The BEST horn group on the planet.
Next to Brass Construction.
@@lblake5653 Who???????
As Jimi Hendrix said, the horn section is like one lung , so well put ...
Blood sweat and tears exsist
Yep!
I didn't like Jason Scheff at first, but he really grew on me. What a voice! Thanks for all the years of rocking out Jason!
I'll second that!
I Miss Jason!!❤😢
I didn't either, but for selfish reasons. I didn't want to accept the fact that the original band was no longer together. But having learned more about him, he's a great human being and a talented musician and vocalist. I appreciate his contributions in keeping the legacy alive.
His dad Jerry was the bass player for Elvis
@@terrybangley2281 Also Elvis Costello, And Roy Orbison.
How on earth could Chicago let Jason slip away? He is without a doubt the best tenor!
Asking myself the same question . The best and perfect fit since Cetera left Chicago .
Absolutely, and what a bassist!
He is struggling on this song
Cetera himself said he thought "Questions 67 & 68" and "25 or 6 to 4" were always too high to sing.
@Tom Maras Least he's not lip syncing through the song. Lol 😆
Chicago's best song in some ways. Short, compact, simple concept, with smashing bridge. Never get tired of it.
Probably my favorite Chicago chart.
Still sounding great, and Robert Lamm is 71 years old!
Grey hair shampoo works wonders. He still wants to sleep his fans.
Looks great !
One of the all-time great Chicago tunes. Well done!
This made me tear up. Thank you for decades of beautiful and important music!
Wow, I feel you...my wife and I just saw Chicago live at Mountain Winery in Calistoga, CA and I'm 58 and grew up on Chicago and many other great bands, but when they played this I just started crying. Music is such a blessing to the soul. Thanks for sharing.
Jason Scheff, you just shine Mister!!
That's backbone to Chicago: The Horn Section!! LOVE the RIFF every time this song is played!!
My favorite Chicago song. Jason does a great job on it - and the horns, wow, as good as ever.
James, Lee and Robert: It's inspiring to see you still performing. I hope it's keeping you young.
The guitarist has a killer tone! Love it!
holy shit this guys got an amazing range
Absolutely! Anyone who says Jason doesn't have the range to sing the songs like he used to needs to listen to him do Questions 67 & 68. And for those who are unaware, this is performed in the ORIGINAL key that Peter sang it in 1969. Chicago re-recorded this and many of their hits (from Peter's era) for "Chicago XXXV: The Nashville Sessions" all in the same key, arrangement, tempo, and nearly note for note as the original recordings. Questions 67 & 68 is the stand-out recording on that album, in my opinion, largely due to Jason's vocals.
Shit I thought you were talking about Lee
@@3rdRockRider That's why I say, that Jason has pretty much a pretty wide range as Peter has, if not exactly the same range, at least is very very close, and this song fits Jason's voice perfectly, this is the proof. Jason covers those high vocals pretty well and his voice doesn't sounds bad or weak at all. Other occasion Jason in which performed this song was at the Night & Day concert tour they did and the show was in Japan in December 1995. That time, he sang this song in japanese, but man, what a range and how strong his voice sounded, so high and full of strenght and energy. He was 33 at the time, and was so happy, recently married!! 😀 A lot of enthusiasm he had. Surely it helped a little with the song's delivery!!
Jesus this band is STILL GREAT after all these years! My old metal band here in Vegas, we used 25 or 6 to 4. I'm bass so most times played I sang it! I took for granted how talented Peter truly is!;) Voice of an angel that Cetera! Lest we forget Scheff who had to sing those HIGH tenor.
Jason Scheff was incredibly underrated by many longtime Chicago fans. I wish he was still with the band.
This song, like so many other Chicago songs are brass centered. So, while I certainly miss Terry Kath, IMHO, as long as Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Lee Loughnine are present, the song still rocks.
Shit what happened to Walt?
None of Chicago's songs actually sounds "brass centered". They use the horns in just the right way: they don't dominate the song or crowd out the rest of the band. The horns seem like near-perfect ornamentation or augmentation to great songwriting.
@@andykrew336 Semi retired..Still plays some gigs...
@@andykrew336 From Wikipedia
"A member of Chicago from its inception, Parazaider continued to tour extensively with the band until his retirement from touring in 2017 due to a heart condition"
@@andykrew336 Also from Wikipedia.
"In April 2021, Parazaider announced that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease"
Very devastating news.
Lee and James still have it going on. GREAT talent and dedication.
ahhhh, warm summer day, early 70's on a Saturday afternoon. Sitting around with family and friends, and always seemed we were listening to Chicago for at least 5 hours of the day. Thanks for this interview!! Can't wait to see the full show!
Great chemistry! That horn section rocks!
Jason has already been with Chicago for 31 years, meanwhile Peter has been with them for only 18 years and besides that, he doesn't even want a ONE DAY reunion with them. What a wuss, I'm going for Jason this time.
Same here. !
Trumpet riff as only Lee can play it!!!!!!! Great job Jason!!!!!! Fantastic performance!!!!!!!!
...indeed !!!
Tears flow and the heart is moved ! Memories flood our 60’s and 70s were the BEST
Brilliant... Passionate...World Class...wow...! This 50 year old song still amazes....!!!
I love Jason’s voice and this line up is just incredible!
I totally agree! This song suits him well. Only Peter Cetera at his prime could hit these high notes.
@@PragueImport That's the best I've ever heard Jason sing.
Kyle Williams Yeah he’s great! Jason who? In trying to learn everyone who has played in Chicago, I feel like I’m taking AP US History there’s so many lol.
I think the vocalist should NOT be singing this song. Wanna here it done great? Leonid and friends, their vocalist is AWESOME
@@johnnoack1459 I would say Jason sounds better than the Russian dude's, but they both do a fine job of it.
Withought question(no pun intended..lol), the greatest and most underrated Chicago song of them all. Most casual peeps who if you ask them what's your favorite Chicago song will never mention this classic unless you a diehard like myself and others. This song has it all...just love love it.
There is no other band that I can say I like every single song they play.
america's band....super song...amazing horns!
Never tire of this song. I love Chicago
Robert Lamm has always been my favorite. The oldie but goodie. 7/2022.
That guys voice kicks baby!
Robert Lamm's voice is smoother now than back in the 70's. Amazing Song.
I agree 100%
Absolutely, Debra! And he always looks so HAPPY performing - even during this summer's (2021) US concert tour - it's infectious! Robert has always been my favorite member of Chicago - love him!
Isn't that Peter Cetera? I guess not. I guess it's Lamm. That's the same Lamm that was married to Karen Lamm, Dennis Wilsons wife, right?
@@dizbrainanew Hey Lori! Cetera left the group around 1985 to take on a solo career. Sadly, despite them all being close from the beginning and through the '70s, Cetera becoming the face of the band in the '80s during the David Foster / power ballad era where he did all the lead vocals unfortunately wore down his relationships with the other members because Chicago was always a band where every member was the star - or, you can say, NO ONE was the star (hence, very few albums where there was a photo of them!).
The fellow doing most of the singing in this video is Jason Scheff, who's singing Cetera's part and is someone I feel was an excellent replacement for Cetera, was with the band for 25 years, but left I think in 2018 (not necessarily his choice tho). There's another guy with the band now in his place, Neil Donell.
Robert is the one playing the keyboards and who's doing the responses to Jason's singing - he's a bit older than Jason and giving a big smile when he sings (probably because he wrote the song!). He's has been with the band since the beginning and never left. And, yes, his first wife was Karen, but they were only married a year, 1970-71, and she went on to other people, yes.
@@broddybounce thank you. You wowed me with that...I appreciate it. cool stuff/and yes, Scheff does do Cetara's absence a great service. ;) I do prefer Lamms voice a bit over Scheff's. Maybe because I was used to hearing his more. Thanks again. Have always loved Chicago. They were my first concert at 11 yrs old. Saw them at the Reading Philly's stadium along with Earth Wind and Fire. Horns give me chills, but strings are my favorite kind of goosebumps. Wait. actually I might have been only 9, now that I think about it more. Doesn't really matter, except for the fact that they made (along with EW&F) a big impression on me.
This guitarist very well nailed the Terry Kath guitar parts and that is no easy task.
Trey Imboden always looks so happy. It's a shame he left/retired.
To me the mark of a great band is they are instantly recognizable. Chicago has that in abundance.
It does not get BETTER THAN THIS. Good God in Heaven!
Morcaiden
.
Peter's soaring vocals on the original are what made this in addition to the music but that goes without saying
The horns are such a huge part of Chicago's sound, doesn't really matter who is playing and singing the other parts. Except for Terry of course.
I read the comment to the tune of this song.
Isn't that wonderful -- after 40-50 years at it!
Great song! Robert Lamm wrote this song back in the day.
Man I remember growing up as a kid in the 70's and always thought their music sounded cool as hell with those horns. Awesome.
Not a band bigger than "Chicago" uniquely uncontested
Saw them last night in Jacksonville FL and they still sound so great! They did this tune too!
Jason is the son of the bass player Elvis used in the latter touring years of his career.
Saw em with the original line up & wow they were something live. Of course horn bands were still something new to us old rockers. Kath's work always blew me away & Cetera in those day was rock solid on bass & vocals. Springer Ballroom somewhere around or in Portland Or. They're still sounding good.
Chicago still sounding great in 2016 :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!!
This was CHICAGOs first single ever sung by Peter Cetera. Written by Lamm.
I’ve missed all their concerts.. Now i just got done downloaded all their songs and listening to it everyday!! What a music back then old peeps still rock 🎧🎼🎹🥁🎷🎸🎺🎤
BRAVO Men of Chicago
Old good Chicago rocks! Thanks for sharing
Wow, perfect work, simply Chicago the band!
Singer is outstanding
Chicago is the GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful music, songs and musicians. Songs that last for a lifetime and forever more!
Still sounding amazing....horns are heavenly!
what a great band Chicago is I dig the trumpet and the voice of the lead singer guitar man rocks as well 100% original sound
simply terrific, The Chicago Transit Authority
Instantly takes me back to high school!
My favorite band for life. I saw you live in Charlotte in the early 1970's... best band ever; The bands I played in covered a lot of your songs, just because !
Jason is hitting a high c in the verse casually.... just if you guys were wondering.
Going thru all of the Chicago songs, and forgot about this one. What the hell is wrong with me!!! These songs bring tears to my eyes. You play them over and over again, and you never get tired of them.
Damn this was so good it brought tears to my eyes.
One of my favorites in my youth. and actually.
excellent bassist, wow
Boy, when I was a kid we only had the radio and I thought the horn section was an orchestra. Amazing sound! The last time I saw them was in H-town around 2006 -07, sitting on the grass at Cynthia Woods. Leaned back on the grass, closed my eyes and was transported back to 5th grade. Fabulous!
Love love love Lee! Amazing playing ❤️❤️❤️😉💚💚💚💚💛💛💛💛
Chicago, as good as ever. Brings back Great memories when They (& I) were young & free back in the early 70's!
Saw them 4th of july at the Hollywood..,great concert. This was my favorite of the night.
Chicago--55+ years and still going strong. Keep rocking, guys, and THANK YOU for the great music.
Definitivamente un grupo con una verdadera trayectoria musical EXCELENTE!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh . The American gist of question of 67' 68 . You're still feeling it guys !
That was incredible ... nuff said
Great interview and still a great sound after all these years! This was finally worth spending the money for Direct TV this month.
Hey Everybody!! You have to check out these boys from Ukraine play CHICAGO!! Their name is Leonid & Friends/BAAAD DUDES!!
That Russian band is fantastic!
Yes I did, they are fantastic; the best cover group ive ever seen, and yes,,,,,!,,,,,,!!! You have chek it
yea they're real good
yes they are good
They are NOT RUSSIAN they are from Ukraine
Best song of Chicago because contains all we need: good music, originality, difficult e breath! You must consider that , in 1966, hear a band like CHICAGO, has been like an hearthquake...in no one band there were musicians at this level!
2016 was a good year for Chicago. The singers and musicians are all right on. I enjoy this almost as much as the 1970's version when they were in a studio above some whacky dancers.
This is amazing, they sound great❤❤❤❤❤🎺🎺🎺🎺🎷🎷🎷🎷🎸🎙🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶❤❤❤❤❤
I love Chicago, they always have a fun time playing together and it shows through the music.
Can this feeling that we have together
Ooh, suddenly exist between
Did this meeting of our minds together
Ooh, happen just today, somewhere
I'd like to know,
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing, well, yeah, yeah
Was your image in my mind so deeply, ooh
Ooh, other faces fade away
Blocking memories of unhappy hours
Ooh, leavin' just a burnin' love
I'd like to know
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing
Yes it does now, baby
Can this lovin' we have found within us
Ooh, suddenly exist between
Did we somehow try to make it happen
Ooh, was it just a natural thing
I'd like to know
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing
Yes it does now, baby

Sounds just as good as the first time I heard them back in I think it was '68 as Chicago Transit Authority.
De la folie et de la joie de retrouver ce morceau que j' adore de Chicago !!!!!! Ouhhhhhhhhhhh lala !!!!!
Glad to see Chicago still playing their great old tunes, but they were never the same after the death of Terry Kath. He was the heart and soul of this band and his death was devastating. The man that Jimi Hendrix said was a better guitarist than him. Hendrix was known for his humility, but an amazing compliment, nonetheless.
+Ran Stillman But life goes on.
I read a print interview some years ago, not with Hendrix but with someone who had known him well, and that person was asked, "What bands did Jimi like?" And the response was, "He liked Chicago. He loved their guitarist, Terry." I also read somewhere that Jimi had heard a very early performance by ZZ Top and he also complimented Billy Gibbons.
So true!
Agreed
@@henryedwards4116 but chicago became a Pop band instead of the rock band they had been !
Yes indeed, this was my childhood.....
In my younger days I was never a Chicago fan, but after discovering the brilliance of Terry Kath and the incredible brass arrangements, I’ve become a fan and even like the newest version of the band.
This is amazing
Jason does a great job on this one.
This is amazing!
Chicago caught my ear in the 70s............. Transit Authority.............. I'm A Man...........they are still in my ear.... and will be into the next life................ best band ever for my time in this world, thanks
IMO, this is one of the 3 best Chicago songs ever
Perfect Chicago tune, Changes styles, keys, tempos, and dynamics. I'm not sure we'll ever really appreciate this... With a sus 3 on the end.
Roberts such an icon- the one line(( just doesn't matter any how)) is like royalty everybody listen hes up again--- you can tell i bet the band messes with him about it too-- i will say i absolutely enjoy this guitarist hes so chicago- hes not terry but what a great sound and so tasteful- seriously some of the best of music and still playing- god bless them and true to what they do-
Wow!! A lot of new faces. Have no clue who they are. But certainly glad to see the one's we know and are used to. Rock on!
FABULOUS Performance.
That was just so freaking great!
So so so good
Obra maestra de Chicago de los 70s un clásico en México....
Their sound live is unbelievable still to this day☝️🥰💯
THANKS.....
That green bass is beautiful!
This is one of my favorites and Jason nails it. I feel I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention he’s also a great bass player.
Otra joya del grupo Chicago
