I recommend doing the Pixel Refresh when the tv ask's you to do it. It prevents burn in. I also recommend turning on Logo Brightness to medium or Low so the logo won't burn in. These features protect your tv and investment.
@@TearsofJoy69er To answer your question directly: High: Setting the "Adjust Logo Brightness" to "High" will dim static images, such as logos and subtitles, to the maximum extent possible. This is the most aggressive setting to prevent image retention or burn-in. Off: Setting the "Adjust Logo Brightness" to "Off" will disable this feature entirely. This means that no dimming will be applied to static images, which could potentially increase the risk of image retention. It's generally recommended to keep the "Adjust Logo Brightness" setting on, especially if you frequently watch content with static images. However, if you find that the dimming is too aggressive and negatively impacts your viewing experience, you can adjust the setting to a lower level or turn it off completely. Remember to monitor your TV for any signs of image retention and adjust the setting as needed.
@JedEckert Thanks a lot for the reply, appreciated, I only play video games on my TV and have had the setting turned off, so.. that would be considered a bad idea to have it off then, huh?
I just got my 65" LG G4 yesterday morning. I'll have to wait for my brother in law to help me mount it to my wall so it may be a while before I can start to enjoy it. Can hardly wait!
I got my 77-in a week ago, loving it! Make sure you find a preset you like and tune the color and the brightness to your liking and you won't be disappointed.
Don't recall at the moment (not at home). I set it to automatic since the first time I did a manual cleaning and haven't seen another message. Perhaps it hasn't decided a need to or at least it hasn't told me. Honestly I don't know if it cleane every time the TV is shut off or at certain hours-of-use intervals.
A reality based counter to this is if you game 6+ hours a day burn is not an if it is a when you will probably experience it after 18-24 months definitely by 2 and a half years you will have absolutely guaranteed burn in.
Love the way my LG C3 does the automatic pixel refreshes without ever annoying me with notifications during normal daily use. I've only ever seen one notification since 2019 when I got my first OLED TV and that was when my old LG B9 had to run the 2,000 hour longer one hour pixel refresh after I'd owned it for 18 months. This is in complete contrast to my 27" Alienware QD-OLED monitor where it seems to run the pixel refresher every time the screen saver comes on, which is after 2 minutes of non-PC use. When I try to use my PC it then pops up an annoying window asking me if I want to interrupt it or let it continue that requires me to have to use the monitor joystick to close. I wish the experience was more seamless like my LG C3 TV.
Quite a change since my 2020 CX. Only difference pixel refreshes at 2000 hr. intervals. Tv is still running perfectly now approaching 13,000 hours! Best longterm result I have ever owned!
@@joeldrake2161 a good decision! I have the Samsung 95D in my store and that looks impressive. The thing that people reported online was with last years model about it disconnecting with the magic box and there hasn’t been a change on this years so potentially the same issue might happen. The G4 just looks and sounds so impressive I’d love to it in a gaming mode. The 90D my store has just got it in, not out on display yet but it will be in the next few weeks. No one at Samsung has confirmed of its an oled or QD-Oled.
On older models the manual pixel clean was 1 hour long. Now it says 10 minutes. Either they shrunk it up to that amount or we just cannot do the long refresh manually anymore. And I think there is a difference between “quick check” and “start”. I wish you would’ve addressed that too, maybe in a next video. Another thing, not sure if correct, but with the newer models the long refresh could happen at 500 hours, not at 2000…or depends by the usage. Appreciate your work, there’s not many channels covering this subject!
I heard everytime the refresh is run, it permanently reduces its total possible brightness by a tiny amount. As maintenance, I always keep a black background with icons hidden on my pc since I only use the tv to game.
Thank you for the informative video. A side question anybody have thoughts on the screen move function? I have a C1 and curious if I should have it on or off? Thanks much!
Paul, can you confirm the pixel refresh on the C3 is automatic? I have a C3 refurb that I got from Curry's and there was no manual. I've run the refresh manually a couple of times since early April, but if it's doing it automatically after every 4 hrs of use when I turn the TV off, I can forget about having to do it.
You do not need to be running manual pixel cleans of the TV, the TV will let you know when it needs to be done and the TV does it after every four hours of use when it is turned on standby, doing manual refreshes like that since April is excessive and could cause you more issues
My problem is that I get the message every time I turn on the TV - even though I ran the pixel refresh with popup and from menu. I tried everything - including a factory reset. Any ideas?
Hi Paul another great video. Certain scene have swirls in background on my G3 never seen that on my last oled. Does anyone experience that is it when trying to upscale maybe

But when I turn the tv back on and then eventually turn it off I see the same message to perform a pixel refresh. Not sure how to get rid of these messages, and not exactly sure that the pixel refresh completed.
I am retired. Would you recommend I buy an OLED TV or move to LED if I have it on 10 hours a day watching, TV shows, news channels, movies and streaming Netflix. The static news channels would be on approximately 2-3 hours each day. I am concerned about image retention and how long the TV will last. Many times the TV is on and we are doing other things in the house.
How frequently or between how many hours of this pixal cleaning tool has to be run my LG C3 is one year old and run for 485hrs till date. I have never kept my tv in standby mode any time.

Does the pixel cleaning on the LG C3 happen every 4hour, or do i have to press the button "operate once when the tv is turned off" to make it run automaticly every 4 hours?
Thanks! We have the C1 and I think have only seen that message once so maybe it is doing the refresh during standby. Our TV is on almost all day. Is there a more intense refresh? I remember it taking at least 30 minutes.
I have been using C2 for almost 2 years. and never got any notification. the TV run pixel refresh in background after I turn off, which actually in standby mode, not completely shutdown.
Does anyone know if Quick Start+ being set to Off prevents the automatic 4-hour pixel refresh from running? The description LG provides - "a feature that switches the TV to standby mode when it's turned off". Does that mean when it's not On the TV doesn't go to standby mode, but instead shuts down completely and therefore doesn't pixel refresh?
The best way to check if the automatic pixel refresh is being done is to plug a Hard Drive in. If the hard drive is running while the TV is off, it means it’s doing the pixel refresh
I have a lg tv idk what model it is but this looks similar anyways I’ve have some blue looking patches on my screen idk how but I’m guessing it was from a storm I didn’t have that part to prevent it but is there a way to fix it
