Reminds me of the CB radio days of the 70's. I think it was written back then, when people had CB radios in their cars. It was like a stone age version of our cell phones of today.
I'm 58. My favorite Cousin, Diane, back in the 1970's was a little bit older than me so she used to get me alcohol and we hung out a few times and she was always playing Radar Love on her 8 Track Player.in her car. Well, my cousin died shortly thereafter in a Motorcycle accident, and since then, every time I here Radar Love, I think of her. She was so Cool... almost Angelic. Today, Diane's Mother, my Aunt Molly passed away at 88 years old. Aunt Molly was the most religious person that I have ever known, and went to Church most every day for the last 70+ Years to pray for her daughter Diane. Today, I picture their Reunion in Heavern hugging and singing and dancing together to Radar Love. Bless my Cousin Diane and my Aunt Molly in their Reunion in Heaven. I Love You Both!!!
it’s 2024 🎉👍 sittin n my chair slappin my hand on my leg , toe tappin to tha beat thinkin dam if i wasn’t toasted i’d git up an DRIVE like hell somewhere 😎
This is a work of ART. Great song, great album. I had all of their albums but add this orchestra with its incredible artists and this masterpiece of a hit song is work of ART that recognizes the people that gave it to us so long ago. It was always on the radio . And its a time traveler. I can feel myself back in my Camaro 350 4 barrel 4 speed. 120 mph in the turns. I absolutely enjoyed myself listening to this.
I believe his voice was overdubbed...meaning they used his voice from the original recording. If you listen to the original, and come back to this...exactly the same. That's not taking anything away from him, he's an awesome singer with an equally impressive voice and his showmanship his top tiered.
@@ronniepayne9893 definitely not overdubed. There's more rasp being used in his voice here and if you listen closely to the end of hard syllables he is leaving them open throat style, which you do when singing live. Example in studio he the word much was closed down with the ch, if u listen here he pronounces it muh. He is leaving his throat open to get to the correct key but also to the next phrase
@@davidernst1354 ,ok thanks for the lesson. But dosen't it sound exactly like the studio version? ,I'm probably not near as good as you are at picking things up like this, first time I heard this I was blown away at how good he sounded. Then rhe more I listened it sounded or reminded me of what bands did in the 70's,
That's like saying someone looks cooler than they did back in highschool in the 80's you really have nowhere to go but up, lol but yes I agree he does look cooler
I was 13 when this became 'my' song. I'm now in my beautiful 60s. If my family play this at my funeral I swear I'll kick the lid off my coffin and devil gate rock with the best of them.
@Professor Liberal Avenger That's subjective. It's a great song and this live performance is out of this world. Barry Hay being 61 here makes it even more impressive.
One of the best driving songs ever. Hard to believe it was released in 1973. Fabulous arrangement with the vocal and orchestra backups. A little light on the percussion, but that’s ok. Nobody could match Zuiderwijk anyway. Barry’s still got it. Thanks for posting.
I was just 30 when I first heard this song. WOW and now I am 75 listening to him sing this song when the video was posted here on Dec 30, 2010. And sounds just like I heard it back then...
You can tell he doesn't have quite the range he used to have, but damn he still sounds great and I sure hope I can look as good as he when I hit my 60's!
oh yes, yes definitely. To think that these guys, original band and not these young guys here lol. ... most of them are grandfathers LOLOL that's so awesome
I was about 23 when Radar Love came out and it is one of my all time favourites from the 60s and 70s . I wouldn’t give you 2 bob for this version - not a patch on the original .
Not a single song in the current charts can even come close to touching this timeless masterpiece!
I think that could be said about most charts from any era. This song is just that good
One good thing about being 50 😂
Correct man love this rock on ime 73 today bring em on❤
Agree
Truth
The James Bond theme going into radar love sounds so cool.
I’ve always gotten a James Bond feel from the music, not the lyrics but the music itself. Glad I’m not the only one who notices a similarity.
yeah that was so awesomely Great & I still love the top of the pops version .. The Drummer was so cool xxxx
Legendary performance of a legendary song. He still has it! 💯
Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!! Awesome Video!!!!!!! Great Song!!!!!! Takes me way back!!!!!!!!!! Great Memories!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 70!! Still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!!!
One of the best songs in Rock & Roll history. 😍
It’s definitely one of the first go to jams on a road trip
AGREED! Twilight Zone too!

From , 1973 , this classic driving song still has a life.
This guy's voice is quite possibly one of the most rugged and awesome rock n roll voices I've ever heard.

Aw man, I had a 64 impala SS, 4 speed, and this on my 8 track. Best days ever.
I had a 67 impala and a race engine building dad. My brother bought me an 8 track for my 16th bday. Was I a lucky girl or what

Thank You Barry And The Whole Group All The Participant's
One of the CLASSIC'S from my youth, He's still got it and the orchestra just made it sing even bigger.
Classics.
As an English-speaking adult, you should have long ago noticed that an apostrophe is never, ever used in pluralizing a word.
What causes so many of you to highlight your ignorance in look-at-me all caps theatrics?
It can't possibly be a coincidence.
Barry I watched the original today.. you hippie..this is just brilliant ..your performance is ultra!

.., simply brilliant! ;) x
Better than before. His enthusiasm is even greater here as well.

@Professor Liberal Avenger That's subjective. It's a great song and this live performance is out of this world. Barry Hay being 61 here makes it even more impressive.

By the look in your profile picture I don't think so
Age Does That W/Singers Burn-Out
Him & Ann Wison of Heart still sound GREAT !!
Love the hell out of those DRUMS!!!!!!!
Those synth drums sound like cardboard boxes, Zuiderwijk would never play such plastic trigger pads,
He is still great singer after all these years time didn't slow him down looks are great too very handsome
What a show man.
Absolutely, outstandingly, wonderfully perfect...!
Another elliptical workout version; AWESOME SAUCE !🤙😎✌
Starts like a Bond MOvie.. schucks! Barry drives this beyond expectation..the boy can SING!
Great base it is addictive and the vocals are wow
He changes base from green in the start more soft sound, then a red one more slappy sound.
He's still got it and plenty of it.
Fantastic!! First band I ever saw live. Warmed up for BTO in 74 or 75 in Charleston, WV.
Yup that Barry hay has gotten better with age
Whenever this song comes on the radio, I'm glad my Chevrolet Impala has cruise control. I crank up the volume and sing along. Best driving song EVER!!
45 hundred times is the best song of status quo ever
God he looks and sounds fantastic
Probably the best song of 70s
