I am right with you Rose.. it's the world that will never come back, charm and beauty... he had so much talent and sweetness, that smile could brighten up the dark room. I still know of few old world artists like him who try to keep tradition alive and al 3 are friends with beautiful smiles and charisma. One is a singer, one is a pianist and one is a ballet dancer.
Beautiful blending of several typical Parisian popular songs reminding me of the "joy of living" and loving in Paris. Thank you Liberace for giving us that pleasure of feeling "love is in the air" and flirting and romance is one beautiful girl away when in the mood.
this is Lee at 50 before the surgeons took his boyish looks and infectious smile and operated him while they were high. I admit I get angry when I think about it.
Liberace always played a baldwin, but this concert grand has some fancy inlay instead of a brand. I wonder if he had a falling out with baldwin in 1969?
Liberace had a gentleman's agreement with Baldwin. Whenever a Baldwin wasn't available, the name had to be covered especially for his television appearances.
The question is more, were there any females that were allowed to further their piano careers? And the answer to that is no. Mozart actually had a sister who was said to be an even better player than he was but their father married her off to an older man and ensured that she could not have access to a piano or paper and when the time came and she had a son she couldn't even teach him to play and she had to send him to mozart to learn. Alicia keys is good but when she plays anything she receives more criticism than even Liberace which is saying something. Same with female artists is the renaissance era. I'm not being a crazy feminist or trying to attack you, just trying to answer your question and maybe teach you a new fact about mozart. It's just.... Women have only recently been able to have freedom in choosing what they want to do and even that has backfired for us..
Actually, I think JoAnn Castle plays very much in Liberace's style. I admit I have no idea if she plays any classical music but she was probably taught it while learning to play.
Fantastic, Liberace was the greatest pianist ever
What a showman. He's the best at what he does.

I have often wondered what female piano player could equal Liberace's talent? If there is any.

There were a few. Yuja Wang, Kristina Miller, Martha Argerich, and that's modern era, not counting romantic era female pianists.
No doubt he was a performer, but he also infected at least 2 people with aids. Sad to say the least
