The boat has Yanmar Diesel engines (see approx at time 2:34). The solar/electric/batteries refers to the house electrics not needing a 230v diesel generator to run the ship systems like refrigeration and lighting etc when at anchor.
When It comes to engines, I am a huge fan of the I6. I am greatly saddened that the I6 engine is not as common as I would like. In accordance to my engine preference, I think the stock engines are perfect.

Solar/electric/batteries are too expensive. Yes they are quiet and convenient but don’t have the range. I prefer the new MERCURY V12’s.
At US$77,000 for each MERCURY V12 plus the high fuel consumption, you call the solar/electric/batteries expensive 😎
