Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've uploaded this, and I have yet to add a part 2 for the Unity section! I know! Shame on me! I'll try and update you guys soon on how to properly bring your clothes over to Unity real easily, but for now there won't be a video until I actually find a proper and easy way to do it. Well technically there already is a way! I haven't tested it out myself yet, and I've been very busy with moving houses. So that's why I haven't made my own tutorial of it yet. BUT FOR NOW! Watch this lovely video here from XedTheDead! At the timestamp given, they give you a pretty easy method to add clothes to your model! All you do is drag the bones of your clothes onto the same listed bone of your hierarchy in Unity! The Video: ua-cam.com/video/_b65Ce5xR9Y/v-deo.html As for how you get your clothes to unity in the first place, once you're done with getting the clothes to fit in Blender like in my video, just simply delete all the stuff from your original avatar, leaving only the outfit you wanna add, and export the outfit as it's own FBX file! Then drag and drop your textures and your new FBX file into Unity! If you have issues, plz let me know and I'll gladly help! Once I get around to testing more methods myself, I'll eventually make a tutorial walking through the whole process! But for now, I'm very busy preparing to move and working on other commissions!
do you have a tutorial for this ive been looking EVERYWHERE to do this !!!!!!!!!!! i made the blendshapes i just dunno how to add it to my clothing toggle
I'm realizing now from watching my friends work on their avis, that I might be using a different version of blender than others. My friend's Blender looks different from mine, and his sculpt mode acts a lil different as well. If anyone else has problems with their blender, please let me know. I'll do some research!
I'm assuming you're talking about an avi you cloned on the quest version of the game. If you dont have the model owned by purchasing it, then I'm afraid you cant. However, I highly suggest searching for the model or other ones on sites like Jinxxy, or Gumroad, or even Booth. See if you can find it, buy it, and then do it yourself once you own the files~
You could technically yes, but I believe headswap would be a little different. If you get the CATS plugin, and go under the custom model creator, there should be an option to merge armature, and that might have better results for you. If you continue to struggle let me know and I can help you on discord
That would be something entirely different that you would have to set up in Unity. There are plenty of tutorials out there that could help you! I suggest watching Sippbox's tutorials! But for you to have it set up correctly, I do suggest keeping the hoodie as a separate mesh, and not joining all the meshes together, which is something CATS plugin tends to do. So be careful about that
Yeah I'm sadly not gonna do that because I'm also a creator of models myself, and I'd like to respect the original creators by not sharing models, even if modified. Normally if I'm at my desk, I'd be down to help you 1 on 1 and help recreate it if have to, but Im currently in the car for the next few days. When Im home, I can contact you again and see of you want any help with anything
Im having trouble, every time i the weight paint part suddenly the arms of clothes snap down and no longer align with the avatars arms. And the clothes will move with the body but the are no longer align with the body. I dont know what im doing wrong

Hi! So if you only have a unity package, you should hopefully be able to find the fbx file hidden somewhere within the folder for the model in unity. If you do manage to find the fbx file, right click it and find the file in an explorer/file window. Cant remember the exact wording as I'm currently on the road. Once you have the file explorer window up, you can copy and paste the fbx of the model somewhere else on your computer, and then attempt to open it through blender through the new folder location

As long as you search for "3D model" after what you want, you'll most likely find something. In terms of actual good places to look, my suggestions are Gumroad, Booth, or you can even use a site called vrcassets.com which is built specifically for finding vrchat related assets!!

Take ur time
to prevent the clipping at the shoulder when moving the arms you could use a blendshape on the model that shrinks the arms when the outfit is worn

Close your unity project, overwrite the old FBX with the new FBX in the project files (manually), and it auto updates.

you cannn do stuff like outfit swaps in unity I'm not sure if you can refit the outfit to the avatar but I do know that it is suuper unoptiomized
