Chulahoma is a collection of songs that were originally written by the late Junior Kimbrough, reworked and recorded, The Keys capture the very essence of Juniors style better than any other musician today. Roomy and sparse in production the drums/guitar duo fill out every inch of these songs with distorted guitar, drums, and Dan’s soulful vocals.

Most definitely. Word was Jack White had beef with them, saying they were copying his style. It worked out great for us it caused both the black keys and white stripes to turn it up a notch creating the best alternative blues music possible.

I adore this album & haven't listened to it in such a long time. I feel right at home rediscovering it. So beautiful & raw & those riffs are making my soul sing, in the most melancholic, nostalgic way.

Meet me in the City is my favourite song. I have listened to many songs from many eras and many genres going back hundreds of years. Many have been great. But The Black Key's version of a good ol' Kimbrough song is my favourite.
Seing this two guys playing live Chulahoma is one of the biggest dreams of my life

We played this album in Nangarhar one night when we had a big come up the next morning before dawn and we all knew some of us wouldn't be around by sunset next day. We were 4/10 men out of Louisiana. Best send off we ever had.

Jr is a MS Hill Country Blues man. Different beat and sound than. MS Delta Blues. Well worthy of the praise and homage by The Black Keys.

I listen to every genre made from Phish, Miles Davis, Bill Monroe, Leadbelly, Hendrix, Janes Addiction, Flaming Lips, Fela Kuti. I don't know how I could formulate a desert island collection. This album is right up there though.

Got this when it first came out on CD. I didn't even know who Junior was so thanks Dan and Pat for the musical education. So awesome you guys are making sure Junior gets a historical marker for his contributions to music.

That's pity the music of this album is great but the sound quality is really low here. Just too much noise, awful to listen. Weak bass. The digital version is also completely brickwalled and too loud. A lo-fi music for average Spotify and radio listeners.
The Black Keys don’t have a bass player. This is literally 2 dudes. And these tunes are covers. It’s on purpose.
