Simpsons was a must buy for me. Simpsons, TMNT, X-Men, and then Mk, Street Fighter were all bucket list items I've wanted since the 90s. Yes, I know they aren't full size, but I'm happy having these.
I work for a retailer and they stupidly put these all on clearance when they arrived.. so.. I got the simpsons for $200 pac man for $100 x men for $200 mortal kombat for $100... I got the pinball machines all 3 of them for around $300 each. I haven't even opened them all. I figure I can resale the collection sometime for a couple grand
If you were going to go that route your spending enough money to get a full size mame cabinet custom made for your house. I'd advocate that it would be more cost effective to get a mega cab or something.
I’m out here in California and JUST picked it up for $250. Someone was selling it down the street from, brand new in the box. Just parked at home, going to take it in the house and build it right now. Can’t wait!!!
Amazing. We’ve played it as a family and the kids and their friends love it. It’s holding up nicely with 0 physical issues (so far) and it’s a quick play. The for left player is the least liked for me, but the kids don’t know better, just cause of the angle of the buttons, but not a deal breaker for a discounted price.

One of my favorite arcade games growing up, and I've been having a lot of fun with this cab so far. The bowling is surprisingly fun too. The control layout for Homer doesn't bother me, but I personally don't care for Marge with the buttons being directly below the joystick. Last time I asked you MichaelB about if I should buy The Simpsons I was on the fence . Best Buy actually price matched Walmart’s price and I had to buy it . Chalk it up to FOMO, but I’m loving the cabinet so far !
I absolutely love this arcade game. Mine did come with some things I had to fix right away. I still play it all the time. Kind of cool to be able to play bowling as well. Good video!
Nearly got this cabinet, but it only has 2 games on it. Mind you, I did just pick up the X-Men 4 player, which only has 3 games. LOL I guess it's down to what satisfies the itch. LOL Thanks for the review.
Picked it up on sale from Best Buy for $300. For that value, I’m satisfied with my purchase. I always wanted to own a cabinet. I remember looking on eBay when I was a teen for Turtles in Time, WrestleFest, and The Simpsons and wishing I could buy one. I’m not sure about the replay factor yet. The beat ‘em up Simpsons game in specific. I really love Simpsons Bowling though and it’s quick enough that I think I’ll be playing it a lot. No issues with the sound or controls, even though I’ve seen others with issues over them. I can play as Homer with no problem and the sound, while maybe lacking bass, is very loud. I’m not buying the game for the sound though. And both games run smooth so I’m very satisfied.

Good review. Huge Simpsons fan and love this game. However, between the control deck, only 2 games, and limited replay value for me, I can't see buying this one until it comes down in price. Nothing against people that buy it now, I almost pre-ordered it, but I couldn't stomach paying that much for limited games.
If it’s like the other 1up cabinets, you just want to finish the current lives and go back to the main menu first before flipping the switch in order to be sure your high score got saved. But it’s nit like mame or emulators where you heed to shutdown and wait before hitting the switch…you can hit ut anytime of course, but not sure if your score would necessarily get saved in midgame (I would not think so).
Honestly, scanlines suck if it's just plopping scanlines over the clear image. If you're going for a CRT look, you really need the whole thing. Bit of blurring, scanlines, that screen curve, maybe even a bit of a composite image filter (or even S-Video) to emulate the output cable not being crystal clear. Without all that added stuff, it just isn't a CRT emulation. It's just..scanlines. I'd love to see the CRT shader I'm using in RetroArch on one of these 1up cabinets. I think it'd look amazing.
I prefer the scanlines in emulators and CRTs are great, but I gotta say that (at least with the Arcade1up Defender Partycade), the scanlines look really authentic and make a world of difference in that cabinets games. It might not be a CRT but it is very close at about 1/100th of the weight.
I was going to get the Walmart preorder version, but didn’t want to wait 2 months, so I bit the bullet and ordered from 1up. Overall, I’m pleased with it. The criticism of player 2-3 is overblown. It’s a little awkward, but it works well for Homer. Bart is a little tougher to use with the layout, but doable. Your review was spot on as to who should get it. It was a must buy for me, as it came out my Sophomore year in high school. Many a token/quarter was inserted for this game.
Awesome intro music. Digging the double bass drum . Needs more cowbell though. Im out out of room in my game room so I built a simpsons cab with , T2, killer instinct , rave racer and a bunch of others. I did pick up a Tron Cab though
As always enjoy your review and style Michael B. I agree the cabinet looks great but between the control panel, price, and limited games I'm glad I cancelled my $529 Walmart preorder. This one is just not for me personally.
Really want to get one. Here in Australia the RRP is around $1,200 and the cheapest I've seen it is $1k. Just wish it was a bit cheaper but I'm thinking if I don't get one soon they might sell out as they've been out for a while.

Congrats for Pdubs buying this machine for you - for me this game is a pass. I loved playing it in the Arcades but the problems people have been having with the control lay out and only having 2 games isn't enough for me.
You didn’t mention that the track ball doesn’t act as a track ball but simply a button. You don’t need to pull it back like other track ball games out there. Simply a small nudge forward when the throw line is in the green is all it needs. You can’t aim or angle the bowling ball with the track pad. This was my biggest disappointment for the whole system.
I had to get this one, the look of it alone was worth it for my game room. Huge Simpsons fan and great memories playing this at the a beach arcades. I love the fake coin doors on this one, I’d love to have this on my others. I like the bowling but it is way to easy - I can get a strike with homer every single time with minimal adjustments, so I might make a rule in my house - no one can use him :)…… I have 6 of these and I am out of room, which is good with the cost going up, but if they release a Daytona, Blitz, or Cruisin I might have to figure something out.
As your Knights of the Round co-speed run champion with Kongs-R-US I gotta say beat ‘em ups on 12 game cabinets like big blue are great because you don’t play them as often as fighters… and it just makes more sense for me. Arcade1up machines with 1 or 2 titles are a harder sell anymore. Also 4 player cabs, I’d rather have a 2 player cabinet.
This looks like a fun unit. They are having BlackFriday $500 deals 2023. I think I'll really enjoy this. I have wanted to play this for YEARS, ever since the original came out in the arcades. It truly is my favorite "beat 'em up" video game. Do you know if they produced a home game version of THIS game for any of the home play systems over the years? (Not the bowling, just the other.) Thanks for your review. I really enjoyed it and appreciate it. 👍👍
That’s what I did. Kohls near me had a Black Friday sale and I got it for cheap. Less than 500 to be exact. It’s a pretty good buy for my collection. I have the tmnt cabinet, the simpsons one and the street fighter yoga flame edition

So much FOMO on this one. But I really want to hold off to see if there might be sales or clearances. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Otherwise I guess I’ll have to play it on the neogeo arcade stick.
I wouldn’t wait. They literally can’t do it. One major reason is the fact that the WWF can not be used. The World Wildlife Foundation won the lawsuit for the acronym. Not to mention the wrestler licenses themselves, with many of which are deceased. I was surprised that Retromania was actually able to include the Road Warriors in their game.
@@nSquared75 ya true, i forgot about the licenses of the dead, even if they updated it, with different wrestlers that would still be cool, im sure Hogan would be up for it lol another pay day

Michael B. Have no interest in this cabinet, but I love your reviews and wouldn't miss your take! I love The Simpsons Arcade game and if I had unlimited space, I would've gotten it just because. 4 Player cabinets are awesome, but I just don't have room for one with all the others I wanted. Thanks as always for your wonderfully crafted reviews! vgv
You didn’t cover online play. The way online works is a huge disappointment for me. No local multiplayer and you are locked into one character for a whole game session. Those were dealbreakers for me and others should know about these limitations.
By 'local multiplayer', are you referring to purchasing TWO cabinets and connecting them DIRECTLY together, rather than linking up over the 'internet'?
Initially I was hopeful this would pack a Konami punch. Almost a Konami legacy. Not enough here for me but big Simpsons fans it's a no brainer. That layout tho is brutal with player 2. Issues again it seems but kudos for the coin doors. They'll be factory lighted eventually.
I loved this game as a kit and never completed it in the arcades, always run out of money after first 2-3 levels. However the bowling game just seems pretty boring and i worry with this game being unlimited lives i would just complete it and be bored of it 1hr later and its not super replayable. I think they should have put graphics on the riser as it looks too plain, also 2 games is a little stingy for a cabinet in this price range (It didnt have to be a simpsons game, any other 4 player beatem up).
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I even powered on my custom MAME cabinet. It was fun to build, and a blast to 'show off' during house parties, etc.. Unfortunately I realized that I have maybe ONE party a year, and don't have nearly enough friends who want to come by on a regular basis to play old arcade games... I think, maybe if I had KIDS it would get more use, but I assume most kids would rather play PS5 anyway!
@@StreetPreacherr Yep, i am a massive computer enthusiast and even do it as a career (Software engineer) but i dont buy vintage games as they never live up to the memories / nostalgia (Spoilt by modern graphics / features). As we get older the opportunities to actually play retro games with friends get less and less so we have to be realistic.
Great review Michael. They did a great job on the look of the cabinet. I agree, I am loving the molded coin doors . I hope moving forward they become standard on all the cabs.
Why are they so expensive? I assume there must be fairly significant 'licensing' fees involved in using the original 'livery' and being allowed to sell/distribute systems running on 'original arcade ROMs'? Because other than that, $400 seems a bit steep for some particle board/plywood, a 'small' LCD display, and 4 sets of arcade control hardware? Do they at least use 'professional arcade' quality 'joysticks, buttons & switches?
I literally have zero clue why folks still support this stuff. The stupid ball should have been moved up. This is one of the easiest games to emulate and yet sound glitches galore. The product is beta as far as I can tell...
This guy's review arent worth watching!😁i like how he tries to make the cab's look good any possibly way. Another reviewer that might ties with Arcade1up & his job is to make them look good no matter what.
I Believe arcade 1up needs to make an acception and just increase cabinet size for all four player games. U cannot compromise button space like this. This is gonna cause that wrist problem that u could possibly permantly I sure by the way u bend ur wrest to reach the buttons. I’m passing on this. That button layout is horrible, not fun.
The only one of these that would actually be any good and they had to f*** it up right wonder why that keeps happening in my life Mean all you had to do was make the same thing that already existed right shouldn't have been hard how dumb are people

So much FOMO on this one. But I really want to hold off to see if there might be sales or clearances. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Otherwise I guess I’ll have to play it on the neogeo arcade stick.
ah the days of playing this in the arcade! good times! great video, i'm still waiting for wrestlefest to come to the home arcade
@@nSquared75 ya true, i forgot about the licenses of the dead, even if they updated it, with different wrestlers that would still be cool, im sure Hogan would be up for it lol another pay day
Does it have all the levels because the tmnt did not it had like half the levels
the thing i dont like that when they play online you have to put password on it how do people join
if they dont know any password for it that the thing it kind suck i hope new update they dont need password anymore because people dont see game if it have password for room

You didn’t cover online play. The way online works is a huge disappointment for me. No local multiplayer and you are locked into one character for a whole game session. Those were dealbreakers for me and others should know about these limitations.
He never seems to cover the online play…
By 'local multiplayer', are you referring to purchasing TWO cabinets and connecting them DIRECTLY together, rather than linking up over the 'internet'?
@@StreetPreacherrwhen you play online, each player has to have their own cabinet. For example, you cannot have 2 on one machine and two on another.
sorry about the dumb question but just want to be sure
by local multiplayer do u mean being able to have 2-4 people play on the same cabinet or no?
Great review Mike! Love my simpsons cab👍
What an amazing piece. Thanks for the detailed review. 🍩 🍩🍩
Great review as always.
they should have put homer picture next to the track ball and put the joy stick where he is that would probably save the button layout
Problem is with bowling games is you generally want to swipe directly forward.
I only wished they can make screen bigger...
i will replace the control panel with one without the track ball, for comfort.
How so? I’m looking to buy this but would love a modded panel with more games... just lmk brotha!
Wtf walmart shipped it supposedly on the 4th, and then delay. Dunno wtf is going on but im pissed.
Please do an arcade tour
Your a home wrecker game genie, you made me buy another cabinet. $399 at Walmart is too low to pass on. 😀
Return it and cop again they $199 now at most Walmart’s

When the intro is done.
Custom control panel, realign buttons, relocate ball
Would have been a no brained if they added sunset riders and metamorphic force. No need for additional licensing
How many intros do you need
On mine a little tiny bit of cracking on the simpsons arcade they could have done better job with the sound on the pcb it’s really shit
I can't find these anywhere. 👍
I have a full sized one from 1990 - open to realistic offers if anyone wants to buy it - it's in the UK, & you would need to collect it.
I'd of rather only had 1 game and had a better layout. That trackball is nasty
Great review Michael. They did a great job on the look of the cabinet. I agree, I am loving the molded coin doors . I hope moving forward they become standard on all the cabs.
Great review
This cabinet is $399.95 as of today at The Brick!
Thats me in 3rd place
D'oh
The problem with the cabinet is the controls and the sound quality
i really wish simpsons wrestling was on here
$499 at WalMart
Yeah in the US. We had it go on sale for $699 in Canada on Black Friday
I literally have zero clue why folks still support this stuff. The stupid ball should have been moved up. This is one of the easiest games to emulate and yet sound glitches galore. The product is beta as far as I can tell...
Too bad about the controls and the sound. For the cost this should have been flawless
🔥🔥🔥👍👍
demonetized :). But sure you new that would happen with the music and all.
It's on sale for $200, I still didn't buy it
This guy's review arent worth watching!😁i like how he tries to make the cab's look good any possibly way.
Great game, but one of the most boring artwork color schemes ever
The only one of these that would actually be any good and they had to f*** it up right wonder why that keeps happening in my life
Mean all you had to do was make the same thing that already existed right shouldn't have been hard how dumb are people
I’m gonna review this channel, it sucks
