Check out the supply block at 8:30. It takes a full 11 seconds just to start the Overloards to get out the supply block. All the while banking close to 1k mins.
Artosis, you are my favourite caster - really good work here. Of all my subscriptions, your videos are definitely the ones I look forward to the most. Great quality, really good commentary, and a variety of other videos such as interviews and balance discussion always keep me coming back for more! Thanks a lot man!
I watch his stream almost daily, I dont mind staying up late to do so either :) I have to say this is one of if not the best games I've seen in Starcraft 2. I'm a fan of both player, they're both terrific, and this game is really a testament to both of their skill level. Great game, glad I could watch it again, especially in 1080P :)
+Anghorn32 yeah. this attack really was the most valued i think. a lot of marine losses for some infestor energy. seemed like the turning point of this game
Really neat game. When I saw the game length and that IdrA playing and Artosis commentating, I knew IdrA would win, but it was a very enjoyable game to watch. Thanks.
The average player did not improve that much. New optimal build orders are copy pasted and it doesnt make the newer players smarter, and game mechanics have been facilitated in various ways (auto drone split at the start, creep spreading, injects,...)
and gold league ? absolutely not. Gold league players have minerals floating at 2k whenever they are under some kind of pressure. They would lose extremely fast against players of that caliber.
@mcmanus1806 its because you have it set when you go to full screen it goes to highest possible resolution so it has to reload it ... in this case from 360p to 720p
Artosis's commentary is so much better than anyone elses! hopefully you'll make many more commentary videos in the future! I really enjoy watchin someone who actually knows about the game and has experience in pro-level gaming!
@APRIME Yep. Also balanced is the 300 food push, and the tech switching capacity of zerg. MULEs are god, but they HAVE to be to keep up with Protoss and Zerg economies, and, in fact, early game Terran is slightly behind economically.
Idra at his absolute best, that Mutalisk play in the midgame almost moved me to tears. Great to watch this. I was thinking about switching from Zerg to Terran recently, but I've been inspired again, I'm a Zerg player always.
@M1stF1nk haha the app is called SC2 Timer. Its essentially just a time. It shouts loudly every 29 seconds (so it reminds you when to inject and spread creep) Its for Iphone on app store.
Amazing game. BOTH players played amazing, I think IdrA's early success in some of the Muta attacks taking so many key Meds and Tanks gave him much more leway to get the econ edge he needed. Still, *phew* IMVP just put tremendous pressure and it was amazing how few units he needed to do so much, too. Thumbs up!
@TDBhCorsica I know it doesn't change anything, but on the stream after Idra won, someone asked him if he just beat MVP in-game. Idra said yes, but he also said it was because of early game luck because MVP didn't attack with that early army...So Idra was being somewhat humble :)
@DanToretto1 Yeah, saw Artosis and Idra in their Imbalance vid, really nice. And it's really great to get the dimension of skill & league into that discussion; I get 6-pooled a lot and it is hard to defend, but it doesn't make it imba - it just makes me less skilled :) I can't really judge if the game is imbalanced at pro level, my comment was more along the lines of Idras previous rage when losing to Terrans. But the game is still young so it's really exciting too see how it all folds out! :)
I think I've finally figured out one of idras problems I'm not sure if he still does it but I have noticed it for a very long time he does not send ultras first to soak up siege tank fire so that banelings and lings can break through more effectively, instead it just looks like one big a move, just something that was has been on my mind for a while.
At 23:20 when he drops mules by the oribal command being attacked by mutas they were not a waste, they were from the dying orbital so he wanted to drop them before it went down.
@BadatStuff I really wanted but UA-cam do not permit any kind of posting link. Just go to gomtv, click video, click sony eriksson starcraft 2 open seanson 3 and find the match. That's all! btw. IMMvp do pwn EGidra not just one match(3 set) but two match in a official televised match. the record is 4-1 for IMMvp. (one is Open Season 3 and the other is Gisado StarChanllenge)
@ExplicitSimplicity actualy, mvp's style is to get alot of orbitals so he can get alot of mules, this way he doesnt have alot of SCV's but a very large army.
Wile this is an epic game, I kind felt that IdrA got this this before mid-game. Makes me even more proud of him, out playing the current best player of the world. GO foreigners!
@Wickedsicked8 each upgade is +2/+4 vs armored, it does make a big diffrence when its attack rate is .86 very fast, start with 1 armor an up to add 2 and 3 upgrades from evo chamber. 6 armor, a marine with no more than 1 attack upgrade does only 1 damage. It's a better collusus since it's not targeted by air. a stalker is 125/50 anyways blink has a colldown time and if you're on creep they move faster. Broodloords destroy ground armies even with anti air.
That was a sick game, man. It's pretty cool that only you get exclusive IdrA replays, as his stream is pretty much impossible to watch when you live in the EU.
@Pulsar718 I agree, I think IdrA plays a factor since people always blame/ate Husky for uploading IdrA losses. But Husky explained that he can't get his hands on IdrA's winning replays since IdrA does not release replays but to Artosis and most people who upload IdrA replays are those who beat him and see him raging.
@KizzleTheBump They did play best of 3 twice in a televised match. One was GSL Open Season 3 Ro.16. and the other was Gisado Star Chanllenge. IMMvp pwned EGIdra both times (2-1, 2-0)
Both played a spectacular game. A very good map allowed Idra to show his true skill. I feel MVP maybe wasn't playing at his very best, but he was still amazing and showing why he is the best player in the world and Idra showing why he is the most consistent and arguably the best foreigner.
@forzaazzurri101 Thank you for being a voice of reason on here. I figured that most of these people would've seen the TL post, where it's kinda obvious who wins. I mean, why would Artosis make a thread in which it's a normal game where the Zerg loses? Anyways, just thank you, I guess.
@SeedyV I agree that he undersold it, since I don't think he caught it in time, but it was one big moment among many big moments in the game. It was great to look at, but it wasn't really a game changer.
@AeneasHelikaon where can we see iron's squid games in english (I watch some of them casted by 2 french guy called Pomf et Thud but I don't know if english guy cast them too...
@TheWargasmic Not true. Mutalisks can take out stray tanks or thors, make marines stim, take out scvs. IF microed correctly. which diamond and higher always do.
During the post-season, before the GSL 2011 tournaments were underway, MVP took part as one of the Terran players for Gisado's Challenge, which featured a King of the Hill style between the three races. Against the Zerg race, MVP defeated the complete 5-member roster comprising of TSL_FruitDealer, EGIdrA, oGsZenio, LeenockfOu and IMNesTea, with all but one match being a 2-0. -Liquipedia I wanna watch Idra vs IMMvp when mvp won! Somebody plz upload it!
@corvibandit Do u see the problem? to beat mass muta, you say protoss needs Stalker+archon+sentry(plus upgrades most likely) . The only mobile unit there is stalker and the stalkers need Gaurdian shield from the immobile sentry to hold their own weight. I agree that they are easy to counter 1:1 but not when you can never get to them in time.
besides that, marines shoot air and are easy to mass (keep in mind that you use your factories mainly for tanks so usually more hellions=less tanks)& you can relatively dodge storms using stim and retreat so the marines are protected by sieged tanks. ofc late armies are hard to micro properly and other races have different advantages, the game must be ballanced (although i thought terran is way op when i had zerg as my main race, but didn't realise how hard is for a terran to micro properly)
@stirwins333 only reason it APPEARED 14 harvestors outmined 40 is b/c mvp happened to piled up energy on OC's (saving up scans), and he decides to use them all up before his OC's got pwnd by ultralisks
@animuslogik They're really not, but they're mostly for entertainment; they can't compare to artosis or psystarcraft for direct strategy advice. TotalHalibut is even MORE for the entertainment side and actually has some of the sports-caster speed up and good humor; but he doesn't know much past the very basics. @googlian83 I guess it would be possible that he could have lost his army though attacking earlier? :S I agree, that it would have been different, but maybe MVP saw attacking as risky, which I guess would be true if Idra didn't go as heavy on the droning?
well, usually mech involves huge ammounts of siege tanks and some thors (very few if he is protoss and some more if he is zerg, thors are crucial in defending against air). you won't see hellions in late game because of low dmg& low hp, they are great for harass and nothing more. instead you back up with lots of marines (wich are gas free) and use your gas on vikings if he goes colossi heavy or void rays.
It's pretty funny watching this in 2022. This was considered a good macro game at the time, but each player hard multiple opportunities to straight up end the game that they missed. Sc community has gotten infinitely better decision making and game sense. The ro8 players of 2012 are only the level of diamond players of today. Makes it a little bit less depressing for any hardstuck mid masters players like myself
@ike1218CA you could compare 150 apm to 280 apm. it definitely requires a lot of skill but can your apm keep up with the amount of preemptive thinking?
there were 2600 people watching idra's stream before this game started there were 5800 people watching by the time it ended it was pretty awesome to experience
@smdiddy He can snipe the tanks because they have to sit there and take it and if they do unseige they take 4 sec to start moving again. All i was saying is that terran units (the strong ones) are sloooow. Tanks and thors are either immobile or slow, where zerg are really fast. They all have speed upgrades. And the only way terran go move fast is stim and it hurts them. So when he moved out he had to put his tank s somewhere (thern they can't move, this losing map control).
I know what u mean there but same with terran. You gotta constantly produce barracks and things to keep up with zerg. Zerg has a universal production structure unlike terran, so its quite a bit different in macro techniques. And this conversation was abt micro fyi.
@rendros88 If you wait to when your 200/200 energy on a CC and call down 4 mules at once you gain alot of minerals under a short perioed of time. But you will not end up in on the same stage as you would if you called it down at 50/200 energy. If your bad at inject larva and get over 25 extra engery it may be spended on something else as a creep tumour or a tranfuse. If Cooldown was added on MULE/Scan it will be hard for T to move out, kill creep tumors+make it even harder to keep up lategame
@El3mentEMS terrans : 3 units for an entire game with little micro needed, only for splitting marines. zergs : 3 units to deal with that strategy + extreme micro (watch out, baneling must not be grouped or tanks kill them all, they must attack marines and not tanks, speedlings must distract tanks AND block marines, mutas must avoid marines and attack tanks. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.)
Terran has more things to micro, but they are easier to handle, and messing up on any one point is considerably less significant than fudging zerg macro. Terran units inherently have a speed and range advantage over Zerg units, which makes most Terran micro very offensive. Where zerg micro in response is usually simply to get your units to actually work at normal effectiveness. If you send banelings at a good marine splitter, they're going to do nothing. Vice versa, marines will do plenty.
yea, i guess selecting 4 marines at a time and telling them to move a few meters away is way more micro intensive than surrounding kiting units with zerlings while splitting banelings to avoid having one tank killing all of them in one shot AND while making sure mutas dont run into a pack of stimpacked marines. basically : zergs have to split their banelings (because of tanks) like terrans do with marines, BUT zergs must micro other units at the same time.
@mholden02 The problem is that it is all too easy for the Terran to come back into the game if the Zerg makes a mistake. Most Zerg games are (or at least feel) very close until you read the gg...
@roflrawrrofl Sort of agree, I think balance needs to be tweaked a little, ie nerf marauder damage, maybe make stim a little weaker, but I play terran so i'm biased, but you have to agree that MVP's constant drops and the amount of economic damage he inflicted on idra was a big contributer in keeping him in the game for as long as he did, even though Idra was on top most of the game.
This game was so sick to watch live I was on the edge of my seat like the whole game screaming just gg mvp
It is funny to see top-level play look like some master league play nowadays.
Masterleauge the fighting the took wear just terrible
I guess low master or possibly high diamond.
The pace of the game was very different back then.
Check out the supply block at 8:30. It takes a full 11 seconds just to start the Overloards to get out the supply block. All the while banking close to 1k mins.
They paved the way
Any one in 2018.... I miss the old days 😔
Alexander brown me too
DEAD!
2019. Same man. I was living it for years lol. Super sad they took down the WOL ladder tbh. It was well alive until Free to Play came out.
2019
I’m in 2020 missing it
Artosis, you are my favourite caster - really good work here. Of all my subscriptions, your videos are definitely the ones I look forward to the most. Great quality, really good commentary, and a variety of other videos such as interviews and balance discussion always keep me coming back for more! Thanks a lot man!
2020.. nostalgia trip D:
thank God SC2 is still around
I watch his stream almost daily, I dont mind staying up late to do so either :)
I have to say this is one of if not the best games I've seen in Starcraft 2.
I'm a fan of both player, they're both terrific, and this game is really a testament to both of their skill level. Great game, glad I could watch it again, especially in 1080P :)
Cant believe artosis was focused at A brute lord instead of the massive fungals at24:57
+Anghorn32 yeah. this attack really was the most valued i think. a lot of marine losses for some infestor energy. seemed like the turning point of this game
Really funny looking back on this in 2022.
This showed up in my recommendations lol
Really neat game. When I saw the game length and that IdrA playing and Artosis commentating, I knew IdrA would win, but it was a very enjoyable game to watch. Thanks.
It's EG Idra, not Hydra, Artosis...
An all time classic between two WoL KINGS!
Man we've come a long way. This is like a gold league match in terms of the decisions and build orders. They are not very greedy at all.
+Ryukey A diamond league player now would be bonjwa level back then, the improvement of players has been huge.
Lol look at the non existent creep spread also :D
@@haytionette Creep spread's speed was increased and that is still some very good creep spread.
Great cast, Artosis! Enjoyed every single bit of it and there were no bad-calls or misinformation. Once again, thank you :D
The best game of sc2 ever. Long live Artosis and IdrA
@mcmanus1806 its because you have it set when you go to full screen it goes to highest possible resolution so it has to reload it ... in this case from 360p to 720p
Ahh, I remember justin.tv
Thank you so much artosis, been waiting a couple days for this! (since i heard it was epic).
Wow people were really bad at sc2
Very nice commentary. I love the in depth analysis you throw in. I'll definitely check out your other videos.
Artosis's commentary is so much better than anyone elses! hopefully you'll make many more commentary videos in the future! I really enjoy watchin someone who actually knows about the game and has experience in pro-level gaming!

Props for the new Unbalanced show!
@M1stF1nk haha the app is called SC2 Timer. Its essentially just a time. It shouts loudly every 29 seconds (so it reminds you when to inject and spread creep) Its for Iphone on app store.
Gr8 match and thanks for putting it here with your commentary, which IMHO fit very well.
The masterpiece by both of them ! That's what i was waiting for! thx Artosis!
Watched this live it was so great, the chat went totally ape shit after the GG it was a huge adrenaline rush and the best game I have seen in a while.
Amazing game. BOTH players played amazing, I think IdrA's early success in some of the Muta attacks taking so many key Meds and Tanks gave him much more leway to get the econ edge he needed. This game was on last night IdrA stream. we are very fortunate for artosis to have access to it. chat flipped out when this match up came
@DanToretto1 Yeah, saw Artosis and Idra in their Imbalance vid, really nice. And it's really great to get the dimension of skill & league into that discussion; I get 6-pooled a lot and it is hard to defend, but it doesn't make it imba - it just makes me less skilled :) I can't really judge if the game is imbalanced at pro level, my comment was more along the lines of Idras previous rage when losing to Terrans. one of the best games ive ever seen...and GREAT cast. ty artosis for making my day :D
Yeah I thought this was new until you said JustinTV. What a blast from the past
@ExplicitSimplicity actualy, mvp's style is to get alot of orbitals so he can get alot of mules, this way he doesnt have alot of SCV's but a very large army.
One of the most amazing games I have ever seen. Great job Artosis!
Wile this is an epic game, I kind felt that IdrA got this this before mid-game. Makes me even more proud of him, out playing the current best player of the world. GO foreigners!
I haven't seen the latest GomTV finals (currently watching ro16). But thanks for spoilering the winner before advising me to watch it.
@Wickedsicked8
each upgade is +2/+4 vs armored, it does make a big diffrence when its attack rate is .86 very fast, start with 1 armor an up to add 2 and 3 upgrades from evo chamber. 6 armor, a marine with no more than 1 attack upgrade does only 1 damage. It's a better collusus since it's not targeted by air. a stalker is 125/50 anyways blink has a colldown time and if you're on creep they move faster. Broodloords destroy ground armies even with anti air.
Wow, great game the whole way through. Keep up the awesome work Artosis. You're the man.
Damn, where has the last decade going?
@KizzleTheBump They did play best of 3 twice in a televised match. One was GSL Open Season 3 Ro.16. and the other was Gisado Star Chanllenge. IMMvp pwned EGIdra both times (2-1, 2-0)
Wooo! Thanks for getting this one out so quickly!
Both played a spectacular game. A very good map allowed Idra to show his true skill. I feel MVP maybe wasn't playing at his very best, but he was still amazing and showing why he is the best player in the world and Idra showing why he is the most consistent and arguably the best foreigner.
His stream is Late, sometimes during weekends only I can see him play...
Yes!!! Thanks for doing this man! This game was so awesome!
@AeneasHelikaon where can we see iron's squid games in english (I watch some of them casted by 2 french guy called Pomf et Thud but I don't know if english guy cast them too...
Well, this game was one of the most cleverness and real GG match that I've ever seen! Congrat. guys! Is it grand master league? :)
@TheWargasmic Not true. Mutalisks can take out stray tanks or thors, make marines stim, take out scvs. IF microed correctly. which diamond and higher always do.
@Healingproof Whats perfect about not attacking with his beginning marine and marauder force which would have stomped idra?
@bobdonda true, true. you should watch artosis' imbalanced series on this channel. it actually goes into detail about this.
both great players. very talented when it comes to playing this game. idra is fracking awesome

How come the tank production speed skyrocketed at 10:34?
@Starcraftmazter that's because of his skill not the race.
it's funny how similar this map is to the current ladder map Golden Wall, I assume it must have been based on Shakuras
@Assaultpredator This is from EGidra himself. He confessed -_-;;
@El3mentEMS
terrans : 3 units for an entire game with little micro needed, only for splitting marines.

@Kodemann please use starcraft minutes before everyone gets confused. At 10 mins idra has just started his third. Still a quick max though.
this was one of the best SC2 games i have ever seen.. idra played absolutely perfect...
Holy shit. That's the sickest marine split I've ever seen at 18:57
@Conflictedlock what do you mean with "who cares?" can you explain that??
... with an argument of course.
I remember watching this live, probably one of the best matches I've ever seen.
yea, i guess selecting 4 marines at a time and telling them to move a few meters away is way more micro intensive than surrounding kiting units with zerlings while splitting banelings to avoid having one tank killing all of them in one shot AND while making sure mutas dont run into a pack of stimpacked marines.
basically : zergs have to split their banelings (because of tanks) like terrans do with marines, BUT zergs must micro other units at the same time.
