dude i just built one of these filters for just the skimming took it right from the pages of your book!!! its a great read for anyone who wants to do it themselves!
This is awesome! This is why I started watching your videos years ago. Your mind is just geared to finding ways to make the hobby easier and cheaper, plus your energy and enthusiasm for these type of projects is infectious and keeps people inspired.
I was in the midt of making an external filter until I came across this video. This works almost better than those I buy. So easy and quick to make. Thanks !!!
You should make a whole series on how to "hack" or "modify" existing equipment. Like how to create a diy inlet skimmer attachment for your external filter. Or how to create your own lilypipe type of things
I got your book and a t-shirt a few years ago. Thanks again for the inspection. As of my aquarium everything is DIY about it. The stand, the filter the light's. I got poting soil and cheap sand from Rona, lava rock from outside decoration and branches from the river side. All boiled. My fish tank has been running for a few years. Thanks again. Love to see you are back more often and doing better.
AND a gravel vac... I have filters on everything already but if I have an extra pump then I might as well build this. Never hurts to have too much filtration and this design does just about anything, lol. Love it
The timing of this video couldn't be better. I was going to have a look at a couple of the older videos to make a bottle filter for a tank, and find this first. Thanks, Joey!
Such a simple idea that works love these type of videos and that you have found your spark and seem to be enjoying all that’s going on, continue to do what u enjoy
I'm building your overhead sump using a Powerhead...lava rock and sponge in the window flower box. I love your DIYs. You Rock! I love this hack! I'm going to add it to several of my tanks
My mind is blown and geez yku just saved us all money!!! I was just looking online for filters yesterday Wierd with how you decided to make this video!!😂🤔
Dude I love ur videos. You explain things so much better then other people. Love all ur tanks n the setup. Thanks for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it
I'm glad you've got your passion back. A better place for you and better for us because you get more entertaining and creative. I can't wait to see how you scape your biotypes.
I have been using Joeys DIY filters for years. In fact I have 3 running at the moment. Going to have to get a couple of new pumps. Great to see Joey happy.
It is a little less common to find the two spout filter (in and out) and also to find one with suction cups on it, it might also be possible to put one that only has the pipe outlet into the bottle and put the outlet our through the bottle top. It would need to be a small filter to fit the bottle. This way if would all be contained in the bottle. Just a thought.
Joey, this is the type video that drew me to watch you years ago. Thanks to you I have built the filters on nearly all my tanks. Thanks for the videos.
I took two power heads and bottles with filter floss to clean my koi grow out tank today! I got that trick from your videos about 2 years ago. I already have 2 HOBs converted for bio filtration on that tank as well.
You have Festivum! I love this cichlid. Why they aren't extremely popular i will never know. In 70 years keeping fish, I've only seen them twice, and of course bought them. They are attractive, friendly, and peaceful. Their colors are not bright, but their patterns are interesting, and change with their moods. They are found with angel fish, usually leading the way along the river.
Thank you Joey, I was just about to google how to make cheap filtration systems, when I opened the google app, this vid was right at the top of the feed 😂 Keep up the amazing videos! 👍👍
Been using this style in my tanks since your first video shown me how. I use green and blue water bottles and they blend in better. Everyone that has seen them love them.
🌿🐟 Love it! I 'm going to make this filter just for the fun of it. The skimmer and powerhead-type flow is a great bonus. Love the ease of just changing the filter floss.
I'm so glad I came across your videos. I've been trying some diy ideas myself with our goldfish's bowl cleaning and these plus your other videos are definitely is going to help so I don't keep stressing him out taking him out of his bowl to clean it.
I had unsubscribed a few years ago when I felt you got away from your roots doing stuff like this and were doing some really crazy over the top stuff. I subscribed again. Good luck with your endeavors.
Nice to see you so darn happy. I hope a lot of people take your advice and making their own filters it’s a damn good idea . ( like what else is new right ) 😅. 🤗

This is why I love your channel, always remain humble enough to repurpose old gear ideas and plastic bottles! Why waste
I was wearing my "King DIY" top today, in my local fish shop in the UK. You'll be surprised how many people know who you are. 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I was in the midt of making an external filter until I came across this video. This works almost better than those I buy. So easy and quick to make. Thanks !!!

DIY water flow diffuser you can connect to the outlet of a cannister filter would be a cool one.
this video makes me want to completely rehaul my neglected setups. loving the inexpensive, practical application. thanks!
