This is the best tutorial ever. I've watched SO many and they don't explain the extension or weights. I went from the standard weights they provide (2 large ones, 4 smaller ones) to absolutely none (no fasteners either). It's insanely smooth now. Thanks so much!
Yes, this is definitely the BEST tutorial on a stabilizer. I had mine set with ALL the weights and a really light Sony camcorder. Now it's seriously light weight and the side drop is much slower and the camera doesn't swivel around like the bobble head doggy in the back window of a car. We thank you very much and we shall subscribe to your channel! Thank you!
I looked at your channel, I am assuming you are a Israeli? How come they are so strict in giving VISAS!!! Do you have any suggestions? LOL sorry I don't mean to put you on the spot. I just love history and in particular Religious History I really want to GO once at least!
I am not person that clicks like for anything but I saw 100 videos of people doing tutorial about his and you are only one who actually teaches me right thanks and here is one big like from me
Finally, an in-depth tutorial with a comprehensive how-to with video demonstrations. I finally feel confident. Your detail is what help me stabilize. Thank you for taking the time. Much appreciated.
Excellent, jargon-free tutorial. The section on slowing down 'the drop' was very helpful. A lot of other videos on this item tend to forget about 'the drop'. Thank you.
This is very detail and complete instruction on how to balance the stabilizer. I have done my NEEWER with the camcorder. This works perfect. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for taking the time do explore the set up. Your presentation and demonstration was so much better and more helpful than every other video I watched. I now feel confident about buying and using this product for my own needs.
Your intentions are very good and you are trying to help others which is very honourable. But there are a few things that are wrong. The quick release plate is not meant to slide in as there is a metal brake that is there precisely to prevent it from sliding off. Instead the quick release plate goes in from top to bottom like when you insert a tripod plate into a tripod head. Secondly, if you place the camera near the rear of the quick release plate it wont stick out so much and block your left/right adjustment knob. Then you wont have to turn it around the wrong way facing the front like you did, and you can keep the left/right adjustment knob facing you. Finally, the proper way to balance a stabilizer is to do the drop test first, and then make the camera position adjustments instead of doing the other way around like you did. Also the drop test is from horizontal to vertical (90°) and not from horizontal to horizontal as you are doing. Last tips: the handle is held to the side of the rod and not behind it, and doing it outside may be a little more difficult as even the slightest wind breeze will throw the balance off.
Thanks for the tips. I came up with an idea this morning to use little magnets to dial in the balance instead of trying to move the plate around. I haven’t tried it yet but hopeful it’s a quicker way to make those final tiny adjustments.
Well.. I watched so many videos trying to understand how to use my stabiliser and it was too complicated or confused. Ur video was easy to understand and very useful. Who cares if isn't professional or not using the correct terminology... Your way worked so much better and now I can finally use my stabiliser... thanks!
There an issue here . I think haters just think that a beautiful woman can’t do it as well as they do. Well let me tell you, this has been incredible useful to me . Thanks ! I just purchase this and had no clue about how to use it . Now I do!
Yes I agree. THE Best video for stabilising. Why? Because you showed it in real-time and the reality of this patience-testing exercise. I think I have an idea for how to make this process more efficient. Let me make a video, but thank you.
I got the same model you're using, do you know if there's a way to buy one of the blue screw knobs that go where the camera is mounted? I'm missing one of them.
Thanks so much for this video.. This helped me get mine dialed in!! I've been spoiled by gimbals, maybe eventually I'll get a Ronin-S but for now I want to see what I can pull off with this gear. :)
Good video!! I had no luck finding a video that teaches exactly how a stabilizer works to where I can take any stabilizer and make it work with any camera. I watched the entire video and now I know what do to!!!
no one else suggested taking off the weights or that the camera should be about twice as heavy as the bottom. i finally got mine to swing slowly. thanks!!!
Very nice presentation. Just for that I think I'll get one, I have the NEEWER shoulder mount with the offset and really like it. For us not so rich Camera owners its nice to be able to up our skills and not put out thousands of $$. I really liked this video and the straight forward commentary. I fully understood it . Thank you.
I just received my NEEWER Stabilizer from AMAZON yesterday, Thanks to this video I was able to get it basically set up in about 30 mins, before running off to work. When I got off work , that night, I changed from the Nikon 70-300 mm lens to the Nikon 18-55 mm lens on my Nikon D5300 and had to reset but found it to be fairly quick to reset. I then did some videos inside to see how it works and I was surprised to see how stable the shots were even though I know I really have to practice to get it to be a lot smoother. This video had me up and going so easily. Thanks so much.
see, the first part you have to adjust is find the center gravity between the camera and the quick releasing plate with the help of a rod in a flat surface and than fix the quick releasing plate exactly where the center portion is approximately. than the second part to adjust is the stemp (Rod) with the help of counter weight and adjusting the rod from in and out. than the last part is to adjust is the camera towards front and back or left to right vice versa. this is the procedure to adjust the glide cam my dear mam.if it is helpful comment here.
this is very frustrating, with the canon m50 its so light that the weights at the bottom are too heavy with the pole being at the shortest it can be. removing the weights make it too light! very frustrating
Thank you for this video! Do you think this stabilizer is lighter and easier to hold than the Glidecam? I tried the Glidecam and my arm was shaking in the first minute....and I even work out. :( I have a motorized gimbal, but really would prefer a stabilizer like yours here in the video. Thoughts? Please and thanks!!
Thanks for the video I think they way to stabilize it it’s pretty intuitive. Or logic. I just didn’t know how to shorten the pole hahaha I couldn’t figure it out on mine. I’m gonna try it now turning the nob hahaha. Thanks for the help
Hi there! Thank you so much for the video, I got mine almost perfectly balanced. However, the drop is still too short, about a second and a half. I cannot shorten the pole any more and if I remove another small plate, my camera (Canon 760d) becomes too heavy for the stabilizer to keep steady. I'm not sure what I can do more. Would you have any suggestions ? :) Cheers!
If your camera is to light try adding weight to the camera like a polarizer, neutral density or skylight filter. If the camera is to heavy lengthen the shaft. If the camera is to light w/ 1 pair of weights (drop time to fast) and to light w/ no weights (drop time to slow) go to the hardware store and buy an assortment of washers. Try to find a combination that is about 1/2 the weight of the weights that came w/ the stabilizer.
thanks for this great tutorial. I spent one complete afternoon trying to do this with my Canon XA wihout any satisfying results. Tried everything, but it drove me crazy. Maybe it's because of the cam (i found nobody using Stabilizer on the web - forums or videos - with this type of camcorder. It's a shame cause it's good products, but everything's DSLR only), maybe i'm too stupid. I'm exhausted :D
ok i have a problem.. when i try to stabilize the camera with my stock lens(nikon d3300 - nikkor 18-55) it doesn't seems to work like i need less weight.. but i only have one weight and the pole is all the way up.. do you have any advice? (note. when i switch lens 55-135 which is a heavier lens it works well) i need some pointers! or what can i do?
That camera is pretty light, I don't have this particular stabilizer but if taking off all of the weights and keeping the pole all the way up still has too fast of a drop speed then you'll need to find a way to add weight to the top by where the camera is.
My ways. First always carry a coin instead of knives and screwdrivers. Second adjust the pole weight first and later the heads. Third sit comfortable and adjust it. Bu the way you are very cool and patient and your video says who you might be. You are too beautiful to be a camera person😊 nice video and nice voice.
We've bought 2 weeks ago a similiar stabilizer. It is now horizontal and vertical well balanced. And it works as long as we are standing still. When we are moving forward the camera immediately turns to the right. A little other adjustment and it turns to the left. Adjustmens were made with the plate or the counterweights distances. A tiny little bit of adjusting is necessary but we can't figure it out. Has anyone a hint? Mounted cam isn't a DSLR, it is a mirrorless Fujifilm X T-20.
This type of problem always stems from the type of lens one is using. Before even trying to balance any camera with any type of stabilizer, analyze how the camera balances with respect to the lens. A well balanced camera and lens, meaning the weight between the body and the lens is distributed evenly, will be a lot easier to balance with a stabilizer / gimbal / steadicam. Also, make sure your in-camera or lens stable-shot is off when using a stabilizer or you will get awful results if not.
This was helpful as my equipment is very similar. However I'd invest in better tools (i.e. not a plastic knife) and shorten the video a little. Thank you though!

There will always be some residual movement. Ease into your shots and don't make sudden movements
