Matt...I .LOVED this video !!! True fisherman that you are, you stayed the "course" and kept casting and then, WHAMMMMMM... I live vicariously through your videos and found myself just grinning (out loud) when you fought that jack. EXCELLENT !!! More, more, more ...(please ?)

I was in gulf shores/ fort morgan last week and hooked up with my first jack ever from kayak. Crazy fight. Pulled me around for a while. Once he was done though he just laid down and let me pull him in by the tail. Never flopped or anything until I let him go. Made my trip. I was using a big lure that looked like a mullet. It was jointed and swam top water. Great catch man!

Once again, good memories abound on your channel. Back in the 70s, I hung a big Jack on the jetty with a seven foot, medium action rod and 1pound mono, You know what happened, I'll bet! The Jack screamed 150 yards in no time and ping, the line broke at the spool. Only the second cast and I had to head home! Great 45 seconds of power!

Caught one of these off the gulf shores pier a few years back weighed about 30lb. Hooked him on a 2/0 reel took me about 30 minutes and about 2 miles of running around the pier to get him in.

What a perfect video to show anyone and everyone why to get into the sport we love---
I applaud you brother; foremost on the morals you seem to piece in at the right time (that being your family/fishing conservation/no cussing) Secondly, what kind of good your actually doing in many peoples eyes throughout all of your videos. I appreciate your drive and being out there when the times right(That's blessings to the max for me as a full time landscaper.. haha) being said I just want to tell you how

Great catch. I’ve only caught them trolling off the NC coast. Want to tell you that I had to return my 12’ H2O Xpress rod because the cork on the handle started coming off after only using it 4 times. Don’t think I’m going to get another one. Nice rod but poorly manufactured.

I love catching jacks down here on the Texas coast. My best hardware for them is a "bass assassin" on 17 pound mono clear. I wade out to the second sandbar (waist deep) and cast around schools of mullet, let it sink about a foot off the bottom then shake the rod hard about five times, they hit and I start working the drag. Great times.

I catch flounder up here in Washington all the time. Just drop my bait down to the bottom (usually clam necks) and wait for a bite. Sometimes it attracts dogfish, then it gets fun.

You are 100 percent correct in the slow drag and take up the slack on the end of your drag.I used shark/skate belly cut into 6 inch pendants on a double bottom rig with 4 inch snelled hooks. They lasted all day and I never caught anything but flounder on that setup.I fished Virginia Eastern Shore down to the Outer Banks,NC.I loved flounder fillets stuffed with blue crab meat.

Jacks are so much fun to catch. Even 2 pounders will put up an amazing fight for something so small, never mind a big one. Cravelle’s are sinister looking on underwater cams. When you get to a couple hundred thousand subscribers you need to get a drone guy so we can see what you’re seeing in real time. 😜.
