Hey Tech Giant. Can you answer this tech question. At this video mark 2:24 your OLED has a white line flashing at the lower third of the screen periodically. I have the same issue happening with my PC connected. What is that? HDMI signal issue due to lower quality HDMI cable???
@The Tech Giant Hi, I have got one year old lg oled c2 and a few times noticed pop up message : The pixel cleaning is required to watch videos on a clear screen. Do you want start now or turn off tv with the remote control to execute later. Yes, no. I alway say yes, because my tv is on about 15 hours a day. This means I made manual pixel refreshing? Please help!
My LG OLED makes irritating noises and I can't use the "smart" features because it requires that I give up my personal data to a third party data broker. These are things that will cause me to avoid LG products in the future.
Just did the refresher for the first time in 2 years because youtube stuff is burned into my panel. I was amazed that it completely fixed it so i went to look up how it worked, found your video luckily to inform me not to overuse it.
Seeeee!! I would have been one of those people running this all the time thinking it making my OLED fresh. But ur anology of washing the car makes a ton of sense. Thank you for this. Glad I subscribed.
I have the 2022. LG OLED G2 77 inch. The TV popped up with a message to do the pixel cleaning for the first time since the TV is around 6 months old. I use mine around 3 to 4 hours a day maximum. I performed the pixel cleaning and it took 8 to 10 minutes and the Tv came back on. I’ll be sure to do this on a rare basis. This was a good video
You should be paid by LG. Just bought an OLED from them after being in a long doubt because I have read about burn in problems. But this video and you other about automatically and other user reviews give me the confidence to buy this.
Just bought the A1 65” and am very happy with it EXCEPT… the so-called “manual” is just awful. It took hours and hours of hunting on the net to find the info I needed. Then I found you! Your work is greatly appreciated…. And PLEASE tell LG to get on the ball with their manuals.
Just picked up an OLED T.V.. the Instruction book was rubbish. I've been scouring Y.T. to figure it out. thanks for this video, one more piece of the puzzle learned.
Just purchased an LG C3 77" OLED and loving it! Looked around on the internet for info on the pixel cleaning. Not much definitive advice from LG. But, then I saw your video, what you say makes sense. But, my question is, If the TV itself performs a pixel cleaning every 4 hours, why would it hurt for me to do it on a regular basis? It seems the auto tv cleaning every 4 hours would be way more excessive than me doing it periodically.
The auto one that runs after 4 hours, when the screen is in standby mode is only a refresher not a full clean. It's nowhere near as aggressive as a clean. Just wait to be prompted to run the full clean.
Had an LG C9 for three years, zero burn in and ive never used the manual pixel refresher. The process runs after every 4 hours of use, and then it does the manual refresher every 12 months automatically. Only use it if you start to notice some image retention.
Subscribed and 👍 liked. Wish i saw your video earlier. I owned lg C1 since March if 2022. As we speak I am doing manual refresh now. Thats my 2nd one during this year. I havent seen any issues. But now since I know better i wont do it again. Thank you very much for a great video.
@The Tech Giant I really love watching your reviews, very informative. I was hesitant about buying an OLED model, but after watching some of your reviews and bought the C1 65". Damn it is really amazing. I am really happy that I did not select the samsung QN85A over C1. Concerning the burn-in, to my understanding LG designed he pixel refresher to run automatically after 4 hours of accumulative usage.
My new LG G4 had bad vertical banding out of the box. One manual Pixel refresh fixed like 95% of the banding. It was night and day and kept me from returning it. LG wouldn't have this option available if using it was going to damage your screen, they would have hid it in the service menu. All it does is readjust the pixel voltage to make sure all the pixels are producing light more evenly.
@@ratpinscher Yes people out of ignorance spreaded this myth that it will cause damage to your TV, when there has been zero evidence proving this. Why people continue to Parrot this myth beyond me.
Wow this is actually really helpful, I just bought an lg oled and was thinking that we had to run this feature regularly, thankfully this video came in at the right time.
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam Pardon me pls. So should everyone leave the option to run pixel cleaning while tv is off? Doesn’t that affect lifespan too? Is there a way to completely turn pixel cleaning feature off?
@Arondev sorry if you dont get my question. The video says pixel cleaning happens when tv is off in default. Doesn’t that affect the tv lifespan too? ( As video says pixel cleaning will shorten lifespan of the tv )
@@JudgeFudge57 best tv I’ve had, especially for gaming purposes, 4K, 120fps, Dolby vision, still a fantastic tv and brings my Xbox series X to a new level
@@jamieburstow6236 Great to hear, mine will be use for the PS5, Series S and movies and tv shows only. I wouldn't expect it to run more than 15 - 20 hours a week so I think it could have a pretty satisfying lifespan for an oled.
@@BlackBullPistol Yeah true.. I had to run the oled refresh manually the same day I got my t.v because it had 2 very noticeable vertical banding lines on the left of the screen. I seriously had no hope that it would help but I ran it before I went to work came home and it was completely gone. I couldn't believe it... the panel is completely clean now so I really lucked out!
@@BlackBruceLeeTheGreatDekuTree Nice that it solved your problem cuzz it is supposed to fix issues like this that's why it was made in the first place :-)
I seriously wish I knew this, I was so worried from burn in because I use it for both a pc and TV that I ran the manual pixel refresher probably 5-10 times in the course of 3 months. I don't know why they don't put a description saying only run it if you see any image retention.
did you had image retention before ? after manual pixel refresh you saw any difference? i have vertical banding on my C1 , i did it once but i didnt saw any changes... its still the same :(
Have an older LG65C6P with severe image retention. LG Tech told me t run the manual pixel refresher 5 times. Problems with the panel and pixel retention became much worse after running it the 5 times.
I'm so glad I ran into this video. I bought an LG OLED a week ago and I've already run this "pixel cleaner" at least 5 times because of being paranoid.
@@waxmydolphin9894 I don't see any difference from what is was like when I bought it. I stopped running the cleaning though. In a month or so it'll be 2 years old.
Mann I just bought a 65 inch C1 and did this the very first day 🤦🏻♂️ I’m VERY thankful you posted this cause I would have definitely made this a regular thing I do thinking I’m helping rather than hindering it’s long term performance. A+ 👏 THANK YOU!
yeah, dont need to use it if you dont watch just one channel. I have been using LG C9 as a computer monitor all through C19 home office since 2019 :P And no burn in yet. I have activated "hide task bar" should be noted.
@@ThatPixelGuy Why not do it? For someone who hasn't done extensive searching online about this topic, the way it's worded in the TV is that you are recommended to run it regularly, which implies every few days.
Definitely an essential bit of viewing for an OLED owner, however all Manufacturers should put a warning and multiple prompts so owners know it’s not something that can be done constantly with no consequence.
I have LG CX OLED Tv for 3 years now best way is to keep OLED back light on at 50. Then run pixel refresher every 3 months to keep the burn in off the TV. I have 3300 hours on the tv. If your going to get oled tv just make sure you have dark room. My tv will last about 5 years my friend or long because ppl keep their OLED Light up to 70 or 80 will kill your tv faster.
So whats difference if the cleaning occurs every day after 4 hour of use compared to one time manually ? If someone watches tv for more than 8 hours a day it will clean 2 times/day isnt that more harmful in the long run too then ?
I ran this once on my TV however when i turned it off it did not last an hour. It seemed to take the same amount of time as the auto refresher, even making the clicking noise after about ten minutes to indicate it was finished. I had the TV on for more than 4 hours before i tried manually pixel cleaning too so i am just wondering if there is a safety feature on these TV's that only run the short pixel cleaner even if you try running the manual one, if it has been turned on for more than 4 hours?
Thank you for the informative videos...as this information is very helpful. I just got a 48" C1 that I am using as a PC monitor with my gaming PC. I've also hooked up my PS5 and Switch dock to the C1 as well... and I love it!!! Going from a LED to an OLED is like going back to my Samsung plasma, but in 4K. My daughter uses our 10 yr old 65" 1080p Samsung plasma for her PS5 (previously PS4), and we still have had no burn in issues despite thousands of hours of gaming.
Great video. However, it would have been nice if you went into more detail explaining what exactly pixel refresher does and how it correlates to shortening the life of your display. Also, how does it compare to those YT videos you run for 10+ hours that claim to fix burn in? Anyway, I just ran mine on my LG C3 42" I've had for about 6 months after i noticed burn-in from a video game that has some static images (high brightess white text). Thankfully it fixed the burn-in and looks good as new. I'll definitely be more careful with static images in games and hiding UI elements. Glad the pixel refresher did work and only took about 10 minutes to do so.
Thank you Paul I went ahead and subscribed and liked the video. The information you provided was descriptive and your doing a good job! I recently bought a 48 lg c1 and my god is it gorgeous!!
I agree...I just received my 48" C1 and hooked it up to my gaming PC, PS5, and Switch dock...and I love it!!! Both my daughters thought I was nuts to go with such a large screen however now that they've seen it hooked up and in use...they agree it is not overkill. btw - I use a very large harvest table as my desk so I have the space for a 48" monitor/TV.
Gonna leave this comment here because I think it answers a lot of the questions in the comments... There are 2 types of pixel refresh, which LG does not explain in their menu (and they don't provide a manual). Every time you turn your TV off with the remote and leave it in standby, if 4 hours of use have passed since the last refresh, it automatically does a soft refresh which takes a few minutes. The option in the menu is for a hard refresh which should be done manually after every 2000 hours of use and takes 10 to 60 minutes to run. But it doesn't explain that in the menu, it says to run it "regularly" which most people would translate as "often". It gets worse though. I turn my TV off with the button, not the remote, because I'm using the TV as a monitor for my PC, and then I power it off at the mains. So the auto refresh isn't running and every few days I got a pop-up asking me to allow the refresh to run now (which I skip because I want to use my computer) or to run it manually from the menu. So I've ran it from the menu about 5 times since buying the TV on Black Friday. There are no warnings that this is bad. Every few days, it is literally telling me to run the refresh from the menu and in there it says to run it regularly. LG need a good beating for this. Basically: turn your TV off with the remote and leave it on standby and the TV will automatically take care of the pixel refresh itself. Avoid using the menu option unless you notice a problem with the screen or if you believe you've used the TV for over 2000 hours since the last manual refresh. You won't destroy your TV by running it from the menu a few times. I've done it 5 times over a few months and my screen is still perfect. But I'm going to stop doing the manual refresh now and just let the auto refresh run when the TV is in standby.
Some people seem to turn their TV off at the mains after use, and I used to do this too until I checked the power being drawn by the TV, after switching off using the remote, and with an in-line power meter connected. After the auto-pixel cleaning has finished (draws around 30W during this op) the power drawn by the TV doesn't register on the meter, which can show a minimum of 0.1W. Effectively zero. I now have the TV on it's own socket and don't turn it off at all. My TV is a OLED 48 C2.
Great job, Thanks for your intel. OLED it was confusing, and it’s not the mistake of the factory, you just need to follow the instructions to use it properly.
2000 hours would mean I would need to run it at least twice a year. I have the TV on in the background while doing other things. Thank you for this information.
I’ve had my LG CX OLED since it came out in 2020 I believe it was and use it heavily for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and watching television and still haven’t had the 2000 hour reminder to run the manual pixel refresh. If I do get it soon after 3 years and I run it and get another 3 years or more of constant use out of it then that’s pretty good going. Likelihood is that I’d potentially be looking to upgrade around then or slightly before if there are any significant improvements or additional features added to newer OLED televisions that the consoles could take advantage of for gaming
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam Hey I have question as well. I just picked up the LG C1 77in a few weeks ago. Great TV! However for the longest time when playing Warzone on PS5 or Cold War I could never get the TV to output at 4K 120hz. It would do 4K 120 @ 1080p. Have the latest updates on TV, PS5, and both games. PS5 is set to performance preferred. 120hz turned on via console. I’ll add I’m also using the 2.1 HDMI that came with the PS5. Finally today I thought I’d turn off HDCP. Whenever I turned that off on the PS5 I can confirm both warzone and cold war now output at 4K 120fps. The only issue is UA-cam and other apps won’t launch because I had to turn that off. Have you ran into this?
That is weird. I had a few stuck pixels when I had my C7. The supposed LG professional on the phone told to use it five or six times in a row and that should help the pixels become unstuck. 🤔 I guess the supposed LG professionals do not know what they are saying. 😮 Thanks for the info! 👍
In such situations then you've got to do what you've got to do,and it is there to sort such issues out. But it's not really intended to be used needlessly on a regular basis.
Did this actually work? I have one stuck pixel that is red, but it's only noticeable when surrounded by dark color. I tried running the manual refresh twice, but it did nothing to resolve the stuck pixel, so it's been sitting there since I got my TV about 3 years ago.
I used it maybe once or twice already. I hope that is negligible if I don’t touch it again. To be fair, LG aren’t exactly transparent about this. There is no obvious indication that Pixel Refresh happens automatically. There is also zero warning on the TV itself regarding the manual use of the feature. I certainly would have had no idea were it not for running into this video.
I had my LG B9 Oled since 2019 when it first came out so 3 years now I know people say do not but I run my TV from 10 a.m when my daughter gets up till 12 - 2 a.m every day all day I still have no burn in or anything i also play PS5 and Xbox I also do the pixel refresher once a week sometimes once every two weeks while I’m sleeping it seems to be working out for me
But it's really not necessary to do that. I run my lg OLED constantly all day long with streaming, Xbox series X and PS5. Most nights I fall asleep watching TV and it runs for hours before I'll wake up and turn it off. I've had not a single issue and just let the TV do its thing and today is the first time it had to run the automatic refresh. In theory if we put our TV side by side there's a good chance mine will be a little bit brighter.
iv just got my first oleg (g3) im guessing this 10 min manual pixel cleaning thing that the tv does after every 4 hours of use cant be mistakenly turned off? it has 2 options in the menu, one of them is a one off refresh, then bellow that it has another option that says do often
Today a vertical white line appeared on my LG OLED set and I ran across this video in search of something that might help fix it. I’ll run the pixel refresh tonight but I don’t think it’s going to work for my problem.
I am currently in search of a new tv. Not really a tech or even more a TV guy . My wife loved how these oled looked in a shop. After a 1min search i found about the burn in danger. Tbh this is absolutely outrageous and shows the standars we currently have. 20 years ago that kind of product would be canceled . Spending 1k or more for something that almost certainly will have a damaged screen (cause what is actually is) is outrageous. When we transitioned to led and tfts etc we would get a burned pixel or hear about them. Me personally i only got a single burned pixed on a 2002 pc monitor. And since then i had like 15 tv and pc monitors. Also, what you pointed out makes it even more outrageous because if this function according to Sony must not be performed very often and LG or other brands perform it "automatically" means the product itself is designed to reduce it's life cycle forcing you to spend the same or even more money sooner than you expected. Instead of actually fixing the problem, they added a thing that might be not be working in favour of the customer. Thats ingenious ! ;D I am almost 40...and this is outrageous. lol
Some people just don’t know unfortunately and once you tell them they just go like « well i’ve been doing it from the start every week, no problem » it’s like saying « yeah been smoking for 10 years, doesn’t seem bad »
So we can set auto pixel cleaning every after 4 hour use and turn off the Tv that wont do damage, but its not recomended doing the other option right ?
Enjoy watching your videos I'm planning on getting a 65INCH LG OLED early next year £1500 budget hopefully prices come down, as I've just spent £3100 on a new PC and currently still using a2010 Panasonic viera 50inch plasma 60hz lol been using it a a complete pc monitor since after 2011 stopped using the Benq 24inch monitor. My old plasma looks great no burn in, can't wait to try an OLED 65inch 120hz
Just to share my experience with my lg oled tv. LG B7V. Bought it in 2018 and I was of course very happy with it. It does suffer from burn in quite badly lately and that is why I replaced it 2 months ago. I moved the old lg at another room and decided after so many years to run the pixel refresher in case it could improve the burn in situation. That was the worst thing I could do to my tv because right after the refresh the colours were deteriorated and there is a yellow tint all over the panel now and not only where the burn in was . Don’t know why they have this feature available if it destroys the panel right after you do it. So just a piece of advice : NEVER RUN PIXEL REFRESHER ON YOUR LG OLED TV
Just did pixel cleaning for first time on my c2 oled after 2 months of owning it. Whole pixel cleaning process took around 5min. You're right don't fix.it.if it ain't broke. Not gonna clean any pixels for at least a year😂
I wish that these terms were standardized for Oled tech itself, my AW3423DW has both pixel refresh and panel refresh, pixel refresh is different for the monitor than is panel refresh, whereas I look at the LG menu you show and pixel refresh seems to be the same as panel refresh. I'm just thinking about removing icons from my desktop and just using file explorer, I already have my desktop background as true black and downloaded a nifty utility to change the task bar and window panels to true black, so, that should help preserve the panel life already. Hell, I hardly use icons on my desktop as is, so, it's not like I'll miss anything.
Have done the manual cleaner a few times in a short period of time and noticed nothing bad.. I have some nasty image retention {only noticeable with red and some grey colors at full screen} that I want to get rid off. Got a bit better than before running the cleaning proces so i will do it again a few times. This 2016 B6 has served me well but I think it's time to say goodbye and buy the 77" B4
Bit confused. Isn't the pixel cleaning function automatically activates pixel cleaning on stand by once every 4 hours the tv was on? What's the difference from what you're talking about ?
I mostly listen only to the audio. Then why keep the TV screen ON always? I have a BT transmitter-receiver and a BT speaker. I connect the device to the Set Top Box and carry around the speaker. When I sit before the TV, only then I switch on the TV screen. This is more convenient that using the TV's built-in BT connection. Before I forget - FOLLOWING YOUR ADVICE, I POWER ON THE MAINS IN THE MORNING AND KEEP IT THAT WAY TILL BED TIME.
@@skbachoti you can also keep the TV on with the screen off. When I listen to podcasts on UA-cam and I don't care about the video, I just say "turn of the screen" to the LG assistant and it turns of the screen without turning of the TV.
im confused now after the 2 videos. sooo the automatic thing, wich takes 10 minutes in standby, wich my c2 does after 4 hours of use is ok to put it on? but dont run the manual 1hr thing all the time. correct?
Thank you so much for this info. I wish i knew this sooner... 😔😔 I got my C1 last week and i ran like 5 times already 😂😂. I contected the LG service and asked them if it will damage my panel after i ran so many times already ... The answer i got was no. ( I had to wait few hours til they gave me the answer from a product specialist. ) But they want thier customers to use their OLED TV as any other TV. The recommendation i got was of course not to run so many times bc it was not necessary and tv will run it self automatically when it's off. But i don't know why i still feel like i fucked up my new TV 😂
Would you share a quick video about the logo brightness function? Which one is the better choice, higher or lower?? I'm confused about which one performs the best compensation for static logos in the corner of the screen. Higher makes it sound like the logo will be brighter and thus cause more burn in. Or maybe higher means higher protection?
I have covered this in the past, but with many buying these TV's over Black Friday and the new ones having a different menu layout,i think i might post up a fresh video covering the subject.
@@CmdrKeene hey shawn, I did I lot of research into this before buying my LG g1. It's 100% the 'higher' option. As higher means more reduction in this case, so actually less light, therefore pixels run less hard so less burn in risk. Very confusing but hope this helps. 100% put the option as Higher. I've been using it and haven't even noticed a visual difference between having it on 'higher' and not having it on which is a great sign, cause it means you won't notice any difference so it'll be just like normal, except your tv will last longer
Great video, how do i stop the TV needs to perform a screen restoration prompt from coming up on the screen everytime I turn the TV on? It's driving me mad 🤔
Where can I find the setting to give our LG C1 OLED? And it's a little too late re the Pixel Cleaner. Why would LG even have a setting like this if it may ruin the set?
Yesterday I bought an Lg B2 65” and I watched a movie. Today I browse the tv regulations and I make a manual pixel refresh and then I saw that video so I cancelled it at half an hour more or less. Did I made a terrible mistake ? Did I degrade my Oled’s panel? I am really anxious now
Hello tech giant my lg oled always goes into this panel noise clearing thing everytime i turn it off and it doesnt even finish after many hours and it still wants to do this after many hours when turn tv on and off again. I even did a tv reboot and unplugged it and it still doesnt stop this tv from trying to do this pixel refresher/panel noise clearing. One thing is for sure after many hours i left this tv off and it did this the picture is like super clear and sharp.
Two months ago I bought my LG C3 OLED and I couldn't be happier with it, the quality is spectacular. However, as with any large purchase, one researches the care that must be taken, and that was when I read about the famous burn in, I had read that it was necessary to clean the pixels of the panel regularly to prevent possible burning, well, even the LG itself recommends that you do so. So...in a moment of paranoia I started cleaning the pixels manually at least once a week or two, My question is if at this point, after having cleaned the pixels manually at least 4 or 5 times in these two months, I could have caused damage to the television, the truth is that it is as if nothing had happened and it continues to look just as good as the first day, but I am afraid to know that because I have done that pixel cleaning I am no longer seeing the image as I should.
I have a 2022 LG G2 and have more than 2000+ hours...and while I did not receive a notice to run the manual clean up of the pixels, I thought it might be a good idea. The tv says it would take about an hour (just like you said)...and that it would turn off the tv and then turn it on after the cleaning was completed. However, it never did!! So I tried it again...and it did not turn on once again. So I tried it again...Based upon your video I may have damaged my tv...? Should I contact LG to tell them that they may have created a problem for me in the future? Your thoughts are appreciated. Good informational video - thanks for posting and once again for your thoughts.
i don't get it. after 4 hours tv does it automatically after turning it off and you say "it doesnt affect it". but doing it manually it may affect it? btw why on the "quick check" option it says "run pixel cleaning regularly"? it's really confusing.
Just bought a second hand 55c6v , I did run pixel refresh once as soon as I got 🙈 and maybe the problem was already there, but I have a static image , staying which is only visible in certain colours like red and yellow , Ive read all this info so not going to pixel refresh again and just hope it goes away or I forget about it
Thanks for the tips, however I don't understand why it is bad to do this manually. Doesn't the automatic pixel cleaning gets enabled every 4 hours of watching either way by default???
i'm not 100% sure about it but i think the manual one is way more aggressive since it takes about 1 hour and the automatic one well i don't know about that one
I’ve run the pixcel cleaning 2 times since I got the TV. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks. Have I ruined my TV? I’ve stoppid using it after reading that it’s not recommended. But, should I be worried after running pixcel cleaning twice?
I read an article that said that people pulling the plug when not in use could damage the screen. When you turn off the TV and leave it plugged in the TV automatically runs the pixel refresh function. If you turn the TV on in the middle of it the next time you turn it off it resumes where it left off. Now this may be for Samsung TVs I'm sure if it was brand oriented or just for all OLED TV. Maybe you can clarify this. I hope this helps. Thanks!
The reason they ask you not to run the manual refresh is because they are already doing auto refresh so it "overcleans" it to the point of causing damage. The manual option is there in case problems come up with the screen.
Hi , would you explain why is there a time lapse between powering LG C1 by remote and the tick sound heard from the TV. Is there any automatic pixel cleaning during that period.
Or also what about when TV is asking for it... I cancelled it a few times so can I run it manually because the TV is asking for it every time I started? Plus why is it not set doing it after turn off instead after startup... then user is forced to wait for it instead of that doing it's job after they don't need it

Had a grey mark across the screen in a blob and used the Pixel Cleaning and it did the job, cheers 👍🏻
Just bought the A1 65” and am very happy with it EXCEPT… the so-called “manual” is just awful. It took hours and hours of hunting on the net to find the info I needed. Then I found you! Your work is greatly appreciated…. And PLEASE tell LG to get on the ball with their manuals.
going to buy A1 55 soon.
any issues with gaming if you play ps5?
Manual for a TV 👀 really?
As an Oled babysitter, I had to subscribe to this channel to get over this TV before I develop BP problem.
Had an LG C9 for three years, zero burn in and ive never used the manual pixel refresher. The process runs after every 4 hours of use, and then it does the manual refresher every 12 months automatically. Only use it if you start to notice some image retention.
Manual refresher automatically??. If it is manual it isn´t automatic.
@The Tech Giant
I really love watching your reviews, very informative.
Great to hear you enjoy the content and it also helped you find a TV that you are happy with.
And yes you are correct about the pixel refresher
My new LG G4 had bad vertical banding out of the box. One manual Pixel refresh fixed like 95% of the banding. It was night and day and kept me from returning it.
LG wouldn't have this option available if using it was going to damage your screen, they would have hid it in the service menu. All it does is readjust the pixel voltage to make sure all the pixels are producing light more evenly.
My new C3 had several vertical bands out of the box. One pixel cleaning fixed them all.

My tv had vertical lines right out of the box. Ran the pixle refresher and it fixed it. Saved me from shipping it back.

For someone who hasn't done extensive searching online about this topic, the way it's worded in the TV is that you are recommended to run it regularly, which implies every few days.
Excellent video and high importance of why pixel cleaning should be done when only required as programmed by the panel.
Definitely an essential bit of viewing for an OLED owner, however all Manufacturers should put a warning and multiple prompts so owners know it’s not something that can be done constantly with no consequence.
I totally agree with you on this. I didn't see any warning message about frequency of pixel cleaning. I was glad to see this video, now I know.
I just bought a Lg c3 2 days ago..last night I ran pixel refresh thinking it’s something I should do… wooops. Now I’m scared I’ve wrecked it
I have LG CX OLED Tv for 3 years now best way is to keep OLED back light on at 50.

Just got my C1 yesterday and watched your videos about the C1. Very helpful man thank you for this.
Same here! I am using the OLED as PC monitor too and what should I say... It is absolutely overwhelming playing Cyberpunk or watching movies!!!!
Just got my LG C1 48 inch tv today, thanks for this very useful tip. Greetings from Holland....
Thanks you very much for the like and sub.
Enjoy the new TV 🙂
Great content mate.Thank you for confirming that it takes 1 hour to complete I was wondering after 15mins as to why my LG tv wasn't coming back on.
No problem 👍
I’ve had my LG CX OLED since it came out in 2020 I believe it was and use it heavily for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and watching television and still haven’t had the 2000 hour reminder to run the manual pixel refresh. If I do get it soon after 3 years and I run it and get another 3 years or more of constant use out of it then that’s pretty good going. Likelihood is that I’d potentially be looking to upgrade around then or slightly before if there are any significant improvements or additional features added to newer OLED televisions that the consoles could take advantage of for gaming
Thank you so much for this video, I have a relatively new LG G1 and was about to do a manual cleaning,
Again many thanks,

Good info. Thank you. You'd think LG would put a warning on the TV screen.

@@TheTechGiantUA-cam True. Thanks again man. 👍
Indeed, i used it once after a week
I had my LG B9 Oled since 2019 when it first came out so 3 years now I know people say do not but I run my TV from 10 a.m when my daughter gets up till 12 - 2 a.m every day all day I still have no burn in or anything i also play PS5 and Xbox I also do the pixel refresher once a week sometimes once every two weeks while I’m sleeping it seems to be working out for me
I'm grabbing that 83 inch. I was really nervous about the burn in. After a few days of research - I'm good to go.
And you dont have a difference in the brightness
But it's really not necessary to do that. I run my lg OLED constantly all day long with streaming, Xbox series X and PS5. Most nights I fall asleep watching TV and it runs for hours before I'll wake up and turn it off. I've had not a single issue and just let the TV do its thing and today is the first time it had to run the automatic refresh. In theory if we put our TV side by side there's a good chance mine will be a little bit brighter.
Jesus they made shit ford tough back then ahaha

Always a pleasure passing in such information to you guys 🙂
I am currently in search of a new tv. Not really a tech or even more a TV guy . My wife loved how these oled looked in a shop. After a 1min search i found about the burn in danger.
Tbh this is absolutely outrageous and shows the standars we currently have.
20 years ago that kind of product would be canceled . Spending 1k or more for something that almost certainly will have a damaged screen (cause what is actually is)
is outrageous. When we transitioned to led and tfts etc we would get a burned pixel or hear about them. Me personally i only got a single burned pixed on a 2002 pc monitor. And since then
i had like 15 tv and pc monitors.
Also, what you pointed out makes it even more outrageous because if this function according to Sony must not be performed very often and LG or other brands perform it "automatically"
means the product itself is designed to reduce it's life cycle forcing you to spend the same or even more money sooner than you expected.
Instead of actually fixing the problem, they added a thing that might be not be working in favour of the customer. Thats ingenious ! ;D
I am almost 40...and this is outrageous.
Exactly , im so confused! Should i deactivate the auto pixel cleaning that the TV does everytime i turn it off?
Once again. Thanks Paul for your helpful advice. Glad that i have watched this Video.

I was pressing this option, luckily I saw your video.. I did pixel cleaning 6 to 7 times to worry that I have damaged the panel?
Just did pixel cleaning for first time on my c2 oled after 2 months of owning it. Whole pixel cleaning process took around 5min. You're right don't fix.it.if it ain't broke. Not gonna clean any pixels for at least a year😂
No that’s the one it does very frequently and that’s normal, he’s talking about the 1 hour long extensive one
it is different type pixels cleaning, manual one is dangerous.
Thanks so much I just bought the lg c1 65” so glad I watched this first
No worries mate.
Hope you are enjoying the new TV.
Damn ive probably run that like 15 times by now….definitely turning it off and not touching it till next year. Hopefully my tv doesn’t fail soon

OLED owners should unlearn the old habit of keeping the TV running all the day with no one watching anything in particular.
Even non oled owners, it saves them alot of power.

@@CmdrKeene hey shawn, I did I lot of research into this before buying my LG g1. It's 100% the 'higher' option. Where can I find the setting to give our LG C1 OLED? And it's a little too late re the Pixel Cleaner. Why would LG even have a setting like this if it may ruin the set?
It's just like many things, OK if used in moderation, but you can have too much of a good thing.
I wonder, why LG did not put this information to the manual?
So...in a moment of paranoia I started cleaning the pixels manually at least once a week or two,
My question is if at this point, after having cleaned the pixels manually at least 4 or 5 times in these two months, I could have caused damage to the television, the truth is that it is as if nothing had happened and it continues to look just as good as the first day, but I am afraid to know that because I have done that pixel cleaning I am no longer seeing the image as I should.
Hi Paul, should I toggle the "operate once when TV is off" setting?
So I'm guessing we can use the manual start if the TV was asking for it and I just canceled it at the beginning
Great advice Paul! P.s…lovin the T shirt 👏
Hi, My LG TV is always asking to do pixel refresh automatically. Should I allow or skip? It only takes 5 min to complete.
If its asking, then I'd do it.
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam thank you so much for the reply and time
I’ve run the pixcel cleaning 2 times since I got the TV. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks. Have I ruined my TV? I’ve stoppid using it after reading that it’s not recommended. But, should I be worried after running pixcel cleaning twice?
Yes. It will spontaneously combust at 3pm on Wednesday.
Just leave it plugged in and never use the manual refresher.
If you get burn in, get a QN90.
I did the same thing. How is your TV now?
That tee shirt.....
I'd definitely wear it.
Appreciate the info mate.
where is the regular pixel refresher that doesn't damage the LG C3 tv? or is that on by default somewhere and you can't shut it off? I want that on
It's on your default, and runs when the TV is in standby, after 4 hours of cumulative usage.
I think you saved my lifespan cause I was about to run that thing a lot. Thanks
Sony Bravia OLED does automatically once a year no issues.
Yes it will be running it in stanby before properly powering down and you hear the click.
Thank you for the heads up just got my c1 and i was curious whenever i should run this :)
Is it safe to have it do it when tv turned of automatic by itself ? Theres option where it says when tv turns of it automaticly does it
That's exactly my question. It's not okay to run it manually too often. But what about the auto setting??
Or also what about when TV is asking for it... I cancelled it a few times so can I run it manually because the TV is asking for it every time I started?
Plus why is it not set doing it after turn off instead after startup... then user is forced to wait for it instead of that doing it's job after they don't need it
Thank you. glad I saw this video on my recommended. I just setup my LG C1 48 today!
Hope you enjoy it!
Once again thanks for the great tip.. absolute legend. cheers Paul
Also heard not to unplug tv which could mess up scheduling of auto refreshing system. Sounds like should have battery backup system too.
Hi Paul, my living room is bright like yours and I can see you have an OLED but people are telling me not get an OLED for a bright room and I wanted to ask you, should I get a QN95A or C1 for my bright living room? thanks
