Lot of people in this comment section complaining that he threw those fish back...come on guys...you don't have to keep literally every good fish you catch...throw one back to appease the fish gods every once in a while....your grandkids will thank you
Man i came across this video looking up topwater bass fishing stuff but clicked on your video because of your name. I actually grew up fishing for Blues and Pompano on those exact shores. My dad lived in Mobile a lot of years and we would come down to Ft. Morgan to fish as much as we could. Stoked I found your page.
Man...years ago we stayed at a holiday Inn on Pensacola Bay right at the Base of Gulf Breeze. Don't know if it's still there. Anyway, I am out on the bay beach very early just looking around. A guy was fishing over in the corner sort of, and using what looked to be a rig no more than you'd fish for bass. He hooked something big and fought it for about 45 minutes. When the fish was in shallow he handed me the rod and waded in a bit to try and grab it and pull it the rest of the way in. Had to be a 45lb Jack Crevelle. He actually bled from grabbing it at the base of the tail. Biggest Jack I ever saw. BACK IT WENT INTO THE BAY! Sure enjoyed watching a masterful fish landing!
Would lov to do fishing for a living....sounds to good to b true... Sit on the beach roasted by the sun fishin by the hour.....lov it enjoy your videos
This passed Sunday in the lagoon near the new pier the spanish were in so thick the water seemed to be churning. Now is definitely a great time to catch them from the shore.
Se aqui no Brazil preservasse assim como vocês Americanos preservam. Seria maravilhosa a nossa pescaria na beira das praias. Parabéns pelos excelentes exemplares na pescaria. Se cuida. Bom dia. Alexandre. Brazil
A nother cool video, always good to see new ones even if there a bit older. I try to catch all I can, some I even watch over. There just that good. Thanks, Tom DB, FL.
Flouro is the way to go, but with toothy critters like Spanish especially, they can and will cut your leader. Always check for frayed leader after each catch; change out leader as appropriate. I've lost some good lures chasing after them. Blues can turn you blue too. Jack's not much of a problem. I used to catch snook in season with diamond jigs in the surf. I shirted them with flocked up polypro rope tied to hook shank at back of lure. Love the weight of diamond jig. Casts like a dream, even on windy days. Tarpon also will hit it , but look out you're lucky to land one!
Your top water action keeps me subscribed and watching! Thanks you my friend and you will receive one of my hand made top water surf lures. Next time I get a batch done lol I have some I'm working on for this fall so ..........???lol
Awesome man. Looks like so much fun! I think I'm going to break down and go buy a fishing license. Instead of only enjoying fishing when there is free weekends... anyways thanks for the video man.
also, what kind of surf fishing gear should I get to throw that far away enough like you did in the video> the rod, the reel and the mainline size/LBs?
For 2oz top water lures, what braid # is better, i have a st croix mojo surf 9` mmf and daiwa bg4000 , can i use a 20lb braid? bc i dont know if there can snap cast
Your videos convinced me to buy a Roosta Popper. I fish New Smyrna Beach, FL and this lure is a *shark magnet*! I usually get a massive strike about every 5 casts, which should be a warning about swimming here. My last catch was typical, a 5-1/2 foot blacktip. Stay bummy!
Are Jack Crevelle safe to eat in this area and if so are they any good? I know in some areas they can have cig. We don't have tons of reefs to my knowledge.
Love Jacks!! I once saw a big school of them in a river come up and literally boil the water going after baitfish. it was one of the most remarkable things i have ever seen.
Jacks are so much fun. I was fishing for the at the mouth of an inlet when a school of monsters came in. A few of the literally chased a bunch of mullet all the way onto the shore next. They went beyond full speed about 10 feet on to the shore trying to get away from the jacks. Then they flapped their way back to the water. It was straight outta National Geographic or sumn. And actually caught my pb outta that school. 26.4”
Try and get yourself a needlenose GT Ice-cream, its a top-water plug that can be used on a fast retrieve on calm to mild conditions and it makes a darting action left to right. We catch a lot of jack crevalles (we call 'em em Kingfish) on them here in South Africa and its probably available in the States now. Great vid btw
Wow that would have been dimner for me and the fam bro nice catch havent neen on the surf in a while doing a lot of jetty fishing but im gonna try to go this weekend though
With a really big Jack (25+ pounds), about all you can do is hang on and then see what color your knot, at the reel, is. LOL. Great vids. I gotta get back to GS soon.
Never caught a Spanish in the surf up here in NC. Caught some from the pier but hundreds trolling offshore. I love to catch them and eat them. We would catch a lot on hand lines with bungee cords tied to down riggers on the back of the boar. (Weren’t using the down riggers except as a point to tie on to.)
We were on that beach in August 2019 and no way you could get your feet wet, Jellies Everywhere! You could easily net crab for days too, but I have no idea if that is even legal there.

I can still remember the headache a big jack Crevelle gave me about 7 years ago, big fighters
great video ...was always wondering how come people don't use longer rods for coast angling? Is that like 7 feet rod?

If your going to use uni use a double loop uni. Just loop your line 2 times through the lure then tie the knot
Greetings from Ft. Lauderdale!
Good vid. Caught my best JC at this very spot. Love that place.
Awesome videos, keep it up!
Hitt’in the big boys with the rising sun!!!! Nice spec and Spanish.
A lovely popping fishing landbase...
Looks like fun thanks
also, what kind of surf fishing gear should I get to throw that far away enough like you did in the video>
the rod, the reel and the mainline size/LBs?
Use a 8ft popping rod and 4000-6000 reel,35-40 grams lure,20 lbs braid line and 30-40lbs mono line leader, good luck🎣🎣🎣
For 2oz top water lures, what braid # is better, i have a st croix mojo surf 9` mmf and daiwa bg4000 , can i use a 20lb braid? bc i dont know if there can snap cast
Wow the best mr.

Thank you for the shark report. I will keep that in mind when I go to New Smyrna. Over in Daytona beach, hope there aren't any here. Lord have mercy
What reel combo you using ???
Amazing 😱
Are Jack Crevelle safe to eat in this area and if so are they any good? I know in some areas they can have cig. We don't have tons of reefs to my knowledge.
My first ever Striper was on an Atoms Popper in the Chesapeake bay, talk about a memorable experience!
That great sir ,😎
Great video!
Good job bro !!!
I tried poppers last summer at Oak Island, NC. Didn't have any luck all week on them. However, I did have luck on the power bait shrimp.
Love Jacks!! I once saw a big school of them in a river come up and literally boil the water going after baitfish. it was one of the most remarkable things i have ever seen.

EPIC vid bro! 🤙🏼
I have a question. Which is better to use in surf fishing? Jerkbait or a Popper. I am beginner and I am planning to fish on a beach soon. :)
Trout would have went straight to the box.
Good eats!!!
It’d be cool to see the moments before the hook ups too great content
All floridian fishing. Living by example. #1 fishing capital in the world.
This the 4.5” popper? Or the 5.5”? Thankyou I wanna get the same one

1,5oz, the pink, the red head and the squid/clear colors work well

It's have been very efficient.

With a really big Jack (25+ pounds), about all you can do is hang on and then see what color your knot, at the reel, is. LOL. Great vids. I gotta get back to GS soon.

Hello, why don't you use swivels on your jigs or plugs? Wouldn't you get line twist? Fill me in, I'm new to saltwater fishing.
I’m goin to Florida the 11th of feb what you charge me for a day to show where and how .
