Therapy and medication are very helpful, but finding the correct combo is really important with the least side effects.
Depression to me is like an ocean, sometimes the swells are really nasty, but I know they are temporary no matter the severity and just to be kinder to myself.

you are such an inspiration. I learned a lot about my mental health when my dad was diagnosed with cancer a couple years ago and learned how bad my anxiety really is. I started having panic attacks and tried medication but found that talking about it is what helped the most. I never went to therapy but just getting my thoughts out there to other people was the most relieving thing I ever did. You're going to help a lot of people with videos like this

Glad to see more open talk around mental health. Therapy has saved me from 2020 lol

I'm so glad you opened up about this. I also have mental illness struggles and also take medication for them, that I'm not sure I'll ever go off of, and I've also found it really interesting how my being open about it has led to people around me being more open about their own mental health issues. I posted one time on facebook about how my meds literally helped me perceive colours more vibrantly, and that post had people crawling out of the woodwork with their own stories.
So I definitely agree that the more we talk about it (as much as we're comfortable) openly like it's just any other health issue, the lower the stigma will be, even if only in our own circles.
I'm sorry that one therapist was a bust, but I'm glad you have a good one now.

Everyone should go to therapy at least one time in their life.
Thank you for sharing Megan ❤️

omg that psychologist/psychiatrist should be FIRED! Losing weight doesn't solve EVERYTHING. Especially when it comes to mental health. That's why you go to.a Physician when your body is feeling sick and you go to a Psychologist/Psychiatrist when your mind is "feeling sick". That's why there are two different professions to treat the two different issues. DUH!
Found your channel after watching John @ObesetoBeast react to your latest video on your experience with the fat acceptance movement and I was BLOWN AWAY (also related to bits of it, not going to lie). A+ work, lady. When I came to your channel I was sad to see that you don't have many videos up yet but I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us!
Edit: aww I'm an only child too! :)

Yeah it was a weird time for me for sure. The particular doctor didn’t really make it better lol but thank you so much! Yes my channel is a wee lil beb at the moment but I’m so excited to grow it with this new audience that I have!

I’m so happy you found me too! I plan on making more mental health/chronic illness related content in the future because it is an important conversation to have. Thanks for being here ☺️

Thank you for being open and honest about your mental illnesses. I too have anxiety and depression. I have taken and continue to take meds and I love therapy! I’m old enough to be your mom; but I find you really relatable.😃 As we continue to be open about our mental illness, it will chip away at the stigma. Just FYI I was able to adjust my medications and had 3 pregnancies and 4 beautiful boys! Yes I’m batting 4 for 3.😉 No that’s not a typo. My “babies” (who are almost 19) are identical twins. But I digress. Thank you again!😊
One question for you: I’m considering bariatric surgery. Did your surgery affect your medications?💊
    Take care of you!

I'm going back to therapy in a week. I should've gone ten years ago, but only went for a few times in 2018 (technically to a psychologist), who recommended me further, but that meant I had to call a completely new place to get an actual therapist. So obviously I didn't do it and ignored it for 2 years 🙃 don't do what I did kids, therapy is great and works!!
Just found your channel about 2 hours ago, so far I really enjoy your content!

I'm happy hearing someone else saying they don't know if they'll ever want to go off their medication-- I feel like even when people speak openly about mental health meds it's this idea that they're only used while you're initially in treatment and the ultimate goal is to manage without them. I thought so too, went of my medication for about 6 months, and decided to start taking it again. I started seeing a new therapist who said that is NORMAL! Something like 80% of people who cease taking mental health medications restart them because it's a chemical imbalance in the brain, which doesn't just magically get better once you're done doing the therapy.
I'm hoping at some point I can function well enough to go off of my medication for a pregnancy or two. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Gurrrl I'm not even at the point in my life where I want to have kids, but I'm already stressing about having to go off my meds if/when I do LOL

I have panic attacks too. Like panic disorder n have to take meds. And it is soo exhausting. I filmed .myself having an anxiety attack not a panic attak just so people could see. But im wicked self conscious about it. I may take it down. And i use a stuffed blowfish ahahaha hes ironically soft. But i think you're awesome!

Opening a dialogue up is important and being heard is nice but really getting good feedback is also helpful. My therapist listens more than speaks and we keep our appointmemts short which just feels subpar. But shes a female therapist which i prefer and she already knows my story. Starting over with someone else would just be annoying a little bit
