This was my first wiring project, and this video was fantastic in showing all the steps. Thank you for your explanations - I got it to work my first try using just your video!
please put a disclaimer in the comments or amend your video to comment on your error for connecting the common wire to the red wire of the lutron switch (the common wire should have been on the black). it is very confusing for folks who are following this video step by step!
Damn did not know you can do that I thought the only way to make a 3 way caseta switch is with a wireless switch on one side and a hotwired switch on the other
Great video. I had a lot of problems getting this switch working on the same config as you are showing. Nice job on walking through it!!! I have one 3 and way cassette switch that doesnt quite work right the Lutron switch works but if the rocker switch on the other side of the stairs is off the upper Lutron is not getting power, must have one of the wires swapped incorrectly, just not sure on how to figure out which one. (Did not this install before finding your video)
@@larrykrueger8948 I have the same issue right now, I’ve heard it’s because the smart switch reads thru the light bulb. I’m tryna contact Lutron right now
Can 2 Caseta Wireless Switches be used in a 3-way? I’m having problems with this type of setup. One works like a master, if that one is on, then the other one works. If the master is off, then the other won’t work at all.
@@steevydance I solved the problem. I used one smart switch, one dumb switch, because 2 smart switches is redundant. I downloaded instructions from the internet, look at the wiring schematic very carefully is all i can say.
always test your wires and never match colors learn what is hot and neutral then look at the instructions of the company and see what the color for hot ,ground (green) neutral, now at my house my yellow was my hot, my orange was my neutral and for my other very old house, my white was my neutral and my black was my hot.Now you see how a person can screw up.THe tool i use is a klein Klein Tools NCVT3P Dual Range Non Contact Voltage Tester, 12 - 1000V AC Pen and my second test is my multimeter . i use two tools to be safe .
@@GeekSmart I think it is not a good idea to rely on these for a new construction. It is great it you have a single switch in an existing house and you want to have 3 or 4 way. But a new construction house should be wired as if these switches don’t exist.
@@lucassanto9565 I thought the switches communicate thru the network but i did more research after this comment. They work without being connected to a network as a manual switch.
Awesome video 2 years later and still relevant 💪🏾🙌🏾🔥 Thank You 😊

Helped a ton. Building a house and this was super helpful
Very helpfully, thank you!

I have same setup and problem. I have given up on trouble chasing the fix.

Did u video the fan and light in bedroom install?
Why did you choose to use a rocker switch vs Pico remote?
Probably because the pico remote is 25.00 and the mount bracket in another 20.00 and a rocker switch is 2.00

So what happens if you loose internet?
Still works locally, just can't connect remotely.

No instructions in video description.
Why not just buy a pico remote and use it instead of the second switch.?...
It’s better to use a hotwired 3 way switch instead of the battery in the wireless switch dying
It already exists so It’s cheaper. Why waste money on a pico if you don’t need to dim at the other switch?
Your explanations are kinda bad… I wish the company would put out a video for all the various configurations… No neutral wire, blue wire, Ahhhhhhh.
Lutron has a very detailed video on UA-cam for all methods of connecting the 3-way switch.
How about make a video without the mistakes first
This video is a hot mess. Why make a video that just confuses things even more.
Too long, condense your video.
