You think of the hours of practice it took to get such precision (by all the band members), these are just incredible achievements Leonid & Friends make time and time again.
Other worldly, as in there is a touch of heaven here. God is very big and His tastes are also. I can see Him in the original songs. Even though most are about romantic love. This to me is why Chicago lost its "Chicago" feel. Jason Scheff is a great bass player ( stupendous bass player) but he and Danny were never locked in the way Jason and Tris became. And that rhythm section is awesome, but it is not the same feel as Cetera/Seraphine. Both great-but both VERY different!

@@zagfan44 You and me both, and my sentiments exactly. Go see them when you can (we did in July, 2019), they are a great act, you won't be disappointed! :)
Part of that has to do with modern recording equipment and techniques. (They actually use some of the same microphones though.) The musical performances are nearly identical to Chicago's original, but each instrument and voice is recorded and processed to maximize all of its dynamics, which was not possible in the early 70s, when things were limited by magnetic tape, track bouncing, track sharing, and prevailing recording customs of the day. A mix could be cleaned up and mastered, but today all that work can be done easily to each track, and each track can handle a MUCH wider range of dynamics (that's the difference between the softest sound you can hear above the background hiss and the loudest sound you can get before distortion). The net effect is a massive boost in clarity of every subtlety in the recording. IMO, it's a real treat to hear what Chicago might have sounded like if they had recorded in one of today's modern studios!
Ahahaha. I’m 64. And I can say the exact the same thing. I was in Jr. High when this was released . Then, I understood about 19% of the lyrics of this song which happens to be one of my favorite Chicago tunes of all time. I knew it was entitled “Question 67 & 68”….thanks to the ending lyrics and the DJs announcing the record, but the rest of this lovely song with that sizzling Serofim drum intro and Kath’s polar hot guitar insert, could’ve been sung in Romanian for all I knew. Well, 50-plus years later (jeez that was tough to type) I now know it was recorded in English, I loved this song. Still do. Terrific cover, Leo & company.
One of the most important elements of the live Chicago experience is the playfulness of the horn section during the show. Its a vital element and these guys have nailed that part as well.
Just sync'ed this with the original. You simply can't cover a song any better. These guys are totally off the charts awesome. That kid on the guitar is world class. Heck, they all are!
Serge Tiagniryadno has just the right sound to reproduce Peter Cetera's vocals. Not a cheap copy, but a faithful reproduction with his own flair. Nicely done! Sergey Kashirin kills it playing Kath's riffs. And the horn line!
Absolutely. Those notes he's hitting at the top of the range "to - GE -ther" are the infamous "high C" that's the benchmark for operatic tenors (Pavarotti was nicknamed the "king of the high Cs", and Meat Loaf brags about the high Cs he hits at the climax to "Bat Out Of Hell"). And Serge hits 'em like he could go several full tones higher without breaking a sweat!
I have listened to this several times and there are absolutely no flaws. These guys are Professionals. Danny Seraphine Chicago’s legendary Rock and Roll hall of fame drummer was only 21 years old when they laid this track down. Amazing!
As a former pianist and saxophonist who played in a number of bands that played the music of Chicago, these guys are simply amazing! I'd give anything to relive that thrill again with Leonid and Friends! Simply astounding musicians!
Well, the song is a bit confusing. But the accuracy of this recording is outstanding, as is the band. Great horns, great lead guitar (he's a freak), and a drummer that nails every smash. There's nothing about this video that I don't like. Well done, fellas.
Yes, particularly back in their early days some music critics dogged Chicago for their at times awkward lyrics, and this song is a good example. The words are a little convoluted and opaque, but ultimately the song works. IMO the arrangement, instrumentals, and overall execution make up for the clumsy words. The lyrical awkwardness may have had something to do with why it went nowhere on the charts (peaked at #71 on Billboard Hot 100) when originally released as a single ('69). However, it did much better (#24) when re-mixed and re-released a couple of years later ('71) after Chicago had begun to establish themselves as a brand and people were hungry for more of their material.
Born and raised in Chicago, grew up listening to Chicago, my Auntie knew the band, I never realized the musical genius and virtuosity of this band until I discovered these videos and rediscovered the love my generation has for Chicago’s music. I’m in awe of how closely these musicians can reproduce Chicago’s music. Music crosses all ethnicities, boundaries, political and geographical; these wonderful musicians are a true testament to that. Thank you for sharing your talent and love for my hometown band Chicago!
I discovered this group in 2017 and I've been hooked ever since. It's always a rabbit hole I enter when I watch their videos. They are just as good live as in studio. I've see them live 5 times and each show just oozes good vibes and joy!!
WOW! WOW! WOW! This is surreal! I have never been this wowed by anything close to this. I loved Chicago back in the day and loved seeing them in concert. The version of the band today is nothing more than a cover. These guys are as close to the real thing. The younger generation take note. This is what music was like. The universal language of music allows us to enjoy great music. Russian or not, who cares. The universal language of great music will united all.
Saw this Band in concert here in Myrtle Beach South Carolina Early earlier this year. They are so tight and so good it is absolutely incredible to see them live
Love the way the trumpet player hits some high notes during the instrumental bridge that were not in the original. They add a dimension of intensity and energy. This is a great song extremely well done. Chicago should be proud to have originated and produced such wonderful music.
You heard that too? These guys really are topping the original... but mind you I will always love the original Chicago, BS&T and EW&F. But these guys bring something that amazes me every time I listen... and watch!!! How fun it is too watch all the performance of recording and the live shows. WOW!!!
I saw lenoid and friends in Plymouth Ma. on 9/11 2021 I was honored by them singing my national anthem at the end of the show, they brought tears to people's eyes
I had two older brothers who were horn players during the heyday of Chicago. Damn, this brings me back to those days. I listened to Chicago so many afternoons as a young lad. Thank you for letting me walk back through time.
My younger brother used to bring two of his fellow horn players to the house and the three of them would rock their horns to Chicago, album after album. Absolutely LOVE these covers of one of the best bands of both my childhood and adulthood. I've seen Chicago live. I'd pay to see them again but I'd also pay to see Leonid & Friends. Somehow, this has got to happen.
The first Chicago Transit Authority song I ever heard, and you guys are so spot on you make it sound as fresh and vivid as it did in 1969. Thank you for keeping this great music alive for us Chicago fans and for the newer generations to discover and experience. Well done. Congratulations to each and every member of this wonderful band.
Yet another perfect cover. no one ever comes close to capturing the energy and groove of the Chicago recording and yet you guys are perfect. Just awesome
Leonid, to me, you have achieved the impossible by putting a band together capable of recreating the Chicago sound. I love them, I love you guys equally as much. Thank you for the happiness you guys give me.
What can I say? I've watched several of your videos and was floored each time. It's not just about the musical perfection (though that is there also and it's awesome). It's the feeling, the joy, the wonder of taking your audience on a trip in the time machine and capturing the spirit of the era, and all of that just for the kicks without seeing a single dollar. You guys are awesome. Reminds of when I started playing back in the 60's. We would do anything, go anywhere just to get a gig, just for the raving fun of it. Special mention and compliments to Serge on an outstanding vocal performance (how the hell does he reach those high notes and hit'm so perfectly?) Leonid, many in the comments are begging for a US tour. I daresay, it should be WORLD tour. Europe, South America, Australia. I live in Brazil Your performance would be knock-out here with all that percussion. Hope it comes together. I'll be sitting on the front row if it does.
Leonid, I listened to Chicago during my teens - the time of life when one's musical tastes are cemented into place. I know this song so well, like it was imprinted on my soul. The way you have recreated it with your Friends, the recording technique, your mastering, and the energy brought into every moment... my eyes get wet and my throat gets tight, and life is beautiful all over again. I cannot find the words to express my appreciation and gratitude. Thank you to all of you, from a new fan in the USA.
My sentiments exactly. Now, when you have the chance, go see them in concert (like I saw the real Chicago in the 70's). I saw them in July, 2019, they are every bit as good as you hear them on this video. It is well worth it! :)
Chicago's first few albums were pre-teen for me (growing up in Chicagoland), but somehow I never heard this song until maybe college, about 10 years after it was released! As a result, this joyous, energetic classic holds a very special place in my heart, and I'm thrilled Leonid's group covered it (so precisely).
How to support? With a boat load of money! They are professionals and need to be paid for their great work! When will America toss aside the hip hop/rap shit for REAL music???
I'll probably get in trouble for this, but there are technical aspects that seem superior to Chicago, anyway, love you all, thank you, no better tribute, but one request Leonid? Perhaps photos and a short bio of each of the members on your Facebook page? I think we'd all like that, to better connect with our favorite band and it's members!
occasionally I can detect an accent in the vocals. Doesn't matter though. Have never heard a band this good that also covers a great band this well. This is perfection in a live/studio environment. Unmatched by any cover band of any sort.
This is as good as Chicago can be in 2018, sadly it is not as it was.... not that it's less, it is not less in any way.. but some are no longer with us. There can be only one. CHICAGO forever!!!!
I cannot imagine receiving a better Christmas present than this beautiful and perfectly performed "Leonid & Friends" rendition of this classic Chicago song. Thanks to ALL OF YOU, and Happy Holidays!

These guys NEED to tour the US.
AGREED!
They do a good job with the original song .
Indeed
First they need to tour the WORLD then maybe drop in on the US :-)
I TOTALLY AGREE......WHO ARE THESE GUYS.....I AM A BIG FAN OF CHCAGO/EW&F....I WOULD NOT MISS IF THEY TOUR THE USA.....
Horn section sends chills down my spine! Outstanding ❤️❤️
This is Chicago But Polished.Chicago at The Next level. Chicago With Perfection, Any Questions??
Serge Tiagniryadno has just the right sound to reproduce Peter Cetera's vocals. Not a cheap copy, but a faithful reproduction with his own flair. Nicely done!
Sergey Kashirin kills it playing Kath's riffs. And the horn line!
Everytime😁👍
And Igor on drums tops 'em all. (been a drummer for 38 yrs.)
Yes, And still he's got his own.
I cannot say enough good things about this band. It's like the skies opened up and the rock and roll God's smiled down upon them
I feel like a mysterious stranger found this song for me, and identified its name. Whoever you are, thank you.
Omg! I didn't know it was even possible to do! MUCH respect!!!
Can't wait for a Leonid & Friends World Tour!!!
I'd love to see them in a small club where the horns fill the place. Like CTA did at the Whiskey...
Mark Habeck i would go for sure!!
I need to renew my passport and just go there. It would be worth it.
Eddie Melikian Me too. Especially given tge fact i am a Kievborn
No but Chicago new tour
My God! Wow! Is this for real? The Return of Chicago, Russian Style! I guess you guys may know that you are the #1 Tribute Band in the World.
I have listened to this several times and there are absolutely no flaws. These guys are Professionals. Danny Seraphine Chicago’s legendary Rock and Roll hall of fame drummer was only 21 years old when they laid this track down. Amazing!
So very beautiful ❤ Serge we love and miss your smiling face n beautiful voice❤❤❤❤❤
Can’t wait to see Leonid and Friends this your of 2024✨🌹🔥🔥🌹✨✨🌹
These early songs are my favorite!
This reminds me of the Chicago I saw at the first Toronto Pop Festival in June 1969. I would see Leonid's band anytime.
our new favorite cover band. Every musician is a monster ! Best Terry Kath solos since the man himself.
Greetings from Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Your music is pure joy. You not only perform, but one can see the fun you all have in doing so. AHOE MY BROTHERS
The talent and the passion these musicians devote to these Chicago songs is a living testament to how great the original music is.
Igor you're the man!
Yes!
My favorite Chicago song. The bridge is my favorite part! THE NAILED IT!❤
I discovered this group in 2017 and I've been hooked ever since.
I'd go see this band every weekend if I could. I saw them in Los Angeles and it was the best concert experience I ever had.
Saw this Band in concert here in Myrtle Beach South Carolina Early earlier this year. They are so tight and so good it is absolutely incredible to see them live
Agreed100 saw them last night and they were out of this world entertaining and talented
WOW!!!
The trumpet was incredible on this tune. Absolutely pure!!!
Qu'est-ce qu'il est agréable de vous regarder jouer ces si beaux morceaux de musique ! Merci mille fois et longue vie à vous. ❤
Wow, just Wow. Total Chicagoholic here. I can’t stop watching these guys. Bravo
How could anyone dislike this? This is amazing
I love this lead vocalists interpretation of this song. This is one of the best music playlists on UA-cam!
How do they get to sound soooo much like them !! Vocaly as well, wow i cant stop listening, its a real pleasure
I hope this incredible band will come to America.
Yet another perfect cover. no one ever comes close to capturing the energy and groove of the Chicago recording and yet you guys are perfect. Just awesome
WOW. Hard to sing and play this classic. Singers and horns crushed it. Sergey is the most talented a singer and guitarist as I have ever heard.
Beautiful voices ❤
A tribute to one of the greatest cover bands in the world. Or, to be more accurate, a great band, without qualification. Terrific.
S I M P L Y Incredible, perfection !!
Yet another kick ass Chicago cover! And your guitarist continues to amaze me. Great job!
Agreed. This one was especially great for him, wasn't it?!?!!!!
agreed. man can he play.
if you haven't already heard their version of 25 or 6 to 4, he really tears it up on that one too.
Sergey is a guitar god. He should be a household name. Terry Kath is smiling ear to ear.
^^ Exactly!!
Leonid, to me, you have achieved the impossible by putting a band together capable of recreating the Chicago sound. I love them, I love you guys equally as much. Thank you for the happiness you guys give me.
44 second introduction. Chicago songs are amazing.
What’s really amazing is that the lead singer was in a different studio in a different city, and they mixed him in. Phenomenal job of sound editing.
Greetings from the desert, found within Arizona. one word only. WHOA !!!!!!!!!
What a great 63rd birthday present for me! Amazing as always. All of you.
To say that these musicians are good is almost an impertinence, they are galactic, the crème de la crème in their field, incomparable...
ha ha, too good ! The better song I heard since long time. Thanks L&F !
This music played by these guys is the solution to world peace. Awesome!!!!!!!
has anyone thought that if you listen to this band with all the energy & perfection - it stays with you all night?
I always love the brass section intro just before the first verse
How the F do 40 people give that a thumbs down. Music, Horns and Vocals were spot on!!! One of my favs for 40 years.
DA!
Another fantastic cover. Terry would have been proud. Serge is terrific. PLEASE KEEP THESE COMING. Let us know how we can support that.
How to support? With a boat load of money! They are professionals and need to be paid for their great work! When will America toss aside the hip hop/rap shit for REAL music???
Goddamn, that Sergey can wail on the guitar. As does everyone else, but he gives these songs extra muscle!
Miss Serge's voice. What killer vocals!
Amazing group of talent who have reacquainted Chicago fans with some of the greatest music ever produced! Thank You!
Hang in there John. We've got something planned that I'm sure you will enjoy!
SUPERIOR? maybe in 2018, but back in the day? Remember they wrote the music!
occasionally I can detect an accent in the vocals.
I will buy tickets when they tour USA!
Боже мой!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!
Just an absolute delicious feast of talent served up every . . . single . . . time! Musical royalty!
So Perfect! Serge T & Sergey Kashirin add such great talent and energy to the band! Loved listening❤️
I cannot imagine receiving a better Christmas present than this beautiful and perfectly performed "Leonid & Friends" rendition of this classic Chicago song. Thanks to ALL OF YOU, and Happy Holidays!
