Most of the electrical work I do is diagnostic, I'm always working hot. The uninsulated tools, I also recommend safety glasses. Hot copper always seems to head straight for the eyeball.

Hi from Czech Republic, we have really strict standards, so 80% of electricians use insulated tools. my favorite brand is also knipex.

I use insulated screw drivers in my daily jobs.
Before I become an experienced electrician, I still need to treat every job as I work with a live circuit.
Milwaukee is brand name I trust so far.
    Thank you.

I just completed a hot cut AC panel change-out, not the first, but it was the first I completed hot. I climbed the roof of the house, wore insulated gloves and safety glasses, was not grounded since I was on the roof, and was careful not to touch the metal conduit pipe the wires went into, I cut the two hots live, one at a time and installed a new 2-wire connector for 2/0 and stripped and tightened with my uninsulated Klines, won’t say I wasn’t nervous but I did it and everything turned out fine. If you have good insulated gloves then you don’t absolutely need insulated tools--but with that said I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m currently looking at getting an insulated Klein tool set.

1st set of vde tools were the Knipex screwdrivers and I love them they fit great in my hand are Balanced nicely. They became my daily so they got pretty beat up. Recently got the Wera Kraftform vde set w replaceable blades that blow the knipex out the water and I baby the shit outofem. Have a pair of vde knipex installation strippers for a blue moon when I need to cut strip w power on. And I KNOWWW lol but it does/has happened. Buy VDE and be strategic about purchasing the tools you need for hot work and not. My 2 cents ⚡️🔥

Actually not entirely true in the UK. For general industrial, commercial and domestic work, certainly not. Generally people do use insulated tools but its not required. If you're working for a half way decent company, you will never do any live working outside of the minimum live testing.
For things like high voltage works, working for the power supply companies etc yes, you are required to use insulated tools in a lot of situations.

You don't need them if you know what you're doing and you know how to communicate with your customers. If your customer isn't on life support... then you can shut it off. Period.

Real safety starts when one learns how use a tester then a good multimeter first. These insulated tools are just an added layer as far as safety is concerned.

Water does conduct electricity smart-ass. Yes, I know, dissolved ions, distilled water is an insulator. Stop trying to act clever, everyone knows what he meant when he said "water", you just made yourself sound insecure

😂😂😂 lmfao Americans don't care about knipex I've met a lot of tradesmen and I've only seen 3 and only one was all decked out with knipex wera and rigid few other things I've never seen before. Stupid Americans only care about cheap Chinese crap that when it breaks they go out and buy another one just for it to break again
