it more so that it's stretcy

    Is there a variation for this pattern on a 40 peg loom?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 років тому +1

      Claire the pattern should work the same for your 40 peg loom - just elimante the last stitch. The pattern will still look exactly the same.

    Hi, is this hat considered to be unisex? Im a guy and I really like this hat without the pom pom, but I dont wanna make it and wear it out and people think Im wearing a girls hat.... lol
    Also would there be any issues if I used three colors and make it striped?
    My apologies for questions, Ive only knitted a couple things so Im still a newbie.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 років тому +2

      Yes its unisex - but add more rows like at least 5 - 3 colors would be great - oddly enough I saw it on a guy with these 3 colors - white, gray and burgundy - looked GREAT

    Hello Denise, i have a 41 peg loom. The first is ok to finish it with 2 purl but the second row will end up with 3 knit. Is it ok ?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 років тому

      Julie - I'm a bit confused about you question because this pattern was worked on a 41 peg loom so you don't need to make any adjustments to the pattern: loomahat.com/farrow-stitch-hat

      Denise, you didn't mention on the video what to do with the extra two pegs on row 2. But I think what you meant was that you purl any extra pegs that you have, no matter what row you are on. That way, it makes the ribs on the one side.

    • @kathybrannon544
      @kathybrannon544 4 роки тому

      LoomaHat.com Hi Denise, like Ambryhawke said, in the video you say to end Row 1 with 2 purls. Then you say to end Row 2 with 2 knits. (It’s not in the written pattern - you say it in the video.) That makes 4 knits at the end of row 2 on a 41 peg loom. I followed that and ended up with one section with no rib. So she must be right that you meant to purl the last two stitches on both row 1 and 2?
      Also I did 44 rows total for a 9 inch hat - a tight beanie. I will add an inch on the next one. 36 rows is way too short.
      I love your videos, I’ve learned so many new but easy stitches that look great! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills!

      Samantha - you will need to do a swatch to figure out the number of rows - your questions require a whole new pattern - this is the one available : www.loomahat.com/farrow-stitch-hat/
