I'd love to see you guys really build a Lada engine using all the go faster experiments that worked over the years, twin carbs etc and do a before and after comparison.
I don't think they know what there doing in this one lol You still need to use the normal oil pump to give the system pressure you just have it suck it out of a reserve tank. Use the power steering pump as a Scavenging Pump to suck all the oil out.
Their channel doesnt get a lot of love from gear heads in Russia. Theyre known for ruining A LOT of nice ladas. The green wagon was a shame, the purple pickup too...the orange one...many were nice examples, no rust etc. They all end up the same. I like the experiments, but ruining classic cars is a major downer for me
They should do it in a fwd car and power rhe the rear wheel with a forklift motor , connected to the a differential mounted in the back with super capacitors powering the motor, which is fed by the alternator
I want the full electric Lada. If you feed enough power *into* a large generator it will work as a powerful electic motor. Probably sub 10 second quarter miles in a Lada, possibly even 8s. It's not good for a street car due to the charge needed per full speed run, but it's been done successfully in a few drag cars.
Did you vent your oil tank? If not, the electric pump is pumping against pressure, which will slow the rpm of the pump and result in lower flow to the tank.
I would like to see them rebuild an engine with a different bore on each cylinder. Or maybe a different stroke with each rod. The sound would be interesting 🤔
I know of one person who did that in racing in the 70s. Balance is the problem. It might work a while and knock itself apart. Maybe 2 different stroke or bored but not 4.
How much power can you get out of a hot rod lada? Build a performance lada and test power output on a dyno. Push it to the extreme, high compression super charged nitro burning lada. That's what I wanna see.
This project would have been very, VERY, interesting to see what was happening in the oil pan with clear oil pan replacements. We would have been able to see from the start with a clear slender pan that it was foaming too much. :o
Well, if you want a crazy project- here is one. engine charge electric motor for propulsion, this to provide same rev all time so the rest can work with constistence. Water superheated by exhaust (system like on a boat but heating instead of cooling) and then to a turbo and gearbox and down to engine for better fueleconomy.
I would love to see the 6l lada engine, with the custome injector you made in the past and this dry sump system. all your best idea into a g54 monster . That would be awesome !!!

Usually you have a double oil pump with two inputs and two outputs. One circuit pumps the oil into the reservoir and the other circuit pumps it from the reservoir into the oil circuit. Filter and oil cooler can be integrated into one of the two circuits. That is why you check the oil level, e.g. in the MTU engine, when the engine is running and at operating temperature.
I love you guys. Even tho times are turbulent, and I have never even seen one of these Lada cars, I still love you guys ALOT. Your enginuity and work ethic is admirable guys. I would love to spend a day in your garage, I feel like I would learn a bunch of tips and tricks.
Now next stage would be oil sprayers at foot of each cylinder like Ford Cosworth engines have. They squirt oil up the rod and into the gudgeon pin area aiding cooling and prevents the gudgeon pin becoming a place of inhibiting power whilst cooling the piston more and less friction generated in the bore.
My suggestion for a video Customised cooling Remove standard themo & find solution to manual adjustment with all the cooling aspects, bonuses on fan on off & even fan speed adjust & flow adjust, run the engine on the lower 'nomal' line i.e running the whole engine at its 'coolest' recommended then see if this allows for the ability to run thinner grades of oil & better efficiency?
I don't think they know what there doing in this one lol You still need to use the normal oil pump to give the system pressure you just have it suck it out of a reserve tank. Use the power steering pump as a Scavenging Pump to suck all the oil out.
Oh gosh, it even has the hubcaps and old style tires on it, I know it must have something terminal but it's quite sad to see it go down the experiments aisle for a reason a true beater could be used...
Maybe if you mounted the power steering pump low, like down below the sump or level with it at least with 2 or 3 tubes from the sump draining into one then into the pump.
You guys should try wiring a supercharger to an AC compressor clutch, and wire 2 separate ECUs in the same circuit. One would be stock and the other one would be remapped for the supercharger. Instant 40+hp gain at the flip of a switch! Have a switch turn off the stock ECU, and another one to turn on the remap ECU and supercharger. That would be cool to see.
I think its about time they try turbo charging a lada, or doing a performance car with all the home made mods they have done over the years, lada home made 6cyl, lada twin carbies, wooden pistons, carbon fibre conrods, o ring rings, p/steer dry sump, magneto coils, 3 diff wheelie rear end for 1000mph, 8 rear shockers, home made wheels with spinners, perspex oil filter and rocker cover, high pressure washer p/steer pump, diesel injector pump conversion, etc etc. Lada Frankenstein haha come on do it!

This Lada looks like a 1958 model, but it's probably a late 90s model...lol Like it was said in the movie Lord of War, nobody lines up to buy Russia's cars...🤣🤣🤣 Even the earliest Ladas seem to still be using a throttle body fuel injection system rather than multi-port fuel injection or direct injection. I'm sure I'm wrong about the newest models, but I've never been to Russia, let alone work on anything of Russian production. Edit: I'm sorry, I'm not trying to make fun of the Russian people at all, Garage 54 is one of my favorite channels, but it doesn't seem like their automotive technology has come very far since the early 80s.
Yeah, cool science experiment. But those electric pumps will fail and then you’re kinda sol. That’s why they use mechanical pumps for DrySumps. The little ones will definitely give up as they start to starve under heavy stress. Loading and unloading the motor will make it worse in a race setting. I don’t want to hear but F1 does a electric (it’s a primer pump and their budget for that said pump is probably 100k! Lmao)
You need a different oil pressure gauge. This one is rated way too high. Get one that reads from 0 to 10 bars. Yours goes all the way to 35 bars and doesn't give you a fine enough reading.

I second this
Repeating the compression ratio increase experiment would be a great start
And dyno it

i would use ladas own oilpump and use the powersteeeing pump to feed oil into oil reservoir that feeds into the oilpump that is located in the engine
thats how oem dry sumps usually work, or they have two stock style pumps, one is pressure the other scavenging
