I bought a 2020 red Mazda 6 a few weeks ago. Here's my review so far. Exterior: Absolutely gorgeous. The soul red color is as sharp and shiny as you'll find. The car is so underpriced if you're basing it on appearance. It's such a stylish car, nice and shapely. One issue is the paint is EXTREMELY expensive. I accidentally scraped a pole (first time in my life) just a few days after buying the car. Small scrape cost me about $1,000. The paint job requires a three-part process. So understand that before you buy the car. Interior: It's a nice interior. It's roomy in the front but a bit crammed in the back, but still roomier than my Honda Civic I just traded in. The car has your standard features but some helpful safety features that are great. If you're signalling to turn and a car is pulling up next to you, you'll hear a warning beep. I like that. I know that the Civic is a compact car, so it's kinda unfair to compare it to a mid-size like a Mazda 6. But that's what I previously drove so that's why I compare it. The Civic has great gas mileage but isn't that comfortable to drive and has no power. The Mazda 6 has a pretty powerful engine and is a fun car to drive. I got the 7-year, 120,000 mile warranty, which cost about $40/month. Pro tip: tell the finance guy you're not sure if you want the extended warranty. He'll offer "employee pricing" on it. Works every time. One downside to the Mazda 6 is the gas mileage isn't that great. The 35 MPG average is way off. I've taken it on the road a couple of times already and the average gas mileage I've been getting on the road is about 30 MPG.

Even on the base trim, the interior does not disappoint (my friend just got a 2020 GTI and my interior is s till nicer than) and the manual is so much fun to shift. I've put a lot of miles on my 2018 (uh, 38k currently) and the car has been absolutely, flawless since I got it 2 years ago. Amazing review as usual, Joe. So glad you got to finally review the 6!
That's what a sedan suppose to look like, not with fastback or sportback. If I want that look I would have gotten a coupe. I pick the 6 over the three competitors you have mentioned. Another great review Joe, stay safe.

I don't know why this car doesn't sell. So much better looking than the Accord and the over designed Camry. No car maker at this price point has that color. Beautiful interior. I guess the one knock is the infotainment center
Great video, thank you!! Wow very interesting seeing how the Mazda badge logo has been incorporated into the front chrome piece. Nice job Mazda on the interior!!
Mazda always nail their interiors, especially in Stone leather. In UK, the weakness is the poor 150/165 non-turbo G engines, only reason i got rid of my CX-5 after 18 months. Get a lot of options for the money. HUD/Bose Audio are excellent features as std on the higher trims.
This is easily the prettiest of the bunch. And that interior looks like it belongs to a premium European sedan. Hopefully the material are more durable. Would take this over the camry, accord or that Hyundai.

"Impressive"! I'm quite familiar with their CX, SUV line, so this is my first look at their sedan line. I agree the dash is dated in design, however, the materials used are quite nice. HUD, is a nice touch. Is the drivetrain, front, rear, or offered AWD, for this model? I agree with Tom, I'd still probably take the Honda. Great review, better than I expected, and would most likely get a second look, once an updated version, is released. 👍 🏁🏁
You an Optima over tha mazda 6. You need your head checked. Inside that car looks old and stale. Weak sounds system. Driving dynamics are leaps and bounds above the Optima
I disagree with this man. I am so bored with my Mazda. They never need waxing (the red color). I never get to see my dealer like when I had Cadillacs (24 times in 3 years). I don't know what to do with the extra $52,000 that I saved buying the Mazda instead of the Cadillac CT6. I tire after always beating Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, and a Harley off the light (with that little 2.5 l engine). OK...I love the cover on the cup holder.
Any REAL reason to get a 2021 over a 2020? Local dealership has 1 of each both with no miles (so the 2020 was just delivered with the 2021)... I use Android, so no need for wireless Apple CarPlay. Would love your opinion.
Isn’t the 2020 the last version of this model; the 2021 being vastly reconfigured? I’m a big Mazda fan, but like the difference between the 2018 and 2019 Mazda 3, it would be an honorable thing to let consumers know about significant pending model changes.
I currently own a mazda 2010s with the V6 3.7L. Im currently using a 2019 mazda 6 base model as a loaner from the dealer and i love it. I wonder if the signature model is as fun and powerful as my 2010 6s touring plus. They shouldve added AWD like they did with the cx9
Car & Driver has the Accord on their 10Best list, for how it drives. I prefer how the Mazda6 looks inside and out. Mazda is working on a new inline-6 hybrid for the next Mazda6, and likely a V8 hybrid for the next CX-9, with electric motors for the front wheels for all wheel drive. Toyota will help with the inline-6, and likely use it for the next Supra instead of the existing BMW engine.
Wait My Lovelies for the 2022 MAZDA 6 with Vision show car type styling and a new 6 cylinder engine and hopefully the new SkyactiveX supercharged technology. ZOOM! ZOOM! My tongue is already hard just thinking about it.
Beautiful car. Would rather get this over a Lexus with a grille that makes me puke. I've owned Mazda's in college. Their NA 4 cylinders are the best in class for power and reliability, although City MPG is not that good. I eventually handed my 3 over to mom and dad so that they had a 2nd car, and got a Malibu Hybrid because I needed something more efficient & comfortable for commuting to the city (our roads suck). But every time I drive his car, I get a taste of what I'm missing.
So basically the deal with the torque number being so much more than the hp number (and 310 ft lbs at low RPMs too) means it's tuned to basically "feel" like you have a V-6 (smooth power) over high revving, "jumpy", high strung turbo 4? I'm asking. Seems like I've heard reviewers say it "feels" like a 6 cylinder--kind of smooth power without much turbo lag? Exactly how much quicker does a BMW 540i (inline six with about 340 hp/340 torque) feel? This Mazda comes within 30 ft pounds on the torque number but is 90 hp lower. Then there is the rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive issue. Does the BMW feel WAY faster or this Mazda comes close?
It is great and nice looking car I have one it is give you laxury feeling ♥️, I am one from your subscibers I watching this video from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦❤️. Thank you for this nice mazda Review
So Tom (camera man?) answers the question when he picks the Accord. What say you? Seriously, I think your viewers would like to hear your opinion! I personally think, while an older design that's clearly on the way out, the exterior styling is pretty "timeless." Kudos to Mazda for sticking with a good design for many years. "If it ain't broke..." The Mazda 3 on the other hand seems to get a re-design every other year! Dated infotainment aside, what I've seen/read in virtually every other review, is that Mazda has lost it's driving dynamics edge to its primary competitors in the Accord and even the Camry. It used to be a foregone conclusion that if you wanted a sharp handling...anything...you went with a Mazda. Now it seems that Honda and Toyota have tightened up the "business ends" of their sedans, Mazda has some legit competition in that department. And once you lose that advantage, what do you have left? Luxurious interiors with dated infotainment, smallest cargo areas and trunks in class (something midsize sedan buyers DEFINITELY care about)? I personally give the exterior styling advantage to the 6 still. But in the ever-shrinking category of mid-sized sedans, the competition is fiercer than ever. It's no wonder that Mazda is going in a totally different direction with the redesign. "If you can't compete, get out of the kitchen?" (okay, that was a weird mixed metaphor, but you get what I'm saying.) Would have loved to hear your opinion on some of these points.
@@RaitisRides tough choice Raiti's Rides, Camry's interior materials are cheap. Hard plastics everywhere. Bose sounds system is better than most luxury cars, and the drive is leagues past the Camry. Mazda has rear heated seats, drivers memory, best HUD in the business and very quiet on the road
Its fine, but why the hell it has to be pushed into bigger and bigger size. This car is fine for long journey, but not sure about daily usage with oversized proportions. Volvo S60 is great stylish well balanced car.
in all seriousness, my family owned a 2013 CX-5 (AWD, which we don't need where we live), and did not have a single problem in almost 4 years of owning it (bought it used). just traded it for a new cx-9, which is awesome, but we were sad to say goodbye to the 2013 CX-5. The 2013 CX-5 mommy car that brought our son home from the hospital was also awesome. we also have a 2017 Mazda 6. None of our 3 Mazdas has ever made a single rattle or had a single problem in nearly 5 years of ownership. All are fun to drive. The new 250 hp/310 torque turbo engine is awesome. The huge CX-9 feels very quick with that engine. I bet the Mazda 6 with that engine feels FAST. I haven't had the chance to drive one yet. Mazda makes super solid vehicles 100% made in Japan. My wife's sister had an old 1980s mazda with about 400,000 miles on it and it was still working when she finally sold it. Edit: the Mazda 6 is a "big" car and "bigger" than the CX-5, which is smaller even though an SUV if you look closely. But CX-5 is easier to get in and out of, easier to put groceries in trunk (hatch back), better visibility. Do you want an SUV (mommy car) or sedan (daddy car)?

Nice review Joe! Stay Safe!
I own my second Mazda 6 they have good quality with good safety features.Especially the current models are safe. But more power is nedded
Overall great car. Awesome review Joe 👍
I love when he uses Twinkies to tell the size of something 😂 keep up
Ah yes a felt lined rear arm rest pocket, perfect, so I don't scratch my skittles lmao
Love your videos , good job!
Isn’t the 2020 the last version of this model; the 2021 being vastly reconfigured? I’m a big Mazda fan, but like the difference between the 2018 and 2019 Mazda 3, it would be an honorable thing to let consumers know about significant pending model changes.
They make the best red paint
But thats it
Love midsize..and compact car reviews. Great work. What are you doing, 10, 12 videos a day? Check out the stamina!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
Best option is to buy one used. As resale value is low for mazda, you can get good deal on it
I want oneee but they didn't have soul red and machine grey in stock
That is a color to wait for Pierce!
Real hard choice between the 2020 Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve, or the Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus or Limited
I am going Mazda.
when appropriate, would you be able to drive a skyactiv-X 3 in the future? that motor is fascinating, would be interested in your analysis.
I will get that together for you!
The Mazda 6 is a great sedan for the price. I would like to have it in black. 😎
Mopar Tom you have good taste!
Wait My Lovelies for the 2022 MAZDA 6 with Vision show car type styling and a new 6 cylinder engine and hopefully the new SkyactiveX supercharged technology. ZOOM! ZOOM! My tongue is already hard just thinking about it.
Yes, I'm buying one!
Thanks for sharing that input and perspective!
What’s the deal with the torque curve?! Does it have any top end power??
this is not related to this video but which one would you go for, Acura RDX Tech Package vs Lexus RX350? Thanks love the quarantine content!
all 2020 btw
I'm torn between this and a Kia Stinger GT2. Do people think that 10K more is worth it for the stinger, or should I get the mazda?
If you want a RWD based performance vehicle, the Stinger. If you want a near-luxury comfortable sedan that still has more than enough power, the Mazda
CPO stinger I'd say
Negative ghost Rider 😂. Ol skool reply. Hadn't heard that in awhile Mr Joe. Nice review too. Mazda 6 is nice
Your not making paper airplanes 😂
Thanks for letting me share some laughs!
It is great and nice looking car I have one it is give you laxury feeling ♥️,
I am one from your subscibers I watching this video from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦❤️.
Thank you for this nice mazda Review
Does this come with factory remote start, and how's the headroom with sunroof?
Have you done a review and a drive with the VW Atlas Cross Sport Sel R Line? The color I like is I believe Turmiline Blue! (Navy Blue)?
I love unscratched skittles 😆😆😆
The tablet is too small, inside the cabin pretty plain, don’t like the steering wheel design, and the push to start button is awkwardly placed
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
I got one and i love it
I cant fault it
Grill looks like an infinity one.
Now for my next car I'm torn between the Mazda 6 and the Toyota Camry.
It's a tough choice.
That 6 will stand out. You see Camry's everywhere, but the 6 will capture attention in a way I do not think an camry, or accord for that matter would.
Its fine, but why the hell it has to be pushed into bigger and bigger size. This car is fine for long journey, but not sure about daily usage with oversized proportions. Volvo S60 is great stylish well balanced car.
nice car no doubt.soul red more money thou.2.5 turbo is used in alot of mazdas line.
I can’t decide if I want a 6 or the Cx-5. This car seems so much more roomier and comfy compared to the cx-5. If only it came in AWD..
What did you end up getting?
CX-5 is mommy car. Mazda 6 sedan is daddy car. Both are great and have a role to play.
in all seriousness, my family owned a 2013 CX-5 (AWD, which we don't need where we live), and did not have a single problem in almost 4 years of owning it (bought it used). just traded it for a new cx-9, which is awesome, but we were sad to say goodbye to the 2013 CX-5.
@@jeffreydonner7632 I'm getting my 2017 Cx-5 G.T with the premium package this weekend! I actually feel it's a very bachelor/lone wolf type of vehicle myself. I like its masculine appearance.
