More pressure and stronger aids tends to produce more balkiness in these horses. Good information but if you don’t have a ground person or other rider is there another way to implement these techniques. I’m by myself most of the time.
Yes, utilizing the cons with targets is a great tool. Also, utilizing a reverse round pen is another great way to create a new an improved reinforcement history with going forward. Horses often don't to go over barn sour or buddy sour issues. Not about "abuse" in the past. Far from it. They also do it as we've unconsciously reinforced the behavior by teaching they can get out of doing what we ask.
