As a rez mage main I agree the resurrection tax is annoying how am I supposed to blind the team with magic and stab things before backflipping to my death when I blow all my mana saving the floortanks
I don't reckon res tax is real. Now if you're hard casting a res that's a loss obviously - but it's a TEAM game. You got to think of it less on personal performance and more on what bring back that additional player does for the group. Logs don't have an "assist" category a calculation for this but lets say if you were to look at your whole team as a Log. If the DPS increases from your action as a group you made the right decision. You have to ask yourself... "What does our raid performance as a whole look like at the 8 minute mark without me raising that samurai vs not raising that Samurai" Only real thing to look at is... Could I have brought him up at a different time or not. Like if you raise someone while shit is going off AoE's right away and he comes up and you die or he dies... that was a bad move. But the boss isn't going anywhere - in the perspective of one players DPS on the boss compared to the group... it is insignificant to group success. Even if you have a 99 parser with you... They can't solo the boss by themselves if they are the only ones doing anything.
The Res tax is real by default and confirmed by the Devs hence black mage absolutely pumps whilst summoner / red mage are slightly behind I don't think it's fair the same way I didn't think Phys range tax was.
Coming from wow, hearing someone complain about the aether currents when ive had to deal with pathfinder achievements is mind boggling to me. it could be so much worse, and so i relish in what it is Also totally agree that not adding a TLDR questline for onboarding sprouts to dawntrail was a missed opportunity. we just finished a decade long saga and it was the perfect place to add one. maybe even give out a special reward kinda like 1.0 if you did the MSQ while it was relavent to signify your participation in the arc. And while im on the tangential topic of 1.0, i still think they should do some echo-esque visions of the past so you can play through the main story beats of 1.0, because so much shit in ARR felt like i should have known the lore of 1.0 to really understand what was happening.
Your not wrong either there is alot of lore in 1.0 that would directly benefit people in 2.0 . And yeah I suffered path finder achievements aswell though I still find aether currents more tedious in there implementation
I felt this one in my soul. Literally had a Haukke Manor with two DRGs both lamenting the lack of AOE and then had a raid later where I was just rezzing on cooldown XD I really like the idea for the levelling though, I'd love to hear the Scions narrating the story, that could be really fun!
It's even better when you're on RDM and in a Dun Scaith run and every single person in the raid is creaming at you to raise the people who have died for the umpteenth time. I'd raise but level sync says no. RDMs and SMNs who raise in duties, we healers appreciate you more than you'd realize.
The only jobs that are locked by story progression are the Heavensward ones. You just need to have the expansion that came out in installed and be the level they unlock at. Most don't even make you touch the later zones. Specially Dnc and Gnb as those trainers can't get to the 1st.
basically all the dungeons etc etc are locked by msq. Whilst there not OFFICIALLY locked getting to the level requirements without the content from msq is still a drag, try unlocking gnb without msq progress
@@MythSamaelFFXIV it's kinda easy to get to 70 though. Especially on a server that has the road to X lv buff. Just doing the MSQ and roulettes can get you close to 60 before you even reach 2.55. Ad on any tribal dailies, food buffs, and if you have access to Wonderous Tales you'll fly through those levels in no time and being able to unlock the job in Gridania in no time.
That's why im maining Pictomancer. "Sorry I don't get to rez anyone!" Good thing is the devs are seriously considering just cutting rezzes on Mages for 8.0
the level sync system is what keeps the older content relevant and beating it (with min ilvl and no echo) both a challenge and rewarding to do. i think bc of the way new skills change the dmg output it would be very hard to match it with a stat squish, not even talking about utility skills. i hope that they will not change this, as it would tremendously cut down on content worth doing bc you can't just blast through it in op mode.
i get that but the actual amount of people doing min no echo runs is a dwarf compared to the larger community. Yes it coudnt be perfectly matched but the squish do shit well enough for old content and if u really wanna appeal to min il players then just make the min ilevel option level u down
@@MythSamaelFFXIV oh yeah if it was optional then i'd be all for it, giving options is always a good thing, so if it was squish with all abilities for non-mine, but if you select mine you get leveled down as it is now, that would be a nice addition. i know doing old content in mine is kind of a niche thing but it's really fun and gives you a lot more content and challenges to conquer than having only current stuff, especially in times where there is not a lot of new stuff available. and the fights are still very cool and fun despite being older.
As a long time RDM main, I assure you that I don't need to spend time raising the party for my DPS to suck, lol. I do that naturally. But yeah, I think it would be great too give us something for every res. Nothing huge. Just something cool. I don't know about other classes, but if you're rezzing someone as a RDM, More likely than not, it's going to come in clutch and save the fight, because the other healers were incapable of doing it for some reason.
Dispite Des's response reuploading is not transformative and he's not going to react properly. Like having bad English isn't a excuse not to react. If you can't don't reupload it.
Yeah honestly it's a shame the direction he's started to head in and it's frustrating cause he used to care now it's just views to him and the fact he thinks it's not stolen content because of his size and the fact he intends to upscale it If I downloaded a xenosys video and re uploaded it upscaled to 4k I'd be roasted so to excuse it with the trailer just feels wrong
@@ZaneLionhartffxiv yeah unironically you've been my go to for guides since I stopped watching des 😅 it's wild seeing u in my comment section I'm still getting used to youtube And oh well a big thanks to them I guess ! You can already limit duty finder to 10 levels below your current level. The drawback is that it will take more time to pop. But the option is there. And if you res your party andd they kick you for not doing enough gps. Frankly why would you want to continue to play with a bunch of aholes? Is their lost not yours. And if you are ressing so much they are not going to clear anyway.
God, the story complaint is real. One of the big things that stopped me from having any interest in continuing the game for the longest time was slogging through ARR because I could not care less about the Primal story line. Sadly Yoshi-P has stated in Jesse Cox's media tour interview they have no plans to change this because they believe the story's what made people fall in love with the game.
I can't help but feel it's a big mistake , the story is amazing and they are right but eventually the requirement for new players to be able to actually play there friends will be to much I mean Jesus 400 hours already is
Didn't cut the amount of quests done in arr done by quite alot? If you are a relatively new player, then you may have not experienced how long winded it used to be. Not defending their arr msq or anything, but the new streamlined version thats in place currently, I didn't find to be god awful or anything. Just my take I guess in knowing what it was.
@@LuminateTheWorld can't please everyone. I'm a big ARR lover for example. And while some changes in msq were very welcome and exciting to see. Others... I will forever be grumpy about. It's about the journey basically. The whole game. But not all people like the journey. Or appreciate the journey. And if you can't care less, buy msq skip and move on. This is an option.
@@steelclackers2611I despise and resent FF14's story because, as someone who's played every single FF game, most of the plot points of 14 have been done better, first, and more competently, by the older games.
