The fact that the scenes change depending on the angles they're approached from is insane attention to detail, I never noticed it.
THE most underrated RE channel. Here's a comment for the algorithm until I get off work and watch.
haha thank you! The algorythm is pleased, too.
Hope the rest of your work goes well
The amount of new information in this one is crazy. All those micro details we STILL didn't know about after playing this game for years and years. Capcom was at the height of their powers. Can't wait to see part 2!!!
That's a great term, "micro details" and yes, it's absolutely fascinating!
And here I am picking up Capcom's slack bringing it to the English world 😄
The script and audio is all done for part 2, and there's a few really...weird entries.
But been dying to try Tormented Souls so need to recharge.
To me, this is one of the "true" remakes that 2-3 should have followed. Shinji was in his prime during these times.
Yeah, I was just reading last night how originally the remake was going to only be a graphical upgrade but thanks to Mikami we got so much more
The different cutscenes that depends on where you approach barry blew my mind, Amazing video as always, it really shows how much care you put in these videos
Yeah, the attention to detail! All the little things like that, or the moth on that one window, etc. really make REmake such an amazing experience. And it's almost 20 years old!
And thank you! It's really fun to try and visualize how to convey this information. And RE has some hilarious one liners too which helps
I've been watching all your videos tonight, ad enjoying them all. 😁
No way that is incredible to hear!! I've been admiring your work too, you've really been an inspiration!
Wow, you've really made my 2023 haha!
I'm guessing the Panic status condition was going to be used during the part where you need to use the shutters to cover the windows while the neptunes try to break it open.
With that scene being so short, Capcom figured nobody would bother to check their status during that moment
Ah! That makes sense! I can definitely see that. You could expand that to other events like having the ceiling come down, or spinning blades come at you, etc. Those are so short you wouldn't notice either.
It's videos like these that make me appreciate how games from back in the day were chock-full of content and replayability from day one of release, instead of having cut content become DLC you have to buy.
...YOU CAN RETRIEVE THE DAGGERS?!
Holy frick, I've been playing since the GameCube, and had no idea you could do that! I was certain they were one use only!
Haha it's not 100%, but still pretty cool!
Almost 20 years later and this game keeps on giving with the smallest of details that remained unnoticed for so long! You truly are the gem that keeps on giving! I bet that Mikami, Kobayashi and Takeuchi would be proud of your hard work! ^^
Wow, what a compliment, thank you!! It'd be great to interview any of those people. I'd really like to talk to the person who wrote the text on the items too 😄
@@raccooncitycinema Cheers man! And hey, that would be an amazing gift if that ever happens! But hey, a man can dream. XD
Still, I'm sure you will find whoever wrote the text of items someday! A miracle is always out there waiting to be unfolded... ;)
I always wondered how to unlock that picture of Chris wearing Jill's hat. I remember seeing it on the Internet but never knew how to unlock it. A lot of these things I found out on my own through years of playing REmake but there was still a lot of informative stuff in here. Another terrific video RCC!
Glad to hear there was something informative! And now that you mention it, the devs really deserve props for so many unlockables in here!
The attention to details on the position of the characters for some cutscene is just insane. RE1, Dino Crisis, RE1R, RE4, God Hand, The Evil Within; Shinji Mikami is one of the best directors out there, he not only have some great creative ideas, but help flourish the best out of his team and his creatives minds at the moment of creating a videogame
1:51 I’m pretty sure this “disappearing corpse” is actually the zombie that bursts through the kitchen door the first time you enter it and attempt to leave. When you fist find him he’s just an infected dead guy, but he turns, wakes up, and wanders down the hall while you visit the kitchen.
That's awesome! Makes sense too, you're probably right!
20:20 That is an awesome shot
Thanks! I was going for a Charlie's Angels look... uh Wesker's Angels I guess
In the original you lose the ability to get the extra handgun bullets on Forests body if you let Barry take out the zombie
How many bullets are we talking. We save between 3 & 10 & we can gain what 20 or 30 bullets so it likely is a worse choice to save them but in the long run maybe not as more bullets really early is better than in the mid game.
Barry’s samurai edge is reference to a particular model of Beretta called the 93R (Raffica) specially designed to be able perform a three round burst while everyone else’s is based on the 92 (9mm) & 96 (40cal) etc..
Barry's samurai edge is a Beretta 96 which is 40sw instead of the Beretta 92 9mm samurai edge that every one else uses
Incredible video as always. I love the amount of care and detail they put into this game. Remake is the greatest.
Yes, it's absolutely incredible! 20 years on and still noticing things.
And thank you so much!
If two zombies fall in the same spot you can burn them both with one use of the kerosene.
Right, that's the "Break out the marshmallows" achievement!
I wish I saw this before I 100% finish the game a couple of months ago. Soo good!
I’ve never seen before the cutscene with Barry killing the zombie from afar, it amazed me
Glad to hear it! I love how there are all these slight differences so even after multiple play throughs it feels like you get something a little different
@@raccooncitycinema I’m currently surfing your channel, this is amazing content! Do you know if there are any guidebook from the Remakes? I love the info about running speeds, healing percentage, and so on!
@@Visethelegend thank you! Afaik there's only a guide for games up until RE2 Remake. I started translating that one, but it's still in print and for sale, so I don't wanna get in trouble for sharing stuff. Maybe in the future I'll do that, but there is detailed info in there
11:16 Rebecca´s face... priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂 she responded pretty well to being forgotten
I never seen the alternate scene for the first zombie before. Very good video!

Yeah a toggle option to turn it off woulda nice
Thanks for the shoutout at the end, amazing video as always!
Those are all cool details and info, but what left me really dumbstruck here is finding out you can stab Tyrant's arm while he's holding you. I'd never have imagined that!
Looking forward for part 2 (':
Thanks for being a part of the video!Sorry if I said your name wrong 😣
And yeah, I think I've only had that happen once and I know I used the stungun on him once too.
The book says the dagger do up to 50% damage. If that counts for Tyrant too then the dagger is OP haha
Please never stop with the puns, they add to the charm of everything.
Nice work, lad.
Thank you! So glad someone likes the puns. I resisted so hard not putting a joke about "unarmed" when talking about shooting off the crimson heads arms. I was worried the puns might be getting out of hand 👍

Didn't know about the subtle cutscene variations either. Pretty cool.
Dunno if someone pointed it out, but in Polish - "Parasol" means Umbrella :D so when I saw "Parasol" on this disc I laughed really hard. I know it's not intentional, but it does look amazing considering accidental tie to Umbrella Corporation :D

I may revisit REmake in the future, there are small novelizations and an epilogue in this book
Great job on the video! Very interesting insights from the guidebook. Personally, I like Jill's backstory in the S.D. Perry novels a lot more than Capcom's. In the books, Jill is the daughter of a thief which is why she's so good with a lock pick.
Thanks for all your comments! That's a cool piece of backstory! If her father was a French thief, that sounds a little like Lupin the 3rd haha

What I would give to have the rest of the series remade with the love and care this one had. Why can't we have both classic resi and new age? It's money capcom can just print off.

The one with Jill having the knife also pops up if you did a knife only run. Idk if the worn outfit affects it but I was wearing the standard one when I did the run and got that ending screen.

Wow, I didn't know some of these secrets. I always thought playing as Chris was a little easier. Low inventory but he has more health and a higher hit point.
Glad to hear it! I can never remember where those old keys are haha
I'm most of the way though making a comparison review between the original and the remake and I found the shotgun to be really unreliable to take a zombie head with the first shot. Between the amount of testing I've done, the amount seems to go up when the shotgun is fully loaded, but it's still inconsistent whether or not it will actually get the job done. Chris does have a higher likelihood. Not sure if it's a hd remaster thing, as that's the only version I have access to, but going from the original and the method of the shotgun flick to take a zombie head, to I have maybe a 50/50 to get it done in the remake is a bit frustrating. Hope to have the review done before the end of the month. Awesome video

Well, i think theres another place where you can get "one time" perspective. Its the after the L corridor (dog corridor) entering throw the door of the winding room, close to the outside boiler and bathroom with the bathtub zombie, on the eastwing of the mansion...
Oh, I'll have to check that out, thanks! That wasn't in the book
@@raccooncitycinema Thanks for amazing video, i liked so much! I think in HD remaster there's others place that aren't in the guidebook. @@erickvonengelwalten8568 Awesome! Thanks so much I'll be sure to check em out!
I wonder who's sick joke it was to make Forrest mode be permanent & was it made non-permanent on the HD form or did they leave it bad. Also Jill holds the wrong pistol in the HD (maybe the original) version as she holds a generic pistol instead of her custom one & Rebecca has hers for no reason.
Haha more than any crimson head, the bomb zombie makes me jump still. And yeah, you can't turn it off in the HD remaster either. Huh, I never noticed that about her pistol!
@@raccooncitycinema For the bomb zombie does it affect the new start or only the game when you continue following a completed reset save? Because it sounds really annoying to have that I've only finished the game once or twice but I'd hate to have that kinda gamemode stuck on forever.
@@cillianennis9921 I think it only applies to when you load a saved game. So a new game should be safe. But then you don't get to use any of the weapons you've unlocked, so there's a bit of a trade off
@@raccooncitycinema Yeah I always started new as I thought the other thing just existed to clear your save data to stop save scumming of the endings. Wasn't until I played RE3 Nemesis that I realised it was how the older games pass on the earned stuff which in this case is kinda good & bad.
@@cillianennis9921 haha yeah here it's pretty cruel, you get unlimited ammo, but nope, can't relax because there's a one hit KO zombie chasing you

20:37 ohno, panik
Any indication / theories as to what Panic status entails?
This one got me stumped. Just a guess but maybe something similar Eternal Darkness' sanity meter? But instead of hallucinations maybe you'd be paralyzed and unable to move for a time, like when the hunter is approaching Rebecca?
Couldn't find ANY info about it. I dunno if anyone else has info on it. I found it by pulling textures from the Biohazard Special Edition with the Dolphin emulator (I'm assuming it's in the retail version too and other people have likely seen it).
Wait wait wait wait wait! There were actually plans for a sequel to code Veronica?
You saw my video man, and I am pretty sure you figured out that I had to decipher that the hard way. I had to decipher that code Veronica was perfectly set up with a sequel in mind.
It was almost like metal gear solid too. You knew after playing the game that canonically there will be another metal gear that continues the story or concludes the story and we got that in metal gear for
But now it seems that code Veronica as I suspect it will always go down as what could’ve been in terms of a sequel game or even a trilogy.
And that is another reason why it stands out. It feels so incomplete just on its own.
Anyways man, thanks for all your hard work in bringing out the facts. Definitely learned a lot and I also realized that I missed out on the remake of the original resident evil which I feel I would’ve really enjoyed playing
Yeah your vid did show how CV would be perfect for a sequel! I'm sorry, I'm a little confused though, did I say something about a CV sequel in this video?
@@raccooncitycinema yes. You indicated that some of the small text in one of those serum bottles or something if not gibberish and one of them asks you to play resident evil code Veronica too. This indicates that Capcom had a sequel to code Veronica land and that is why they made a game that instead of building up the protagonist, Capcom broke down Claire Redfield character to build her back up again in the sequel.
Unfortunately the sequel never got made and we did not see Claire Redfield in an actual game that continue the story after “Veronica, for 15 years.
@@TheBengalDragon Code Veronica was made in 2000, this Remake was made in 2002.
I know that. I never claimed otherwise. Sorry about the confusion. I was just highlighting that a CV trilogy could have been the greatest RE character story ever told, as especially American fans LOVE character stories, that's why MSG is so popular, that's why BATMAN is so popular.
There is a hidden in plain sight story in RECVX and of Claire that almost EVERY PERSON missed in RECVX. I made a very long video detailing all of it, AND the lost potential that could have been in a RECVX trilogy. I invite you to watch it on my channel.
Anyways, sorry for any confusion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do those running speed stats say that Chris runs faster when damaged than when at full health with a heavy weapon equipped? Seems odd if that's the case.
So the caution/danger/poison speeds are for unequipped. The equipped speeds with status aren't listed
how do you create the toxic gas from 15:00?
Good question, mix NP-004 and UMB-10 OR NP-004 and VP-17.
I think you make NP-004 by mixing UMB No.3 with water, and then make UMB No. 10 by first making NP-004 and add Yellow 6. Hope that helps.
Can you elaborate more on "the shotgun's first shot can always decapitate a zombie?" I feel like I've experienced plenty of times where my first shot didn't get the critical. Great videos!
Thank you! And yes, I don't remember how I worded it in the video but I should have said "Your first shot after picking up the shotgun has the potential to always decapitate a zombie." So the other variables are range and if it's pointed up in the proper direction. If those are met it should decap just the one time reliably.
As I mentioned I heard this from CarcinogenSDA, and I tested this about 6 times and it worked every time for me so I thought it's probably true, but that's a pretty small number so we could be wrong, or it's only in a specific version of the game.
Sorry I don't have anything concrete but I hope that helps!
@@raccooncitycinema yeah that’s kinda helpful lol I have every version of REmake so maybe I’ll just do some testing on my own. The vids of you breaking down the Japanese guides are great, I just came across them recently.

How do you play as Rebecca? I just played through it the other day on Switch.
Could be wrong but if you get bitten by Yawn as Chris, you control Rebecca to get the serum. if you let Richard die she won't help you but you play as her later against plant 42
While a very good game and excellent example of how to do a remake, I feel like I'm in the minority in liking the original game more
There is a particular aesthetic and atmosphere about the original that's got a level of scariness to it I don't get from the remake.
The music is a big part of it I think.
I'd love for them to do a remake in the same style as RE2 and 3 (remakes), but based off the original and not the GameCube remake. If that makes sense.
Hello my friend, I had a quick question.
I am going to refer to the hidden message by the developers that asks you to play Code Veronica, in my Code Veronica vs Darkside Chronicles comparison video, as part of the detailed analysis on how Capcom did damage control for Code Veronica.
(i.e by even resorting to subliminal messaging lol)
Can I use that particular clip from this video, and please do feel free to say no. It's completely fine my friend.
Yeah, go ahead and use it 👍
I appreciate you asking, too!
How's it coming along?
@@raccooncitycinema Thank you for the permission.
Well, I finished the video recording bits, and from the looks of it, I realized that I talked about a LOT of things, including popular misconceptions about Code Veronica (for example, Claire wasn't even supposed to be in it, it was supposed to be Jill) simmilarities with Titanic, where Steve's Dicaprio hairstyle was a cause of concern, but Leon's Dicaprio hairstyle in RE2 wasnt, and other things, including the differences between Code Veronica and Darkside Chronicles.
Heck, I even picked up a deep cut concussion over Thanksgiving break, and once I recovered enough in a couple of hours, decided to work that into the script too :)
