Seattle is fun to watch on both sides of the ball. Geno is underrated. Lions have a buy this week, perfect time to watch the Seahawks play someone else and enjoy!
Not too upset at the loss. Seattle was competitive and could have won the game without a few big mistakes (DK fumble, Locket 4th down penalty, etc). That stuff happens. Having 6 starters out on the defense clearly played an impact on McDonald's defense.
I was not even mad at DK’s fumble, he took a brutal hit from outta no where, didn’t get a sec to brace himself and the hits you don’t see coming that hurts the most.
I think the Lions defense was inadvertently hurt by how effective the Lions offense was. You could see this in time of possession. Lions defense normally gets a lot of rest time since we're a ground and pound possession type team mostly. But the pass and big junk plays were so effective that in the second half the defense looks significantly worse
Seahawks were down both starting Edge players (ballers), both Defensive Ends (both formers 1st round picks), one starting inside linebacker and down to our 3rd string right tackle. Then we lost our Pro Bowl starting safety in the first half.
Dude it's not like the rest of the O-line sucks. Detroit has probably a top 5 O-line in the league easy, even without Ragnow. For the neutral fan this was an amazing game! As a Lions fan I was really nervous. The Lions defence took the second half off... Geno Smith looked amazing...
Detroit's defense was absolutely gassed by the fourth quarter because once again Ben Johnson failed to control the clock with the Run. Detroit's offense had the ball almost 10 minutes less than Seattle's.. Detroit was also missing some key pieces on defense
As a Lions die hard since the lean years, Sherm is right. Defense played good but WAY too many mistakes and penalties. Definitely look better than last year but we need to tighten up
As a Twelve I was disappointed in the loss but not in our team. The offense played it's butt off and as for the D, I'm pretty sure that Goff and the Lions O doesn't have the night they had if we weren't missing like our entire starting D line. But props to the Lions, they are a good team and might make it to their 1st ever Superbowl this year. I like this podcast but I have to say that I'm surprised as heck that Sherm is not coaching DB's somewhere. While it's true that not all that can do, can coach, as part of the legendary LOB, Sherm was one of the best if not the best DB in the league for a while. And a large part of his game was his mental prowess. I think it would be awesome if he was putting his knowledge into the heads of our young DB's Woolen and Witherspoon!
@travLee7 it wouldn't have been forced though if DK wasn't doing too much. He already had the 1st down, but he took it upon himself to truck his way through linebackers for an extra half yard.
@@luism3056 and the Seahawks scored more points on Lions than they did the Broncos, Patriots or Dolphins, what's your point? Seahawks were robbed of a 2pt conversion, an obvious PI in the endzone and a terrible OPI call on a 4th down conversion. This game was essentially TDs by both teams on every drive and whoever had the ball last wins, until that OPI. It was a close game. New coach, tons of injuries, road game, this was the Lions Super Bowl. They won 1 out of the last 7 games and got very arrogant quickly.
What a game! I’m not saying lions weren’t banged up but they weren’t banged up in the entire front 7😂. Easy W for the lions; what’s the saying? “If we don’t go, they don’t go” I can’t wait to hopefully see them in the playoffs again! 💚💙
All 2-point after TD plays are reviewed, regardless of what the the television guys said. Metcalf's knee was out of bounds. Jamo has 13 catches for 289 yards this season plus 3 runs for 21 yards. That equates to 4 touches and 76 yards a game on a Top 5 NFL offense averaging 397 yards a game. I think the brain-trust of the Lions knows the score on how to use Jamo. What is interesting this season is that there are 3 NFC North teams with Top 10 offenses this season with the Lions, Packers and Vikings. Very tough division this season so far. Thanks for the excellent show and insights.
@@justinland1208 Thanks, but I'm not from Flint, or live anywhere close to Michigan and drink clean surface water. We'll take the W and the failed conversion. Be safe out there.
We’re still in the very beginnings of the new Seahawks era. Quite frankly, I didn’t think we were going to win this game against the Lions, this time. There’s simply too much new stuff, and obviously we had plenty of injuries too. This loss however revealed that we have pockets of lacking discipline that need to be corrected. This means we need to develop more leaders that can replace people like Leonard Williams to maintain defense in the event we go through this injury mayhem again. Also, didn’t help that in some key moments the refs were clearly against the Hawks (*cough cough* should’ve been a successful 2-pointer)
I agree. There was a lot of Holding of our Defensive front but only called once. The Lions O was allowed to do pretty much whatever they wanted, since we were at Ford Stadium, anyway. Oh, and it was great to watch that Lineman land right on top of Geno with a “no call”. Good stuff.
If you consider Goff got 292 yard on 18 passes 18 completions compared to Geno throwing 52 times 38 completions to get his 395 yards I would say Goff was more efficient.
Was not a blowout in my opinion. Actually, if the ref doesn’t throw that flag on Lockett with 8:00 left, the game might have been tied with around 4:00 to play? One of those games that came down to 5-6 plays. Seattle happens to send pressure off the corner or from the Safety position, as Detroit happens to have the right play called…3 times, burned all three times by the right play at the right time. I think McDonald got out schemed by Johnson. Down 6 starters on Defense, it went better than I could have hoped. Detroit was just a little better. It happens.

@GBsavant Dang I'm surprised but I think you're right! Had to Google it really quick. Mlb has played 238,500 games and has only had 24 perfect games ever. That's .0001 percent. Nfl has played 17,727 and has had 1 "perfect game" which is .00005, so much lower. Although I'd still debate the requirements to earn a "perfect game" is much higher for an mlb pitcher! They can't make any mistake and every stat has to be 0s for the other offense. It would be like if Goff had gone 18/18 AND had 0 sacks with 100% 3rd down conversion rates
Seahawks D had a long night, but hawks offense can score with the best of them. So many weapons! And again I can’t stop saying this I’m so happy this team has been smart in NOT drafting a QB! Geno needs another extension at the end of the season.
They didnt dominate Seattle. Seattle had more TOP, rushing and passing yards, 1st downs, and offensive snaps. DKs fumble was the difference. Didnt help Detroit was allowed to get away with murderous holding

decades is a bit much dont u think? ONE decade, i will give u though
Love the podcast, Richard!
Good game Hawks. Go Lions!
Thanks Richard Sherman - for putting everything in perspective , a Lions fan .
Lions fan, great game. Just curious, is Geno as good against other teams because damn he is a pain in the ass for us!
Lions had missing starters also …
@@chriswil5919 Not as many as Seattle though. Their whole D line was backups. Either way, was a good game by both teams. Congrats to the Lions.
we win this game even if the refs call the game right. not impressed with detroit
I was not even mad at DK’s fumble, he took a brutal hit from outta no where, didn’t get a sec to brace himself and the hits you don’t see coming that hurts the most.
DK played good. but that fumble was huge
The flags were ridiculous
I’m not a big Seahawks fan, but Gino Smith is awesome and getting better. He’s so fun to watch ,nothing to be ashamed of
Lions were down 4 starters. Pro bowl center and 3 guys on defense.
Seahawks were down both starting Edge players (ballers), both Defensive Ends (both formers 1st round picks), one starting inside linebacker and down to our 3rd string right tackle. Then we lost our Pro Bowl starting safety in the first half.
And the Inside Linebacker we had in place of the other one is a rookie and not the Day 1 starter type of rookie either.
Seahawks were down 7 starters… your point lol
Dude it's not like the rest of the O-line sucks. Detroit has probably a top 5 O-line in the league easy, even without Ragnow. A great O-line regardless going against the Seahawks practice squad on the d-line, what do you think is gonna happen? But anyways, congrats on the win. Took the Lions like 6 years but it's all good ;) GG
@@halfrican92 we were down our starting DE,starting OLB, our best safety and pro bowl center. Every team has injuries. Geno definitely balled out and if K9 can stay healthy the dude is legit. Good luck the rest of the season. Always an entertaining game with Seahawks. Glad to get a win for a change!
Would it have even been a game if the Lions didn’t have Goff, St. Brown, Gibbs and Montgomery? Yet people are praising Goff for beating a decimated defense.
As a 49er fan I have to say this was one of the best Monday night games ever. Both offenses looked super. Not looking forward to playing either of them.
This Lions fan is looking forward to playing you Niners. Hope you guys get healthy soon.
Always like to hear sherms opinion after a game. Always speaking the truth.
Detroit looked really good last night. Wish it wasn’t at the expense of the ‘Hawks, but that’s alright. They lost the turnover battle and in a shootout, that’s usually the difference in the game. Regardless, fun game to watch. Both teams were throwing haymakers. Detroit just landed a couple more. Mike will get these boys ready to go next week. Keep it up GENO & K-9. That was plenty good enough to beat most teams. Respect to Detroit!
Seattle v Detroit matchup is Domi V Probert. We keep going at it in slugfests
yeah, hard to be mad when the game could have gone the other way with the difference of 2 - 3 plays. Easily the best game of the week.
Seattle
- Uchenna Out (DE)
- Leonardo Williams Out (DT)
- Byron Murphy Out (DT)
- Boye Mafe Out (DE)
- Jerome Baker Out (LB)
- Julian Love injured and Out during game
With this many injuries I can’t be upset with the outcome. It actually makes me excited to see the team get its top talent back on defense and see Seattle rise up to the challenge and not stall.
And these guys are no bums. Them 3 Mafe, Williams, murphy all top 15 in pressure. Nwosu was top dog from last year. But let's give em that pass
So many excuses just take the lost
Pro bowl center Frank Ragnow
Brian Branch S
Marcus Davenport EDGE
Derrick Barnes OLB
Iffy CB
4 major contributing starters and a really good back up CB in Iffy. Stop making excuses.

@troyclaerhout2412 who!? 😆
Hawks fan here, not too hurt or bothered by this L. We were extremely thin on the DL and we had a ton of mistakes that Detroit took advantage of, as any good team should. We needed an L to reset and get back on track, great game but it's time to focus on the Giants! #GoHawks
If geno smith played every team as well as he does Detroit, he’d literally be the GOAT. His stats against the lions the past few years are off the charts, I don’t get it.
@@tayche1 maybe Geno is actually a good QB?! maybe he finally has a competent coordinator that knows how to get the ball to their weapons?!?
@@DerkmanXno he's asking why he doesn't play like this against every team. It's just the Lions where he consistently plays high caliber.
It's the OLine. If we had more than one guy towing the line, we could be more successful. I am tired of Bradford...
@@geordiejones5618 sorry lol I automatically go into Geno defense mode. People have been trashing him for years and I've seen his potential and now people are finally starting to believe that he can be the guy
@@DerkmanX Baker and Gino (and Goff) are good examples of why you don't give up on people. Gino is very talented.
KWIII's helmet hit the ground on that flip. Should have be down.
that was an egregious missed call. Shameful!
Should have been a PI on Metcalf in the end zone. The pick at the end of the game should have been an incomplete pass.... Should've would've could've...... what's your point?
@AlexDMar1899
Egregious misuse of the word "egregious".
One of my favorite matchups throughout the last few years. Feels good to be the better team finally lol
For the neutral fan this was an amazing game! As a Lions fan I was really nervous. The Lions defence took the second half off... Geno Smith looked amazing...
I’m not saying Seahawks are bad, but this was their first time playing a real team so far in the season
Detroit's defense was absolutely gassed by the fourth quarter because once again Ben Johnson failed to control the clock with the Run. Detroit's offense had the ball almost 10 minutes less than Seattle's.. Detroit was also missing some key pieces on defense
@@Lionize728
You mean 19 passes and 28 runs? You’re right way too much passing.
Not fun at parties, are ya, bud? Lol
Seattle O showed up to play!!! D....not so much. It cost Seattle the game.
Defense no good without the "heat seeking missile " brian branch .
As a Lions die hard since the lean years, Sherm is right. Defense played good but WAY too many mistakes and penalties. Definitely look better than last year but we need to tighten up
Lions play aggressive.... Tends to bring calls.
LOB did the same
Don’t forget , yall just got good . We’ve been the standard of the west , everyone have made there defense to mimic Seattle since 2013
The Lions got real lucky facing the Seahawks missing 6 starters on defense. They don’t want to see Seattle on the playoffs!
Sherman just wants goff to throw an interception 😂
Kenneth Walker looks strong after his injury.
As far as losses go, that one was pretty tolerable. I like the lions so if we had to lose anybody, I’m OK it was them.
The David Montgomery run was spectacular.
It’s crazy how much one play can change a game, no DK fumble, who knows what happens 🤷🏽♂️
@@D_REX80 But that’s the name of the game, hard to hold the ball when a massive LB hit sticks you like that.
Same deal with the Goff receiving TD.
DK: “Drive Killer”
Forced fumble.
@travLee7 it wouldn't have been forced though if DK wasn't doing too much. He already had the 1st down, but he took it upon himself to truck his way through linebackers for an extra half yard.
Idk why seahwaks fans want to start pulling out the injury card. They went 3-0 playing injury ridden teams. But it didnt matter those times? Cool
Miami was missing Tua, that's a legitimate excuse. No doubt that game would've been different with him there.
Nobody said it didn't matter those times though?
what were the injuries on the Broncos and Patriots?
Sorry, the gauntlet of nobody QBs*. won by 6 against a rookie and then went to overtime against Jacoby brissett ... essentially the same thing.
“If we don’t go, they don’t go”
I can’t wait to hopefully see them in the playoffs again! 💚💙
Having over 500 yds and loosing a game has to be sicking!!
Losing* sickening*
Come on man🤦♂️
Respect to Sherman for calling the lions DPI calls “questionable” knowing full well the LOB got away with way worse no calls back in the day lol
This matchup never fails to entertain. Basically first team to score wins
Seattle has had problems protecting QBs forever. Russell used to run for his life but the team and qb play was good enough to overcome
If the Lions took longer to score, time of possession may have been more balanced as 10 minutes represents a drive or two compared to a 70 yd TD pass!
Lions D was extremely banged up too, plus the main part of our Oline was injured and last year Ragnow being out was almost a disaster every time
Purely based on football analysis, this is better than night cap
Best game of the year so far both teams most definitely are for real
Impressed with the Hawks. I dont think any team in the league was going to beat Detroit last night.
And what kills me is how when teams lose to us they makeup excuses but when they whooping our ass they talk shit

@@itemblock882 Lol exactly. Good game to them.
Shout out to cliff avril, golden Tate and Nate burleson the Detroit Seahawks lol

Wasn’t one of his completions a 70 yard reception from a missed tackle on a crossing route?
11 yards in the air, another 59 yards after the catch
Due to the weird logic of the modern day sport, thats a GREAT pass...
Btw i understand reading routes creates yac, but sometimes its just a blown coverage or a great wr
It is 12 yards per pass to 6 it is more efficient
@@kvmiswhoiam that wasnt a missed tackle. he didnt even have a chance to tackle due to the speed of Jamo and the clear route ran by ARSB.
It happens.
Most seahawks fans are classy and respectful so it's easy to say we both werent even playing 100% we both were missing at least 4 key players on each team and look what we put out on primetime don't hang yalls head that game was a banger so i actually gotta disagree sherm it wasnt quite a blowout yall hung in there

Not demoralizing, Lions needed the win more than Seattle did. Seattke needed a loss, and whether people want to disagree or not Seahawks defensive was substanially more banged up so im not mad at the defense. Seahawks & Lions defenses both were bad, really bad. Lions scored more, but Seattles offense looked better imo.... minus the oline of course 😂
Seahawks basically lost most of its defense players to injuries. The offense is looking much better than previous 4 games.
It doesn't hurt...Im proud of our Hawks who played an all backup DL with a lot of heart. I doubt Goff would have veen perfect if Boye Maffe or Nosou were playing. So ..good for the Lions but I dont consider this a sensational win. AND ..Geno Smith ..wow !!!!

GREAT GAME ON A MONDAY NIGHT
I'm sorry but there is NO way you can compare Goff going 18/18 with 16 checkdowns to throwing a perfect game in the mlb😂 it was a great game by Goff but its not even close to the same thing. 1:56
I get your points but considering this has never happened before what you’re saying is just statistically not true. This is a rarer achievement
Lions had 3 defensive starters out too
For some reason our injuries never get brought up 😂😂
3-1 gohawks
Honestly say what you want about the Lions defense we only allowed five pass tds through 4 games
carlton's pi was "debatable" but not tyler's. that's a serious homer take imo. both were bs.
Seahawks D had a long night, but hawks offense can score with the best of them. So many weapons! And again I can’t stop saying this I’m so happy this team has been smart in NOT drafting a QB! Geno needs another extension at the end of the season.

Geno extension coming at the end of the season 💰 he’s established himself among the best at his position. And he only keeps getting better.
They didnt dominate Seattle. Seattle had more TOP, rushing and passing yards, 1st downs, and offensive snaps. DKs fumble was the difference. Didnt help Detroit was allowed to get away with murderous holding
