Great reaction -- fun to watch you guys! This is my favorite Doobie Brothers song, and maybe my favorite 'southern rock' (or whatever genre this is) song EVER. Thanks!
This entire album is dynamite, although China Grove has been my "happy song" for years. No matter what my mood, China Grove comes on and I'm dancing in my seat.
Such a good song! Summer vibes/dancing vibes. That harmonica! Another classic is "China Grove". They are actually performing today (July 4) at one of the U.S. Independence Day celebrations. Thank you guys!
Bro's, their "Jesus Is Just Alright" "and "China Grove" are next for you!! You will love "Jesus Is Just Alright", my favorite right along side "Black Water". Two great lead singers. The songs above are bangers!!!
Clear as the driven snow is my favorite. Incredible guitar work and greatest buildup to a headbanger in my opinion. Saw them in Madison Square Garden in 1975 Been an avid fan ever since.
You two have got good musical instincts. I'm sixty nine, so I grew up on this music. I'm greatly enjoying the musical journey you're on, and by doing what you're doing, you're carrying all this great music on into the future. Keep going, guys!
The Doobie Brothers are an iconic American band. It was a real joy growing up on their music. Their harmonies are amazing . And they are still going strong and touring the U. S. You guys should go to one of their concerts. Their touring schedule is online. They will be performing in MANY different cities. If you guys haven’t been to an American concert yet, it’s about time you go.
It talks about the "Illinois Central & The Southern Central freight" both of which are now defunct railroad companies/lines. Just about every kid has watched trains go by and not wonder what's on board, where's it going and wouldn't it be fun to ride along. As kids, we'd climb in empty boxcars and play around. They were stopped on side rails but still dangerous for kids! But fun!
This and “Listen To the Music “ are great summer grooves by the Doobies. Also - It Keeps You Running when Michael McDonald became lead. He wrote lots of great hits for them- I think you know What A Fool Believes.
Loved your reactions. They were one of the best bands around in the 1970’s. Another band and song you might check out is Three Dog Night and their song “Mama Told Me (Not to Come). It has this vibe that still cranks it out today. It’s stellar and you will love it just as much as this one!! It’s a MUST!! This is from someone who was young during that time and it still is amazing today!! Trust me!!
For me you can't go wrong with The Doobie Brothers! I think that Doobie Brothers and Credence Clearwater Revival (CCR) both have what I call a Swampy rock sound. Each band has a "best of" list of 20+ songs!! Luv you guys! 💓
When the band started in 69, the Patrick Simmons riff starts and the bass player and three drummers get the drive going. It used to go on for thirty minutes a night and the words were just riffing by the lead singer Tom Johnston
Got it right boys! This song is such a fun loving fast-moving amazing beats song with a hidden important message. Absolutely love this banger. Thanks for your wonderful reaction
The Captain and Me is for me their greatest album. Superb from start to finish, Clear as the Driven Snow, China Grove and the title track, just three of the fantastic songs.
Yeah bros the Doobs are just so so good at feel good music. My parents would listen to them on long car trips when I was a kid back in the 70s. Saw them with my mom in the 90s. Just awesome! China Grove next!
Yes! Love this song, definitely my favorite of the Doobie Brothers. Pretty sure I've heard most of them. U know they had 2 different lead singers through their careers.
You absolutely must listen to the entire "Captain and Me" album. It will become a favorite. I bought this when it came out in 1973 and I still listen to it now!!! The other songs are just as fantastic as Long Train Runnin
This is the original singer of the Doobie brothers, his name is Tom Johnston and he left the band in 1975 for medical issues and than Michale McDonald joined the group.
During my years in Bangkok, Thailand in the early eighties I saw them live in one of the capital‘s huge cinemas. At the end people were standing on the seats.
Old school doobies… I think they’re doing a reunion tour bc in saw them last night on tv and they looked pretty tight. Pat Simmons has been with them from the beginning, plus Michael McDonald and Burt Commings.
Yeah! You guys were just a movin' and a groovin', weren't ya?! The Doobie Brothers are so good. They have lots to choose from like, "Takin' It To The Streets", "It Keeps you runnin'", "Listen To The Music",China Grove", "Minute By Minute" and "Jesus Is Just Alright". This was very entertaining guys, thanks!

Gamarjoba y'all! Back in those days there were tools called "doobies" that people used in order to create great music. One can almost imagine these brothers utilizing these tools. Love your groovy show! Madloba! Peace and love.
@@philpartynski3125 Yes, lovely song too, one of my favourite 'later' songs is a good one, for me in the style of their earlier work, it's South of the Border from Cycles album .

My fav. Doobie's song. NOTHING like the 70's! BEST era. GREAT times, GREAT music, GREAT memories! This still plays in my car...LOUD!
This entire album is dynamite, although China Grove has been my "happy song" for years. No matter what my mood, China Grove comes on and I'm dancing in my seat.
Listen to the Music is in a similar vein to this, so fun!
Thanks guys. You made me happy. Describe the beauty of this song perfectly.
Summer Song!
Such a good song! Summer vibes/dancing vibes. That harmonica! Another classic is "China Grove". They are actually performing today (July 4) at one of the U.S. Independence Day celebrations. Thank you guys!
So glad you finally reacted to the Doobie Brothers and this song in particular. I knew you would love it!
Bro's, their "Jesus Is Just Alright" "and "China Grove" are next for you!! You will love "Jesus Is Just Alright", my favorite right along side "Black Water". Two great lead singers. The songs above are bangers!!!
Agree!! Jesus is Just Alright is the song that introduced them to me & I’ve loved them ever since!!
Clear as the driven snow is my favorite. Incredible guitar work and greatest buildup to a headbanger in my opinion. Saw them in Madison Square Garden in 1975 Been an avid fan ever since.
You gotta go back in time fellas. Rock from the 60s and 70s was just KILLER.
You two have got good musical instincts. I'm sixty nine, so I grew up on this music. I'm greatly enjoying the musical journey you're on, and by doing what you're doing, you're carrying all this great music on into the future. Keep going, guys!

Love all the chair dancing! You guys are great. Can’t help but smile when watching your reactions. And love the Doobie Brothers. Keep groovin on!
My father used to play this album over and over. Never got tired of it.
Ironically, I went to see them in concert tonight. Great show. They were amazing after 50 years! 💕

THIS is what we listened to in high school! Love the Doobie Brothers! I have tickets to see them soon 😊
Real good music is always great music from generation to generation 💫
"Listen To The Music" is another great choice by the D Bros.
They were great live back in their day.

Soooo Many Classics By The Doobie Brothers That Are Well Worth Your Time Exploring..TRUTH!!
Hard to pick a favorite by the AMAZING band but it is probably mine. Keep up the great work you guys!
You can hear the train locomotive in the rhythm of this song.
Bobby LaKind on Congas- RIP.
When the band started in 69, the Patrick Simmons riff starts and the bass player and three drummers get the drive going. It used to go on for thirty minutes a night and the words were just riffing by the lead singer Tom Johnston
I was 13 when this played on the radio. It’s still a great song! 😁❤️

South City Midnight Lady
Love these guys ! Saw them once at an all day festival in 75’ with six other top bands and they were the best. They have “The Right Stuff”.
“Without You” is a Doobie Brothers fan favorite ♥️🔥🎤🎸
The Captain and Me is for me their greatest album. Superb from start to finish, Clear as the Driven Snow, China Grove and the title track, just three of the fantastic songs.
The Doobie Brothers will be performing tonight for the July 4th celebrations(televised on CNN.)

EXcellent reaction, Bros, now it’s on to another HUUUGE hit by the Doobie Bros called ‘China Grove.’ Be prepared for an eargasm.
well done getting to this one, doobies best song IMO. "Listen to the Music" is similar in feel to this one and one of their other big hits.
Hey Guys, watch the video. You can see the choo-choo train. Great video.
A very happy 4th of July (Independence Day!) from San Diego, California! Luv the DOOBS - music of my youth!

Fantastic album, their very best. Clear as the Driven Snow and China Grove, superb stuff.
It came out in the summer in nyc! We all danced to it on the beach in the 70s baby!!!

This is THE ULTIMATE Doobies song!
Agree🎶👌💖
Those subtle bongos are amazing...
Black Water is great, too😎
Hi Elizabeth, they've already reacted to Black Water, a few months ago.
My favorite memory of this tune is actually of a good bar band doing at Dr. Feelgoods in 1975 and everybody just having all sorts of good time...
The Kinks - I’m not like everybody else
Quicksilver Messenger Service - Fresh Air
Old school doobies…

After you check out some of the other amazing songs suggested here for the Doobies, also check out "What A Fool Believes"!
I've always felt that, sonically, the production value is unmatched. (and Ive been listening to it for >40 years now) ;-)
Yes such a party song everyone loved it dance the night away!

A gift from the USA.
Hopefully you guys will check out "Dependin' On You" and "It Keeps You Running" as well
Y'all react like music lovers react. I enjoy watching. Good dudes. Interesting analyses from vastly different perspectives.
Off of the best album of all time…”The Captain and Me”…11 hits. Try “ China Grove” and “ Clear as the Driven Snow” off the same album.
China Grove is even better!
2 Masterpieces:
Listen to the Music
What a Fool Believes.
Patiko and George are my musical Brothers. I never disagree with my Boys! Let's party together sometime my friends. I'm 60, so do it sooner than later.
Get "China Groove" and "It Keeps You Running"! Great stuff awaiting you guys!
You have to do China Grove off the same album.
China Grove and Listen to the music!! You will love them both! 🥰
China Grove, Listen to the Music, and then What a Fool Believes with Michael Mcdonald singing. You won't be disappointed.
The most interesting thing about this song, IMHO, is no where in the song are uttered the title's words, "Long Train Running"....highly unusual.
Next should be either "Listen To The Music" or "Jesus Is Just Alright." LOTS more to recommend after that, but IMO one of these should be next.
Loved your reactions, since them twice , so good live ,great musicians, check out their ALBUMS, you won't be disappointed
Try their "Listen to the Music" ! Appropriately named for you.
I second that.
John Fogerty Blue Boy is a Great Song .
