- The legendary Systema founder, Colonel Ryabko is known for his magnificent ability to strike. Very few people in the world are able to deliver punches of so much power, precision, and diverse effect on the receiver. Filmed in the early 2000s, in these three episodes, Mikhail Ryabko demonstrates a huge variety of strikes and explains how he does this.

A true Jedi. When he hit me it felt like a sledgehammer went through me and up my spine and just as quickly he used another hit to remove the pain and tension and just like that I recovered but the memory has remained strong in me.
Systema is based on biomechanics, and for example Ryabko is the true artist of systema biomechanics.
@@kimmonurmi3074 That is one aspect. Listen to the last 10 Minutes of this video carefully and you see that there is a lot of inner laws too. Like how you see the opponent. It has to do with merci and looking for the good of the other person. This is why the officer so often ha tears in the eyes....
Amazing. So much wealth of information in this film. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for all your videos. I’ve been wanting to learn and train with all the ways you teach for a while. Trying to fallow at home with punching upright bag. Please keep up the great work on your videos it is much appreciated.
True legend outstanding teacher
RIP Mikhail...

words get deeper everytime i watch it.
Truer words could not be spoken. Like systema punches penetrating deeper the better you get, the video hits deeper every time I watch!
Thank you 🇬🇧☺️
THIS may be the single most important video I can see in a long while. Kinetic psychotherapy via Systema. A true master & amazed, adult teacher-student, who gets it. It's a privilege to observe this. Thank you, Mikhail Ryabko. And all 3, for a new understanding.
Yes very therapeutic to watch!
This is like watching a 2022 rapper explaining how he creates his music
🙄
What an absolutely amazing human being he is. This is true mastery of self.
cool ty for sharing !
I feel good just by looking the vidéo, what a master !
He looks like Paulie from Goodfellas.
Now I can't unsee it...
legend!!!
He punched me and i did not believe at all before.. then i realised... 4 meters after...
Jesteś mistrzem
didn't know that James Hetfield does Systema...
And the Great Man is gone..A legend 😢😢
So reminiscent of Bruce Lee and JKD. ❤HE IS SO AMAZING 😮
Who's the police guy in the beginning and end? Does train police in New York or what?

Thank you Mikhail for being the human being you are. And thank you to this channel for posting.
I’ve been hit by him...& it’s no joke..
How badly did it hurt? 😅
And how
Right
A systema punch is *devastating*
Yeah when you not moving and just standing there waiting to get punch, in a real fight your opponent won't stand still wait to get punch, how will you do all this to a movie target
The Russian guy, teaching the Yanks a very good lesson.
He just rag dolled that guy
What an amazing man , and martial art! The world is now at a loss
10:21 Ddam - pretty high ISraeli tolerance for, pain suffering.
lets see the ton the pectoral muscle - right on the sternum is a no brainer
А палец на кулаке не сжат что б сломать?
R.I.P

So that guy flying and rolling backward isn’t, maybe part of the scam? I’m sure he packs a punch but gimme a real already with these seminars and guys rolling a mile back. See that happen in a street fight
I'm 80kg.
When I've been hit by him, my feet didn't touch the ground as the strike broke my entire structure.
Don't juge with youtube filter. Give it a real go.
Когда это произошло с вами ?
It's unfortunate that it was hard for this translator to keep up with Michael. He butchered the meaning pretty bad. Sorry for the English speakers and for Mikes Systema being misunderstood. At 4:56 translator is asking Michael to hold on, as he tries to come up with the right words and again misses relaying the correct message.
Браво маэстро
Thank You Colonel Ryabko ! Very interesting art form here. This has been my 1st encounter with your system & I wish I had seen it in my youth 4 decades ago. I was knocked out by The Master of Masters , whom many believe is just a myth , and although I have seen many artists in action , I think that your form is closest to his since it looks very deceptive yet has the desired effect. The Master quickly devastated any attacker & seemly did it without spilling a drop from his tea cup. I think you could possibly do the same as he although it would be good Russian vodka ..............
Who is this matter of masters?

What is this? Hypnosis?? 😃
😁
This is what I mean when I say you don't see actual martial arts masters in mma.
I like BJJ but never took an interest in MMA at all, it's such a trend now and it's just another showy case of practical martial arts turned into sport. BJJ purely on its own is similarly practical, reliant on minimal effort/conservation of stamina and so on, and was specifically designed so that being bigger, stronger and heavier wouldn't necessarily be an advantage if you know the technique, similarly applicable in everyday scenarios to Systema. People looking for real world techniques would be best looking at one or both of them for inspiration.
I Agree
@@ilja7708 then go clap them and teach them true martial arts, because you know better.
@@TheGreatGodPan You think being bigger, stronger and heavier ISN'T an advantage in BJJ? Dude, a big, strong, athletic blue belt can beat small, weak black belts pretty damn consistently.
😂😭😭 you guys just love to not be able to actually train hard but be the “master” this is absurd. Go train real boxing or any real martial art.
I also love how these guys always have huge belly’s too lol
Okay, now use a resisting and aggressive attacker.
He has, trust me.
More you resist the more injury you'll have, muscle tears etc
You seem pretty aggressive and agitated, why not give it a try
The first guy shown in the video was a prison guard at Riker's when the video was shot. When he met Mikhail for the first time, he asked if he could attack full force in any way he wanted. Mikhail said go ahead. The guy charged and Mikhail had him on his stomach on the floor tapping out in less than thirty seconds.
@@christophershaw9014 no he has not
Mikhail Ryabko ....This guy is blowing my mind. Bruce Lee crossed with the Buddha, absolutely amazing and effortless power.
Essa apresentação conseguiu mostrar ao Aikido como se faz encenação kkkkk td balela
Like Krav Maga, not all Systema schools are the same. Some are legit while others are jokes. The same goes for BJJ, Karate, TKD, Boxing, etc.
Why is every Systema Master overweighted?
Not all)))
Don't underestimate the advantages of your mass. :]
As a 6'1 300lb person, I can attest to how useful having mass is. It's like getting hit with a baseball vs a bowling ball if they're traveling at the same speed. Don't get me wrong, getting that extra mass into motion is harder, but it's also harder to stop that extra mass. It's also helpful for controlling recoil on a large rifle, or handling large or powerful tools.
Ask tyson fury.
Physics principle that F=MxA, the more mass that moves the more force is created, easier by a human that looks overweight but can surprisingly do more than you.
He’s wiggling his fists on the second guys to cage and the guy is wiggling like a noodle with him. What an act
Clueless
Nice knee braces lol
Che pena che mi fate
Anyone hitting someone on the sternum flush like that with the assistant standing in a neutral position will also have the same result. Also, the performer shouldn't have his thumb out lest he break it by accident. As someone else pointed out, the performer is way way out of shape. Athletic ability is just as important as technique.
his thumb is used as reference point for the beginners to find vital points , if u notice the beginners start with push to get te technique correct this guy can crack ....hard
Hey Aardvark, here's my understanding of it as of now :
Ryabko Systema is particularly focused on "internal" work, meaning (roughly speaking) the work of biomechanics + tensions within the body and how to move them, transfer them, etc. (Physical principles, tensions in your muscles not magic or "mysterious energy")
As for the posture it has many reasons/advantages/principles but basically the partners in the video stay relax (not tensionless*) to absorb the hit, sometimes go to the ground because they took too much or were in such position, etc...
There are videos of big gopniks hitting (boxing-style) practitioners at Ryabko's school in Moskow and they absorb them without doing a "big fuss". Here it looks exaggerated because the performer's punch are really heavy and this kind of punch goes *through* you, you can really feel something passing through and pushing you at the same time (once I felt the shape of my stomach). You have to experience it to understand (even from other than him, but his are particularly heavy, so I've heard). Systema is not something you can understand through videos or reading only, you have to experience/experiment it. It's a set of principles from which you can create your own form/style or add to an existing one.
For the hits in the solar plexus : the idea is that a lot of emotions/tensions build up there, so when you are relax, it's often a region that stays tense (although it doesn't have to). So they hit there (add tension) to help you chase those tensions/emotions. And it's harder to manage so it makes the training more interesting when everyone stays humble and relax as well.
* You don't crumble under the hit when you absorb it, you have the right amount of tension in your body, stay straight (like a natural chest-open neutral chin stance) you keep your center aligned vertically to the ground and go low (lower your center, keep it aligned with your head) or deflect, counter-attack, etc in the video the performer often sends them a strong push/hit for demonstration purposes so you don't really see his partners do a lot before being overwhelmed or they really "swing" like around 10:30 because there's a lot to manage. If the guy didn't swing around like that he would fall or hurt himself depending if he's being punched or pushed by the performer.
Remember this is a video about hitting with your fist according to the principles of Systema, the partner will stand still so that you can understand the principle of the subject of interest here, which is : first, striking, trajectory, biomechanics, human anatomy, destination, relaxation, breathing, etc... also the partner works on his absorption/breath work/foot work/emotional control/etc
As for the performer's athletic ability, I agree with you that it is of prime importance in combat, but it's irrelevant in the current study.
if you want to see these principles taught differently, search for "ballistic striking" on YT, you may find this content more "down to earth" if you have experience in fighting sports.
But aside from technicality, if you want to really know more about Systema I recommend you find a lesson near you and go test it... remember every school is different and always seek for the principle. Hope you find something of use for your system and don't end up in a school of "dancers" :)
Cheers mate
You can't talk about athletic ability in a relaxed and formless martial art
As if a fat guy can't know how to kick your ass. If he had 50% less body fat 5% less muscle he would look better, but he probably wouldn't hit as hard.
There are reasons to be skeptical, but his body composition is fine, really.
Bruce lee can learn from him 😆
Guarda che sto poveraccio se si riggira ti gonfia come una zampogna !
Poor guy who get punched
Why doesn't the opponent do anything?
He's not an opponent. This is demo focusing on technique
Lol
Looks fake…
Fake punches fake Master
Troll comment ...🤣 You dont know how systema work
Martial arts has and always originated out of Asia. Mostly china. It would eventually branch out to be taught to other countries and cultures. I dont ever want to hear some ignorant comment like its Russian Martial arts or Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Its martial arts and if you want to put an origin its Asian. UFC is not martial arts. They have no respect coming from the Asian culture.
Tuck your thumb in or you will break it. But that was worth watching actually.
It seems Ryabko is DELIBERATELY "flagging" his thumb, to show how little "output" is needed if Location & Application are correct. (See other vids where he punches, "properly".) HE KNOWS WHAT he's doing here & WHY. (Still some risk, true.)
