Great video. MY fx6 intake is waaay too long and the way my aquascape is setup it wants to dig into my soil in the back. I'm honestly surprised I've never thought of this considering I've pimped all my filters in the past, just never messed with the intakes. It is also a great excuse to buy more tools.
There is an alternative to this which requires no glueing and uses all of the original bits supplied by Fluval (except the rim clamps). Make it exactly the same but do not glue anything together, it will stay put through friction. Just thread the existing Fluval hoses through the pipework and attach the input tube to the Fluval hose in the normal way. Because none of the joints are glued you can thread them onto the hose one piece at a time.
Pretty nifty information Cory. Will definitely used this on my 75 gallon tank to upgrade my intake and output on my filter. Respectfully, Carlos A. Gonzalez.
I've watched so many of your videos. This is the one I really needed. My c02 diffuser doesn't fit well with the Fluval hosing that goes into the Fluval spray bar. I suppose I am one of the few who actually like the stock Fluval hosing and fittings. I will be making a trip to the hardware store today to build both your spray bar and this intake. Thanks
I am hoping you may have some insight on this. I made a diy canister filter for my aquarium. It works but I noticed as it's been running over the past few hours it's about 1/2 empty now. It still is running fine but I am worried it may empty itself. Any ideas what I did wrong? Thank you very much. Love the videos they are very helpful.
I always add a "T" on the exterior side with a 90degree bend up so I can final fill the canister. Finish that off with a removable twist on cap. It also will allow for refilling for water changes. A quick connect hose connector can be attached.
I’ve just bought the Fluval 407 for my Juwel Vision 450 tank..and the two hose holders are too big to place over back of tank..any suggestions how to remedy this Cory ?
the fx6 would not fit over the rim on my Aquion 210 gal tank , i cut the clips off the hose clamp piece then made a bracket to keep it from flying off randomly

Is this glue gonna terminate my fish? Ta mate.
Always appreciate these types of videos Cory!
More aquarium co op!!! Omg im in heaven!
Always look forward for the content from the Coop :)
Unlimited resource of good info. Love the coop.
Love it! I'd love to keep seeing more diy videos from Aquarium Co-op! 👍
I have done that in the past, what is key is to use a elbow with a cap on the intake so you can easily prime the system.

A towel... genius.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm glad I found you have a 2nd channel.
Really appreciate all these diy videos
You are the man. Thank you!
I've got a ton of these from when I had my fish room running...you never know when you need to use one again!

In a pinch, you can cut pvc with a shoelace or nylon string. The heat from friction cuts right through it.

Great information! Thanks for all you do for the hobby!

Always great information! Thank you for all you do.
You can always use street elbows to shorten the distance between the "in the tank tube" and "out of tank" tube. Less gluing also
Just got an aquarium co-op shirt for my 18th B- day. Doesn’t even have taco stains yet
Great stuff man! We appreciate it!
great video hope your intake sponges and sponge filters make it to canada one day.
Love DIY projects,thank you Cory
Love the demo. Thank you.
for the intake you could also put on a cap and drill holes in the pipe
Where's the video of you installing on Murphy's tank, Id love to see that, but can't find it :(
Did you find the video? I can’t find it
"... so you don't get yelled at..." LOL
I might have missed this, but how do you then set it on the tank and keep it in place?
I have a question, con you run 2 fulval 207 in series. (in one out to the other intake then back to the tank)

do you have decloride water ready because if you fill tap straight to the canister would that kill the bacteria?
Great help, I know what I'm going to do now. Thank you. 💧🐟🌿👍😊
Can you put up the link to Murphy’s set up video please? Thanks
Brilliant idea! Thank you

What do you think about keeping clown killifish and orange Australe killifish together? Also great vid.
Never this early for a video. Probs cuz I live half the globe away :)
Ugh i’ve still been meaning to make a spray bar for my canister filter from video you and Dean did over a year ago lol
Where you finding black fittings? Pipe okay but I haven’t seen 90’s unions at all.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks for the video.

Trying to find 3/4 to 5/8 adapter then the 5/8 twist on barb 😅 I’m not having very much success here!
Great idea!
Cool!

I like to use stainless steel lily pipes.
Don’t get glue on that towel. Ruin the table.

👍
I’m almost positive fluval wouldn’t like this video. Lol
Cory, this is unfair for your canadian fans! We can’t make this - we don’t have the essential aquarium co-op towel!
This is true lol!
💕👍
Why do you call it a cancer filter
👍👍👍😎😎😎
😅😅😅 "sponsored by fluval, let's make it better!"
I watched this video for some reason
But I don’t want to ruin my co-op towel…
