      Can someone do a video about in-camera RAW development with the GRⅢ? I use it all the time. So it would be interesting to see how others approach it. For me it’s a very important feature of the camera.

      I was about to leave the same comment haha. He's like a ninja compared to his Nikon setup.

      He could probably hand hold the 1 second shutter speed with the GR III as well.

      Actually, spoiler: Ricoh sent me one! We will be making videos with it soon! :)

      @@hendrixg The GR III definitely makes this easier with its stabilization. :)

      @@EYExplore niiice. I loved my III so much I found and purchased a mint II based on yours and Samuel's videos. There is a lot to love between both models. It's nice to see GR II content still and proves the longevity of Ricoh's product design philosophy.

    Is it just me or did you guys feel super anxious too when he just left the camera on the rather thin railing?

    Another really good video, thank you. Be good to have a video on the different shooting modes for people who have just got the camera, maybe one on the ND filter, and maybe one on the special or lesser known features like the highlight weighted metering, the different image control settings etc

    All good advice. I look for street bollards, rubbish bins and window sills to use as ad-hoc 'tripods'! I also sometimes put a mini table top tripod in my other jacket pocket, in case I want to stand the camera near the ground. Personally, I prefer the Av setting and manually set the ISO to 100. I don't worry too much about the length of the shutter speed as long as it's under 30s. Self timer set to 2 seconds is useful to avoid movement when pressing the shutter.

    • @EYExplore
      @EYExplore 3 роки тому

      This makes perfect sense. Sometimes when I'm just getting a quick shot like this, I also use Av exactly as you describe. I only use Manual when I know I'm going to be taking many shots of the same scene and want a very consistent exposure.

    Great video. I also carry with me often a small Manfroto Mini or table top Tripod as it doesent take much space. Just in case.🙂

      This is a great idea! I tend go shooting without even a bag, just the camera in my pocket, so I go extra light and then just improvise when needed. :)

    Thanks for the inspiring video! I like to take city scapes with my GRⅢ on night hikes in Hong Kong. One problem that I run into sometimes is visible banding in dark areas of the sky. I develop RAW in camera, and I think I found two remedies: 1. turn off vignetting correction, 2. select white balance to match the sky (to not waste precious bits in dark areas)

    • @EYExplore
      @EYExplore 3 роки тому +1

      Both very good tips! I never tried developing raw photos in camera, so I don't have any experience with banding like that. It does not happen so much when editing in Adobe Camera Raw unless I really push the shadow a crazy amount. :)

    And GR GRii & GRiii all have a flat left side to shoot in portrait without a tripod. Some times I jam that side against at wall or pole.

    Thank you for all the wonderful work you do. You look like you enjoy it. I was wondering if the GR can be be used by a person with limited right hand dexterity. In other words can the camera be controlled left handed, like maybe upside down. TYI JB

    This is the first time I've watched one of your video's and it was a very well thought out and informative video!
    I have thought about getting a used Ricoh GR to have with me at all times.
    My question would a used GRii still be a good camera for 2020 or should I look for a used GR iii?
    Best of luck in your photography journey.

    • @EYExplore
      @EYExplore 3 роки тому

      Thank you!! I think the GR II is still definitely relevant and a great deal in terms of costs. But if you can get a GR III, I would say it offers quite a bit more flexibility since it is much more capable in low-light situations! :)

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Quick question, do you use the self timer on GRII? If yes, do you know how to change the custom self timer setting?

    • @EYExplore
      @EYExplore 3 роки тому

      There is a 'custom self-timer' setting in the shooting menu. I'm pretty sure this is it. But I honestly rarely use the self-timer on my GR. It's very easy to push the shutter release without moving the camera, so I just go for a light touch. :)

    And altough GR II is far from «perfect», but man it is such a fun camera and I love mine and it gonna once die in my arms😅🤣

    What settings do you use for noise reduction? Thanks for your videos! I have been living in Japan and Okinawa, in and out, for about 5 years. Now in Korea. Love Japan! The best for photography! I went to the Ricoh/Pentax Store and Gallery in Ginza and purchased the leather case for my GR11.
