Hey there people! Sorry for the reupload but a ton of the video got claimed. I hope you enjoy this video though. With the changes to the audio I have been working on this video for 46 days now in total. Apologies to those who had already commented on my previous upload of this video
I made this video precisely because of the people who would demean this hobby or the people enjoying it. The thumbnail was mainly meant to lure in those people and give them a different perspective than what they are used to
I fucking hate hustle culture. Its ironic because normal people with normal jobs are already over worked lol. No amount of hustle is going to help that.
I partly disagree. Some people, rightfully or not, are not even close to be in their deathbed yet and wish they could have been more helpful for a cause. But yeah nobody would ask to do overly extra hours to their jobs everyday, no matter what how useful to society this job is. Maybe they would say "I wish I would have spent doing more good deeds"
No, but you may regret missing out on the fruits that labor may bring. It's as ridiculous as saying no one wants money, they want the things money can buy. Sure, true, but it misses the point in favor of being pedantic.
@@calculator91 It wasn't for being pedantic. Because you may not see the fruits of your work. You may just be happy to have tried. I don't miss the point. It's that I disagree with it. I said "partly" because most people won't say "I wish customers complain more today and give me a burn out" But they might say "I wish I did more for the community" Which might include "I wish I work at my job more seriously"
I’m a Canadian veteran, served from 05-17. Video games enriched my childhood and brought many friends together for some fun parties. Remember Guitar Hero, we’d get a long weekend off and it would be beer and guitar hero while we bonded and laughed. If you worry about what others think about you well, you might want to consider stopping that.
@@captindo i can relate to the long weekends off Had a friend I would chill with and play games all day and all night throughtout the weekend, much to the dismay of his parents 😂
Not from canada but still thanks for your service! Guitar hero was so damn good i think theres no one person who say's that game is bad. It brought so many people together and helped a lot of people to get into music in the real world
There are several reasons why I want to pursue my career as a game developer: 1. One of the most fun and creative jobs out there 2. You are the one in charge, but still need to be open to suggestions which enhances social skills and empathy, and understanding 3. That one feeling when you realize that there are people that you've brought a smile to with your game, popular or not.
I love video games not just because they're fun, but because they can be a safe place to take on a challenge and grow to overcome it. If I fail a class, I'm out thousands of dollars, and I waste months of my life that no amount of money can ever get back. Not to mention I'm one of the many folks out there that absolutely despises the idea of failing. The curse of a formerly gifted child with a now-fried brain I guess. Games can be a *huge* challenge ( FROM Software FTW), but each time you fail, you learn a little more. You improve just that little bit. Until at some point, you pull it off. You beat the boss. And even better, you did it *your* way using a build that fits you. And when you meet that boss again in your second playthrough? You channel your inner Vergil and style all over that poor scrub with cold, ruthless efficiency. That right there is pure joy.
Exactly. I think let's play/stream culture takes some of this benefit of gaming away, since people are less likely to take the initiative, toughen up and beat a game themselves.
I don't think of games as a safe space because remaining in a safe space limits/stunts growth. I play games to relax and find a challenge I can't anywhere else. You can't use games as a crutch for finding challenges because at the end of the day, it's a virtual world with no true real rewards. Games can teach patience and critical thinking, but if you're not using that elsewhere, those skills are wasted. They're not being applied. Strike a balance.
@@kingepostle Yes, you tend to get actual, physical rewards out of doing things in the real world, but when I am working on something, any desire for growth, reward or challenge don't even enter the picture. My only concern is the job in front of me, and not completely assing it up. Anything past that is completely irrelevant.
Awesome video! I think a lot of folks are taking 'hustle culture' too far and are therefore demonizing gaming even though it brings joy to so many people. Alan Watts once said: "The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves." We should just take it easy and enjoy our games 😉
And don't forget there are people that are still kids that don't have responsibilities or worries that adults shove on to their kids they should experience the joys of being child they are trying to live in simple times even reading comic books can just be as unique as other entertainments mediums as you're not just reading the words in a comic but you also have characters that can express themselves in the given comic that they're in and it's visually stimulating to see them compared to a book where you have to imagine a scenario of those characters where is in a comic these characters are already drawn so that way it can captivate the readers
For anyone who says you won't get ahead in life by playing games... I feel this needs to be flipped on its head. The reason to get ahead in life is to have more time and money with which to play video games.
@@ItsHawxThat's because we live in a society that because increasingly obsessed with productivity. Its especially bad in the west, where we value individualism. It leads isolation, loneliness, and alienation from others and YOURSELF.
realistically yes, they are a waste of time. but we need our ways to waste time, it's how the human brain copes with the stress of life, we all need something we can just switch off our survival instincts and fuck around for a bit.
To designate something as a waste of time you need a goal first. What is the goal of your life? To be happy of course. If video games make you happy then they can't possibly be a waste of time.
Does it always have to be about coping? Society is sick, cruel and exploitative of humans and the natural world. There is a high rate mental health problems and depression going on. Society provides us with pills and medications to make us feel better and believe everything is fine even thought we know it isn't. It's just a way to numb ourselves and keep us distracted.
I'm really glad I got recommended this. I was exposed to a really nasty "hustle culture" video from a certain well-known UA-cam grifter yesterday that really pissed me off, so getting recommended a well-argued video about the exact opposite outlook was a nice well-needed pallette cleanser. Ultimately, we're on this Earth to waste time, distract ourselves, and live our own lives until we eventually die. That's what a human life is. Different people want different things out of their life and no one way to living is any more valid or invalid than another. To say that playing video games is any more of a "waste of your life" than indulging any other hobby or special interest is incredibly reductive, and I'm really glad to be recommended a good video that shares that viewpoint. Rock on!
As I get older, I find gaming to be almost 'therapeutic'. I never would have imagined that as a kid, but it's true. I go online 2-3 times a month and play with ole friends and 'catch up', almost like a phone call but with video games in the background and some drinks. I'll play old games for a hit of nostalgia. Even new games [FPS], the stories are so well done, that it's basically you do have a little bit of fun [game] to unlock the reward [story]. It's better than falling asleep on the couch watching a movie.
games are possibly the only escape i ever had from my home/school-life. even having moved out and having my own place, it's still a thing that helps me with my psychotic symptoms.
@@ItsHawx a variety of titles. some that come to mind are "super mario bros" "luigi's mansion" or, to go away from nintendo "half-life" and "stardew valley" any games you love playing as of late?
I recently played Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Godess. A hack and slash tower defense kinda game. Very fun with some exceptions. Monster Hunter as shown in the video is very near and dear to my heart. Ghostrunner 2 is AMAZING if you love the cyborg ninja fantasy. I wouldn't recommend the first game though. Ghostrunner 2 was my personal GOTY for 2023. Ghost of Tsushima's PC release impressed me yet again. Prodeus (indie boomer shooter) is really fun. Hi Fi Rush was lovely. I could go on but those were the ones that popped into my head immediately
@@ItsHawx i see you love combat and high energy games, if i am correct :) a game that i WANT to love is pizza tower - but it gives me unironic sensory overload. the same counts for DOOM 2016/DOOM Eternal. i WANT to love them, but i can't. i was pondering a few times if i want to try "monster hunter" - but alas, i was not willing/able to develop the "skillset" for these - and that's fine, i feel.
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are pretty high octane games yea Doom Eternal imo actually does suffer from too much stuff going on. They made it too old school game-y and that made it somewhat inferior Monster Hunter is somewhat hard to get into. It is a slow start, especially for newcomers, but once you do get into it you will be able to learn the skills needed if you so wish but yea there is no reason to force yourself
Video games have shaped my life in many positive ways. As a kid I loved Zelda and Final Fantasy. Those games inspired me to go for walks in the woods and I am an avid hiker to this day because of it. And with the RPGs watching my characters level up and see their stats go up inspired me to start working out more. Lifting weights is levelling up my strength stat. Going for a run is levelling up my Stamina, etc.
I will honestly always scoff at people who say videogames are empty waste of time. Thanks to games i learned English as fast as i did, some videogames genuinely changed my life for the better on many occasions, a gaming content creator taught me some important life lessons that helped me improve my life. By that same logic reading books is empty waste of time, yet it expands vocabulary. Watching TV is a empty waste of time but...oh wait, this one's actually true.
Someguy was reacting to a gamer and said "with those many hours you could have finshed collage 4times" and i sinply said relaxation time is different from working time you cant mix the 2
@@blacklight683 but you still would not have enough exprience to get an job. Lets be real, unless somebody gives you a chance college is a waste of time.
The first example you bring up: random bars, seemingly endless knowledge about an open field, you bring a good point. As a person who takes pride in playing a vast majority of video game genres, gaming is a constant experiment, testing the game’s mechanics and then pushing them to their limits. Ultimately learning a new muscle memory that you can speak and communicate with.
New player experiences matter. It's one of the reasons why bungie kept losing players and not gaining new ones. They had, and still have, no onboarding system for newcomers
Video games have been a close companion of mine, I get bored reading so I feel an interactive world is far more enjoyable, I have been to place I'd never imagine, encountered creatures never possible in this virtual world.. and such games have honestly helped me through some very bad times in my life, a form of coping and escape from the hardships that were occurring in my life. I will always continue to enjoy gaming and never stop, I love the hard work and dedication some developers put into their worlds and very much appreciate the effort. I grew up on games and they hold a special place in my heart and some of my family has given rude remarks on it while I have NEVER insulted or said anything terrible for them, people are judgmental and jealous of others enjoyment or offended by something that isn't common to them, but I don't care. I can look back and say I had fun
The complexity of video games for those unfamiliar with the medium explains (but doesn't justify) why gamers are often antagonised. I've been an avid gamer since childhood, and it has made me a very creative person. On top of that, after years of consistency and devotion, I managed to make myself a known individual in the fandom of a dead franchise, to the point I've already been told by a few people that I made a big, positive impact in their childhood, which felt very fulfilling; easily one of my biggest achievements in life.
fr! TV is incredibly boring to me honestly, its the same themes or tropes, some bad ass takes on a whole gang of thugs, the mary sue that can do anything, the hard ass combat veteran being pulled back in to some mission again, it's honestly the same shit and least video games are inventive and stray from the common formula with unique concepts
I love the unpredictability of well designed video games. The feeling of exploring an environment and uncovering secrets or solutions to puzzles. You can’t get that with any other entertainment medium.
When I saw this I immediately thought about Mike TV in the Johnny Depp version of Rhol Dal’s classic tale about a chocolate factory. “Candy is a waste of time.” The perfect illustration of exactly what he was writing about: Watching someone act in happiness and richness breeds envy and disdain if one not simply be curious and question- be willing to learn.
So games are pointless? What about drugs, what about beer, cigarettes? Going into clubs to hook up with a woman who god only knows with how many people she has slept with. Drawing? How about sitting on a couch watching football? Entertainment? Yea that's pointless too right? The people who said that games are pointless are the people who are doing way worse than playing games and try to make you feel inferior than them cause they know, they are the ones who are actually inferior.
I like games for teaching me skills and ways of thinking that I would have never learnt from people around me, schools or TV. Something as simple as planning ahead or solving issues at their root, or understanding your tools so you can use it for other things; schools and stuff usually only teach me how this tool can help me do this one thing.
@@happyguy0105 honestly same Games have taught me a LOT of patience and the value of planning things out and honestly socializing with people with differing backgrounds
Gaming is why I am a social person. Trial and error to find people I mesh with is a lot easier when I can just server hop. Those friendships have lasted so long, and even saved me at my lowest lows.
Out of all of these I genuinely doubt that anyone really enjoys monopoly. I think it is more about making your friends and family suffer which is the main enjoyement of monopoly
"YOU COULD USE THAT TIME TO IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS OR DO SOMETHING ACTUALLY MEANINGFULL" *proceeds to fill his gut with booze and go bowling/billiard/pool for the rest of the night*
my current game im obsessed with is persona 5 royal. first time playing a persona game and man it's been amazing. it is the first time in a while that a game has actually hooked me this hard. i think thats what i love about gaming. when i find a game that can actually pull me in like that to the point where i become a fan and seriously consider buying merch, hell even getting a tattoo. after i beat this one i wanna get persona 3 reload. i already bought strikers too so ill eventually play that one. but yeah main point is i love when games can just grab you in like a black hole and you're genuinely addicted and immersed and just cant wait to play it again.
The whole “game sense” idea is cool to me. Been gaming for 15 years or so and I have the game sense, I understand these things. But whenever I play with anybody who isn’t a veteran like me, they just can’t seem to get it. Constantly looking down at buttons, not getting things that are obvious to me, or being confused by how I’m able to do it so easily. I can’t explain why I’m able to or even a time when I didn’t have game sense. It all just seems to come naturally to me, unlike most people I know.
thanks for mentioning accessibility options in games. I'm legally blind but have enough usable vision to enjoy gaming, btw monster hunter is my jam... anyways, I have been doing minor work in that area for quite a while now. One of my favorite quotes I've found when discussing this topic is "one person's quality of life might be another's accessibility feature." What I mean by this is easily showcased by ironically enough, Monster Hunter World and Rise. In world and previous titles, it wasn't exactly super noticeable when your weapon sharpness decreased a level but in rise they advertised a "quality of life" feature where there is now a sound and a flash associated with the occurrence. For me, this is not a "quality of life" feature, but an "accessibility" feature because it's difficult for me to take my limited vision off of the monster to check my sharpness bar. This means I can just count the flashes/sounds to know when it's time to sharpen instead of risking being flattened because I looked up at the bar. On that note, I'm just going to leave this comment with the fact that I actually can't wait for wilds because the mount will solve so many navigation issues for me.
I found that a lot of media that covers the reasons why one would enjoy gaming usually glosses over that fact so I wanted to highlight it. Though since I knew it is a rather sensitive topic and I knew little about it I hesitated making it a larger part of the video Also HEEEEEEEEEEELL YEA BROTHER MONSTER HUNTER WILDS CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Flow state is a very real thing. I experience it the most playing Call of Duty multiplayer, during certain games everything just clicks. Aiming is on point, reading enemies are accurate, and I just slay everyone I come across. Also gives a huge rush during and afterwards. Very satisfying.
Its ok to play video games because sometimes you just want to escape from the bad world , and make you forget the bad things by doing something YOU like.
For me videogames was the introduction to computers, since a little kid I was determined to know how to make videogames, it led me to pursue a career in system engineering, learned coding, mathematics and other useful skills, like 3d modeling, video editing and digital art. Just put things into schedule and limit time of your hobbies.
If I enjoy it its not a waste of time, they hate it cause they are not part of it, see others having fun and get mad, people claiming this type of stuff just tells you how bored and unhappy they are.
At first I thought this was gonna be a video saying to us gamers "don't play videogames, they suck!" and was pleasantly surprised when you were defending us! Plus, so many, so many people play videogames. And the people who don't are so mean to us gamers, when they haven't even given it a chance. Thanks for this vid!
Video games and books: make me think in one fashion or another, and have contributed to my chronic lore brain and appreciation for world building and story telling, inspiring me to write and learn. TV and short form videos: make my brain melt and smooth out.
Love this video! For me I just enjoy games because it’s the most interesting thing outside of hanging out with others to do in my free time. Also I love the escapist quality as there is a lot of crap going on in my life and my brain doesn’t want to have to think about it at all times.
to me. gaming needs no justification to be accepted. the fact that people do demand such is what makes me lose respect for them. a render is considered art a movie is considered art a program is considered a legitimate product worthy of payment and work aswell as being an art an album is considered art. a stage play whether it be with puppets or actors is an art put all of them together and you get a video game. therefore a video game is not just an art, it is multiple artforms acting in unison. the fact people can't understand this should be enough to show just how worthless their lowly opinions are. they don't even offer any legitimate criteria for how to make it legitimate to them, making all their words nothing more than empty slander and wasted breath. what makes art soo valuable is because it is fundamental in what makes us human. as human beings we think about things we do not know, we dwell upon situations that would never occur and most importantly is how we derive psychological vigor and strength through those thoughts crystalized into objects. these objects known as art are fundamentally what link us to our fore fathers and what will bring our thoughts and lessons to our successors. those who wish to invalidate it's existence are fools
Games can also be a safe place to experiment with different ideas, to let yourself feel, to be a kind person and to be just a human, especially in a world where you have to do many sh*t you don't want for money. In real life, not only our hard works but also our kindness and generosity rarely paid off. But games, they're designed to let you win, even the brutally difficult ones. If you help an NPCs or choose good options, games reward you for that in some way in most of the time. For me, games are the safe places to be myself.
It's called a hobby. Some people enjoy gaming for many different reasons. Ive been gaming for 23 years. Then theres classic games like Chess and Texas Holdem. Theres alot of math in terms of having an advantage. Gaming keeps people out the streets. Gaming might help you calm down. Gaming works that muscle in your brain. That's why you elderly people playing cross word puzzles to keep there minds intact. If anybody thinks gaming is a waste of time its not for you.
How is playing video games a “waste of time”? So literally ANY hobby is a waste of time then… Something that you enjoy doing isn’t considered a waste of time. It’s quite the opposite. It’s in fact making use of time.
It probably is true most people who hate gaming probably just don't understand how they work or how there could be value for some reason. I think of all the videos of kids trying to get their moms to play Minecraft and they barely understand that they have to walk. It really is a language as you said. There are some things you just have to understand beforehand when playing a game and sometimes that isn't even enough when a game is more complicated or uses a completely new style of gameplay. You almost always have to put in an amount of effort to understand the way a game should flow in general, then maybe even how it should flow for you personally. It might also be that the enjoyment of games is up to your own given effort and some people don't want to put effort into something that is long and percieved as "fake". With something like a movie or book everyone understands they just have to watch the screen or read so there are very few people who don't understand the value of movies or books, but gaming is different. Tbh, i don't think games are only entertainment either they are just as valuable artistically as these other options, maybe even more so with the added interactivity.
I learned how to work with people who speak a different language, have different personalities and backgrounds on one of the most complicated games made by man Dota 2. This teaches Teamwork, a level of empathy and how to not get mad at people. Most people don't learn this lesson but its still there, its whats needed to succeed in such games.
I really feel the want to just break away from my family to live on my own. But in this economy it isn't really an option. On top of the social implications of such an act. Being able to play games where I dictate how the story goes lets me feel like I have control at least over this tiny part of my life.
Mom: Video games are a waste of time. Watch TV. Grandma: TV is a waste of time. Read a book. Great-great-grandma: Books are a waste of time!!! Work! Me: I already worked today. Can I PLEASE take a break?!
Honestly, most of my time playing was a way of escapism, even more now i need any of that only for using my time and wait for my summer goes to an end, i dont like to put much my mind to do big efforts from now (Several reasons) so most of my games that i play, Pokemon, Metroid, Sonic and else, i prove myself everything i could without falling into crap, it was my replace of TV and sometimes UA-cam, yet for this year and some past months, i dont play that much. Also they teach me many things, ive learned better by playing games instead of school sometimes, my Poor english is at least able to read properly sometimes and im not gonna make this long describing all the bible. I admit i just got into a tryhard stage for many years too, because i felt it was needed for me to have some chance of recognition and value, yet i got burned up and learned to put myself in my place and soon enjoying every piece of any game i play, even in the bad ones i can now just, find it fun without taking myself far because i still have that bad side of tryharding and spending an unhealthy amount of time on it, my surroundings doesnt helped me that much (Except a few friends that point it out) i can agree that, also games change my life and its a part of what i am, im proud of it at some point, but for now i dont wish to them to get also too much into it, its like holding your phone or being at your computer sitting all the days, it needs some awareness and self-control to not build a solid bubble, the most dangerous thing is getting comfortable for too long.
Why would anyone enjoy watching sports, or listening to music while lying down. Why would anyone enjoy playing a sport without any goal of making it big. Why would anyone do things that simple seems to have no overarching purpose for doing said thing. The answer is very simple my friend, it's fun. Not everything in life needs to have a purpose, and not everything about life has to be so serious either. We have one life, and we chose to enjoy it in the way we know how. Even though the things we do amount to nothing, for the time being, it fills us with a sense of enjoyment that can't really be gotten from anywhere else
People think that when you're an adult, you're supposed to just smoke weed, do drugs, sleep with a bunch of people, and go to bars and clubs in order to have fun. Being a homebody who plays video games is foreign to people for some reason.

Oh uh...Monster Hunter of course, Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess, Warhammer 40k (most of the games are meh but there are some gems there), if you have a PS3 then I can suggest the Resistance trilogy. That's about it off of the top of my head
@@melchiorsmokesit's not just about the escapism it's also giving us a chance to be free from The real world for a while when we have games that take place in a different world that is not like ours while having some things in common compared to a hyper realistic-looking game which just put you back in reality or as you play them it makes you feel like that you're watching a movie have you done a video about realism in video games because there are other videos they're either bored of the realism of the games or the gameplay of it's is not good or them saying that graphics don't matter and art should
One of the core reasons people enjoy gaming is that it's great for people who want to lose that naivete over time and as a result can make great judgments against the people who complain about video games being very hypocritical on what they enjoy, not to mention the fact that everything in the real world is already in shambles with people getting laid off 99% of the time regardless of what job you're working for. Personally I'm always in the middle when it comes to jobs and what people enjoy so no one would be ashamed for that. I'll even resort to do the same logic to them by questioning their spare time if they decided to play fire with fire, it'll result them that they're complaining having their brains fried because they have nothing to back up on what they're complaining about. I might become a detective one day when it comes from learning a lot I guess hehe.
That's exactly what I am thinking. Like how is the most interactive medium that currently exists a waste of time when there are so many reasons that games are genuinely better than most movies or the slop that airs on TV
as a disabled person video games is not only a way of experiencing new things and form of escapism but also it gave me a livelong friends that I love dearly to this day btw i feel really nostalgic today so a should hop on god of war 1
For people who are successful and have a life that is fulfilling and fun videogames are a waste of time because they have no need for escapism, but for the majority of people who aren't in control of their lives, are a wage slave, have a parasitic wife, have ungrateful kids, get bullied at school, or are so disabled that they can't get a job videogames are essential for keeping them sane. If you don't want gamers then make success easier to achieve by making the knowledge available for everyone and making gatekeeping illegal. Society isn't dying because of gamers, society is dying because it's so bad that average people rely on escapism to maintain their sanity while the 1% make success unattainable.
Here is the other side to everything you say about the rewards, the satisfaction, the engagement, it is designed to take your time and attention, not to mention in many ways, for a companies financial gain. As I grow older, I’ve come to appreciate and also dislike gaming, I really understand why people see it as a waste of time, because in some ways it is. Especially if you have ADHD, this is weapons grade dopamine and pulls you out of reality, healthy ways of getting dopamine. I only lived to play games for years, and it’s come full circle to show me how much of my life is tied to a digital identity and life that can be stripped away at a moments notice. I cannot stress the importance of the real world enough, or the attention and focus one puts into it in their young adult and teen life. So many people unwittingly sabotage their future selves by getting engrossed into games, social media, technology, with an unhealthy relationship to it. This is by design, we are in the attention economy, and most of us are on the losing side. Enjoy your games, the amazing stories and experiences you get to have, and the friends you make along the way, but please go outside, and think about tomorrow you, and the people around you. Not all adventure in life has to be digital, there is a large world outside with far more depth waiting, and having a healthy balance will do wonders for you.
I am 34 year's old going on 35 and monster Hunter world was the 1st monster hunter game i played. Reason i bring this up is despite not playing games that hard most of my life i actually beat most content with zero help. It is true in the iceborn expansion i needed way more help than the base game. But i still beat the main story in iceborn with no help. The only thing in iceborn that i needed help with was a couple of special assignments. Honestly alatreon and fatalis is the only two i need help with aside from rajang. But let me say i struggled to get to that point in the game. I beat fatalis in co-op at around 500 hour's. But to be fair i did more grinding and side content once i beat the main story.
I would always recommend not waiting until the very end to do the rest. The """side""" content is not really side content. Sure it is not mandatory but modt of the non jey quests hold hidden base upgrades behind them. Be it more farming slots, better food, new gear etc etc
I remember playing uncharted 3 for the first time and being the first naughy dog game besides crash and don't undurstand what to do in the first climbing part because didn't undurstand the rule of YELLOW, or in batman arkham origins which was also the first arkham that i played, in penguin ship there was a LOT of gun mens and i was like, if i show up there SOMEONE will definitly see me, thinking that there vision was like real people see and forggeting that was just a game, if you died could just start over, and i was like 12 at the time, good times
honestly, gaming has made Me a really good driver, a good shooter at the range, increased My reaction speed severely. I can't go and watch movies or any kind of series because that genuinely is a waste of time. (just sitting without improving anything)
I know many people who think video games are for kids, not adults, and that they're only about shooting stuff while sitting in an internet coffee. LOL. The same people can't wait for Fridays and holidays and spend a lot of money getting drunk in a pub, rinse and repeat. Keep gaming!
The last phrase was actually not even planned. The entire video was finished but I noticed some background noise in the original recording of the last section so I re-recorded it and the moment I was done I just threw that in there cuz after 44 days of work I could finally go back to playing games
I deal with my depression by playing games that I really enjoy. I feel like it's a waste of my time and I can't get it out of my head. I try to be social, but it ends up draining me and I become completely socially exhausted.

I fucking hate hustle culture. Its ironic because normal people with normal jobs are already over worked lol. No amount of hustle is going to help that.
No one who was lying on his deathbed ever said - "I wished I could have spent more time working"
Agreed!
Lmfao right?

If you worry about what others think about you well, you might want to consider stopping that.

There are several reasons why I want to pursue my career as a game developer:
1. One of the most fun and creative jobs out there
2. You are the one in charge, but still need to be open to suggestions which enhances social skills and empathy, and understanding
3. That one feeling when you realize that there are people that you've brought a smile to with your game, popular or not.
Make sure you find a company that actually respects their developers. Last year was a particularly dark year for developers. That or try indie
Fromsoftware FTW
Fromsoft makes some incredible games

Couldn't have said it better myself
A lot of Jobs could also be considered a waste of time because they do little for society but somebody is willing to pay you to do that job.
@computernerd8157
Honestly with today, society isn't even worth it.
If games didnt exist then I'd just be watching tv instead, or reading comics, like the nerds of the past. They did exist before video games you know.
Before I got into games I watched TV quite a lot so yea I can relate 😂
Without games, I'd be drawing and reading sci-fi/ fantasy more... the darker the themes, the better.
Or you and I would be an electronics geeks and eventually invent video games.

Video games saved my life during my childhood years.
Rock on!
Who was the youtuber.

Doom Eternal imo actually does suffer from too much stuff going on. They made it too old school game-y and that made it somewhat inferior

I can look back and say I had fun
"video games are a waste of time" implies anything fun you do is a waste of time.

Last time I checked doing something you enjoy is almost always a good use of time. We live life to enjoy it.
Growing up as an only child with my dad in the Navy so I dove into video games as it was the only constant in my life having to move every few years
When people ask this question I just say “Why would anyone like watching TV?” Essentially the same thing, gaming is just more interactive.
It also keeps the mind fresh unlike just blankly staring at the screen watching reality tv crap
The part where OP said "The people who said that games are pointless..." was apparently lost on you two above
I like games for teaching me skills and ways of thinking that I would have never learnt from people around me, schools or TV. Something as simple as planning ahead or solving issues at their root, or understanding your tools so you can use it for other things; schools and stuff usually only teach me how this tool can help me do this one thing.

This was a really well-made, well-thought-out video, I hope it gets the views it deserves.
Thank you! Took me 46 days and I think a week's worth of script rewrites!
thanks for mentioning accessibility options in games.
Though since I knew it is a rather sensitive topic and I knew little about it I hesitated making it a larger part of the video
Also HEEEEEEEEEEELL YEA BROTHER MONSTER HUNTER WILDS CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Also I love the escapist quality as there is a lot of crap going on in my life and my brain doesn’t want to have to think about it at all times.
to me. gaming needs no justification to be accepted.
the fact that people do demand such is what makes me lose respect for them.
a render is considered art
a movie is considered art
a program is considered a legitimate product worthy of payment and work aswell as being an art
an album is considered art.
a stage play whether it be with puppets or actors is an art
put all of them together and you get a video game.
therefore a video game is not just an art, it is multiple artforms acting in unison.
the fact people can't understand this should be enough to show just how worthless their lowly opinions are.
they don't even offer any legitimate criteria for how to make it legitimate to them, making all their words nothing more than empty slander and wasted breath.
what makes art soo valuable is because it is fundamental in what makes us human.
as human beings we think about things we do not know, we dwell upon situations that would never occur and most importantly is how we derive psychological vigor and strength through those thoughts crystalized into objects. these objects known as art are fundamentally what link us to our fore fathers and what will bring our thoughts and lessons to our successors.
those who wish to invalidate it's existence are fools
So literally ANY hobby is a waste of time then…
Something that you enjoy doing isn’t considered a waste of time. It’s quite the opposite. It’s in fact making use of time.
Couldn't agree more
It probably is true most people who hate gaming probably just don't understand how they work or how there could be value for some reason.

Also they teach me many things, ive learned better by playing games instead of school sometimes, my Poor english is at least able to read properly sometimes and im not gonna make this long describing all the bible.
I admit i just got into a tryhard stage for many years too, because i felt it was needed for me to have some chance of recognition and value, yet i got burned up and learned to put myself in my place and soon enjoying every piece of any game i play, even in the bad ones i can now just, find it fun without taking myself far because i still have that bad side of tryharding and spending an unhealthy amount of time on it, my surroundings doesnt helped me that much (Except a few friends that point it out)
i can agree that, also games change my life and its a part of what i am, im proud of it at some point, but for now i dont wish to them to get also too much into it, its like holding your phone or being at your computer sitting all the days, it needs some awareness and self-control to not build a solid bubble, the most dangerous thing is getting comfortable for too long.
@@melchiorsmokesit's not just about the escapism it's also giving us a chance to be free from The real world for a while when we have games that take place in a different world that is not like ours while having some things in common compared to a hyper realistic-looking game which just put you back in reality or as you play them it makes you feel like that you're watching a movie have you done a video about realism in video games because there are other videos they're either bored of the realism of the games or the gameplay of it's is not good or them saying that graphics don't matter and art should
@@JustinJulian-00 interesting paragraph but you're right graphics dont matter and games should be their own thing
Mom:gaming is waste of times
*me watching her why she keep buying cosmetic while the human only need food, air, water, clothes and shelter*
Boomers mad as fuck about funny button pressing
They get so needlessly angry about games
Like bruh you never heard of interactive entertainment?
@@ItsHawx "its a waste of time" how are videogames worse than tv or a movie?
That's exactly what I am thinking. Like how is the most interactive medium that currently exists a waste of time when there are so many reasons that games are genuinely better than most movies or the slop that airs on TV
@@ItsHawx because the kids like it and no one is allowed to be happy anymore
their negativity is honestly a mystery to me
MONSTER HUNTER MENTIONED 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣
MONSTER HUNTER WILDS BABY
WHAT THE FUCK IS A BAD GAME FRANCHISE 🗣💥
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!🔥🗣🔥🗣
as a disabled person video games is not only a way of experiencing new things and form of escapism but also it gave me a livelong friends that I love dearly to this day btw i feel really nostalgic today so a should hop on god of war 1
I just simply don't care what people think of what I do in my free time 😂
born too late to explore the world, born to early to explore the stars.
born just in time to explore the imagination of others.
If you only do things to get somewhere in life and not to have fun. You my friend are not living a life, simply a hollow existence.
Why do you say that?
Not all adventure in life has to be digital, there is a large world outside with far more depth waiting, and having a healthy balance will do wonders for you.
stinky youtube guidelines, i will claim again that this video was worth every day worked 🗣️✨
And once again I appreciate the kind words
@@ItsHawx Which is why I am glad I done them considering I got a lot of good gear.
I remember playing uncharted 3 for the first time and being the first naughy dog game besides crash and don't undurstand what to do in the first climbing part because didn't undurstand the rule of YELLOW, or in batman arkham origins which was also the first arkham that i played, in penguin ship there was a LOT of gun mens and i was like, if i show up there SOMEONE will definitly see me, thinking that there vision was like real people see and forggeting that was just a game, if you died could just start over, and i was like 12 at the time, good times
depends how you play games ... as long as you have good life balance and it wont become addiction that take over your life
games are great!
honestly, gaming has made Me a really good driver, a good shooter at the range, increased My reaction speed severely.
Holy shit very well made video
Thank you! Seems like 46 days of work paid off
The last phrase make my day
The last phrase was actually not even planned. The entire video was finished but I noticed some background noise in the original recording of the last section so I re-recorded it and the moment I was done I just threw that in there cuz after 44 days of work I could finally go back to playing games
We all return to dust, it doesn't matter what we are doing. I am not genetically gifted enough to be social anyway, not like I have an option.
This works for more things as well, not just gaming
This reminds me of people who watch sports, asking you why you watch people play games...
You can Watch a movie 3hrs Straight, but cant play games.Impeccable logic
I deal with my depression by playing games that I really enjoy. I feel like it's a waste of my time and I can't get it out of my head. I try to be social, but it ends up draining me and I become completely socially exhausted.
Same
Meanwhile me, an Age of Empires nerd that made an essay on Hannibal Barca in Primary school. Secundary didn't have enough connection with history. Walnut dishes in ancient empires essay doesn't hit the same spot.
Gaming is 180iq no scope.
People can say what ever they want about videogame but man you get alot of value from them. Imagine paying 70 buck to go to a restaurant movie theather for months even years.
"Playing tage is bad for you because your having fun"
He shits on the french and mentioned Monster Hunter in the first 7 minutes... This is going to be a really good video.
