All I know is i'm a 53 year old grandma raised on the 70's hard rock .Zeppelin,Deep Purple ,Sabbath. And when I heard this today on the radio I liked it. Rock on.............
This song helped me so much with my depression... The whole Brothers album helped me with my depression... As soon as my friend showed me one of their songs, I instantly fell in love with them. I'd always think that no one would be able to churn out something this good these days, but my goodness, I was wrong..
Who would ever dislike The Black Keys? Seriously, they're revolutionary for our time, especially in their old style... it's amazing how outdated quality music is. Much love for TBK!
This is one of my favorite songs. I came across them by accident and instantly fell in love with their stuff. So, so refreshing to see people with real talent and soul. Soon as I heard them and this track in particular my first thought was, "what the hell have I been missing out on?!" Incredible, incredible band.
Just because you found black keys through another band doesn't mean everyone does, they kick more ass then any band I've heard in a while and deserve a ton of recognition
This man's singing voice is so alluring and full of passion it makes me melt. Every time I am done hearing this song I am convinced I would bear his children. They are just amazing!
I've been listening to these guys for only a short while and they are nothing short of amazing. I've gone back through their catalog from Brothers back to the Big Come Up and each album shows they are evolving in great ways while still retaining their roots. I look forward to their future endeavors and their ability to put me in my happy place no matter what I'm going through day to day. If YOU don't like it doesn't mean its not good! So Relax and Enjoy what IMO is good music!
These guys are awesome. I have them playing in my car now... sometimes on the way home from work or school or w/e I'll drive right pass my neighborhood and just cruise around my town before finally coming home, parking my car, and turning off the musik.
@tele757, can you just drop the argument and realize that the black keys are awesome. Jesus all music is good. That's why I love classical, blues, jazz, rock, even dubstep and heavy metal. Anything except rap.
My gears they grind More each day And I feel like They're gonna grind away And the city blocks They drive me wild They're never ending Mile after mile I just don't know what to do I'm too afraid to love you It's heaven on earth In her embrace Her gentle touch And her smiling face I'm just one wishing That I was a pair With someone Oh somewhere All those sleepless nights And all those wasted days I wish loneliness would leave me But I think he's here to stay What more can I do?
Such a hauntingly beautiful song...so much raw emotion and power behind this one...The Black Keys will be relevant and revolutionary for generations to come.
I am so in love with Dan's voice. And Pat's synth in this song. I remember when this video only had a few thousand hits. Glad to see more people than I thought had good taste in music.
Don't know these guys all that well but I'm starting to like them more and more. Most of the stuff I like is quite a bit heavier than this, but I find they have a groove that you just can't ignore. Powerful without being loud. Cool stuff.
a respect and appreciation of this kind of blues/rock which also exploded in the 60's 70's, making that era (civil rights, as well as women waking and taking their own rights, along with the citizenry responding to a 'war based on faulty politics') a catalyst for soul and heart art that transcends time.
Oops! Meant to start with: I will be 60 February 29, 2012 (or 15 in leap yrs.) and I love listening to the Black Keys. Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and other Blues masters, I believe, would have had ...
Wikipedia says they did an album of Junior Kimbrough songs. Its good to hear younger generations carrying on with the southern blues sounds and adding even more ideas. Look up Junior on wiki. what a great musician. I agree 21albec I like the glasses. Its an awesome video look.
AWESOME!! Saw the Black Keys at Bonnaroo this year and it was by far one of the best performances! Had no idea they recorded in my hometown Muscle Shoals!!! Hope they get more recognition they deserve because this band is full of talent!
it's cool how they added bass for the first time in this record and it fit right in. actually this bass sound is pretty fat and cool, really up front, kind of like the drums always are. i don't know how you get that sound or record that, but it sounds good. i would be cool if we lived in a world with more bass and drums.
Man.. This is fucking awesome.. I watch this quite often. Def one of my favorites on Brothers, and out of all. His glasses and him reading the lyrics and the reverb make this particular video amazing. Amazing voice, amazing music - it's sort of simplistic, yet it showcases The Black Keys' musical genius. Im not afraid to love the keys! To sum it up: I want to live in Dan's beard.
hands down the best rock n roll band out,,, making real music... sum shit u can feel. ive jus been playin the guitar for six months but i play to these guys everyday.... "HAVE MERCY ON ME" N "BLACK MUD" are 2 great songs 2 play with #lovinmusic
@TaintBruZer last year when brothers came out my ex, of six years, broke up with me. that helped a lot and it hurt to hear some of these songs. good thing i had a good friend who never left my side. but if you're going through something similar, you're not alone and it will pass. or atleast you'll be able to move on maybe you'll still think of em but hopefully deep down you'll know you don't want to be with em anymore.
@2Stardumb I have so much respect for TBK for their recording styles, this video, and their courage to have their music heard in a time where we've forgotten what real quality sounds like.. now I know.
Like I commented on one of your other songs, you sound so much like Paul Butterfield and the Electric Flag...But you are more modern. I really like you folks. Maybe add a few women backup singers on a song or two. Sting does it. Remember his Fill Her Up song. The backup gospel singers added a third musical dimension to the song, behind the country and the blues/R&B segments. You folks are quite good. I definitly want to hear more of your songs. Thanks for putting them on youtube.!!!
I will never know how can someone think about Justin Bieber while listening to this. 14 year old girls listen to him, they will grow up and stop it....Could we just forget that guy? There are plenty of reasons...for example this tune....
Cool! Got so much over 3 million since the last time I listened to this song for about dozen consecutive times... Black Keys sure know how to implement an emotion into such a simple and cool song...
no one can say what is good or bad music. every one of us can only say if he considers a song good or bad- no more no less,.. every person has his own taste and things that express him and nobody can refuse that. i am not trying to be more clever- i am just trying to make a point.. just like black keys make good music- my opinion...hope you agree(excuse for my english)
@TheCrowesgarden talent isn't just the live show or the complexity of the music. Sometimes simplicity of a tune or the novelty of a sound means more than showmanship. A kid who was born yesterday knows this :P
wow you must be super talented @tele757 especially if you have time to compose all these masterpieces in between writing 17 pages of negative comments about a band you'll never compare to in anyone's eyes except your own. you can study all the theory and composition techniques you want but at the end of the day it comes down to being able to create a song that people can vibe to. obviously based on the likes & dislikes & the fact that this video has 2mil+ views the keys know what they're doing.
ohhh I had the worst day in a long time.. and the only thing i could think of on the way home was: I just don't know what to do i'm too afraid to love you.
I wish this song'd never end.
All I know is i'm a 53 year old grandma raised on the 70's hard rock .Zeppelin,Deep Purple ,Sabbath. And when I heard this today on the radio I liked it. Rock on.............
I love how the whole dynamic changed once the bass kicked in.
This song helped me so much with my depression... The whole Brothers album helped me with my depression... As soon as my friend showed me one of their songs, I instantly fell in love with them. I'd always think that no one would be able to churn out something this good these days, but my goodness, I was wrong..
Black keys do it oldschool like nobody else does it in our days at this level. Thats why they are top band.
...And I can't afford to lose one more teardrop from my eye...
geez what a line!!
thank you The Black Keys for being there, when my ex-girl wasn't
a masterpiece....no words
I can't wait because they will blow up and everyone will love them. Just know that you are one of their 470,186 TRUE fans.
I'm wringing myself dry
And I can't afford to lose
One more teardrop from my eye ...
This is a band that's got soul!! Their entire discography is off the hook.
This song is amazing. It always sends shivers down my spine. Thank god for the Black Keys!!
i barely buy cds anymore, but every now and then when a band like this comes around, ill gladly buy it.
this song speaks volumes of hurt and pain. It's beauty lies in its fluidity and message. I absolutely 100% love this song.
Who would ever dislike The Black Keys? Seriously, they're revolutionary for our time, especially in their old style... it's amazing how outdated quality music is. Much love for TBK!
And as I said, the song you suggested wasn't a bad listen, and I respect the talent that group has.
This is HENDRIX energy. Close your eyes, let the music come in to you and you'll feel Hendrix. Incredible
This man's singing voice is so alluring and full of passion it makes me melt. Every time I am done hearing this song I am convinced I would bear his children. They are just amazing!
Black Keys kick ass live. I saw them last Friday and the whole crowd was smoking and grooving. BEST CONCERT EVER!
A stunning remarkable band. The lack of credit they get for what they do is just more evidence of the absolute state of modern music.
I'm a music lover, i can't stand a day without listening music. I can't stand a day without this song. Most awesome song for ages !
These guys are awesome. I have them playing in my car now... sometimes on the way home from work or school or w/e I'll drive right pass my neighborhood and just cruise around my town before finally coming home, parking my car, and turning off the musik.
One of the greatest songs ever. Simply excellent.
@tele757, can you just drop the argument and realize that the black keys are awesome. Jesus all music is good. That's why I love classical, blues, jazz, rock, even dubstep and heavy metal. Anything except rap.
My gears they grind
More each day
And I feel like
They're gonna grind away
And the city blocks
They drive me wild
They're never ending
Mile after mile
I just don't know what to do
I'm too afraid to love you
It's heaven on earth
In her embrace
Her gentle touch
And her smiling face
I'm just one wishing
That I was a pair
With someone
Oh somewhere
All those sleepless nights
And all those wasted days
I wish loneliness would leave me
But I think he's here to stay
What more can I do?
Such a hauntingly beautiful song...so much raw emotion and power behind this one...The Black Keys will be relevant and revolutionary for generations to come.
I am glad alot of people are finally catching onto these guys and appreciating the fantastic, honest, and real music they make.
Cool stuff.
don't be too afraid to love this song!
wow these guys continue to produce music so powerful that you can feel it to the darkest depths of you're soul!
a respect and appreciation of this kind of blues/rock which also exploded in the 60's 70's, making that era (civil rights, as well as women waking and taking their own rights, along with the citizenry responding to a 'war based on faulty politics') a catalyst for soul and heart art that transcends time.
Whole lot of soul in this kid's voice.
Thank you for this song, these lyrics, the emotion and the vibes that yall were able to capture and share .... I love this song.. I love it.
never been more blown away by a live band more than by these dudes. 2 guys but you'd swear that there where 5 of them. respect that
I don't get why people dislike great music like this
I think this two guys are great. My God, so sweet, I´m a rock lover and never I heard a two players band who do it so nice.
Oops! Meant to start with: I will be 60 February 29, 2012 (or 15 in leap yrs.) and I love listening to the Black Keys. Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and other Blues masters, I believe, would have had ...

Black Keys are the sickest
when this song first came on i thought nothing of it, but as it progressed... i was mesmerized.
Love this song. True musicians. Real, raw talent.
AWESOME!! Saw the Black Keys at Bonnaroo this year and it was by far one of the best performances! Had no idea they recorded in my hometown Muscle Shoals!!! Hope they get more recognition they deserve because this band is full of talent!
His voice just says "I'm resurrecting Rock, " just listen
it's cool how they added bass for the first time in this record and it fit right in. actually this bass sound is pretty fat and cool, really up front, kind of like the drums always are. i don't know how you get that sound or record that, but it sounds good. i would be cool if we lived in a world with more bass and drums.

All the best rap music comes from sampling music like this...
@TheCrowesgarden talent isn't just the live show or the complexity of the music. Sometimes simplicity of a tune or the novelty of a sound means more than showmanship. A kid who was born yesterday knows this :P
absolutely mesmerizing- like a french woman in a black dress
WOW...!!!!

Too good. Its great they dont put it on mainstream radio cause it will ruin it like other great songs.
Love it and always will, not too afraid..

wow you must be super talented @tele757 especially if you have time to compose all these masterpieces in between writing 17 pages of negative comments about a band you'll never compare to in anyone's eyes except your own. you can study all the theory and composition techniques you want but at the end of the day it comes down to being able to create a song that people can vibe to. obviously based on the likes & dislikes & the fact that this video has 2mil+ views the keys know what they're doing.

Just so much retro awesomeness
So raw and so perfect, pure art carefully squeezed out from music.
I really hope I dont out play this song. Ive been playing it every hour for two weeks straight and Im still just as amazed when I first saw it.
even though I am missing a speaker channel, this is still the best song of the last 13 months since it was posted.

how could anyone not like at least one of their songs, if not all?
I want to elope with this song, that is how amazing it is, enough said.
@theindivindual Along with that path, they added a 70's tone. And immense passion!
I love The Doors feel to it
if you like this check out more of their stuff, they have such amazing variety.
Gran gran gran tema me encanta, es absolutamente seductor. Saludos desde México
@tele757
I beg to differ...pure blues singing from the heart...delivered in a soulful manner.
