I was 13 when they blew up. Getting to see the band's music videos or in interviews on TV was exciting. It was usually on MTV or The Box for me in Indiana or in magazines. I discovered Nirvana when most of the world did, in 1991 when Nevermind came out. The very first thing that hit me when hearing their music was Dave's heavy hitting drums then Kurt's heavy guitar and howling voice. After I heard the first few radio songs I purchased Nevermind and when I was done listening I was hooked. I went out to a couple local record shops and discovered they had a previous album Bleach. After hearing bleach I then picked up every bootleg, single and import I could find on cassette, vinyl and CD. I bought every album they released after Nevermind and bought stuff like the 24k CD's. Growing up as a teen in that era was amazing but the sad day in 1994 was a day I will never forget. Working on my very first car in my dad's garage blaring X103 when the music suddenly cut and the DJ came on saying there had been a body found in the green room of Kurt Cobain's home in Washington.
