I saw Millie's look yesterday and all I could think was how old she looked. Like she's 18 and she easily looks like she's in her mid-to-late 20s. There's nothing wrong with looking any age but she's so young, I feel like she's missing out on all the opportunities she has to wear big statement pieces and to have fun with her style. I've yet to see a red carpet look from her that has been memorable for a good aspect. I know that her looks are probably straight from her stylist but she needs to see that she obviously needs to find someone who will give her great looks that we'll be able to remember for more than a few minutes.
I would always look forward to award season to watch red carpets live… but the commenters are not analytical at all… they just blindly praise everything very superficially… and lately Luke has been covering carpets so fast, that I don’t even mind catching them live… I’ve just been waiting for Luke’s video, and that’s very helpful in my life hahah
Everytime I see Millie on red carpet, I think either “wtf you still haven’t fired your stylist?” or “ can you wear something that matches your youthful energy?”
totally agree, in a statement piece like that it could easily backfire and swallow you up but I feel like it's very clear that he wears that coat well, it doesn't wear him.
I really hate that Millie is constantly in outfits + makeup that legit make her look 40, she's a kid still, she's only 18, her team could easily come up with something creative and fun, not this 🥴
I never had any interest in fashion, but I really do not complain to hear Luke talk about it. In fact, I love it. He makes me see and understand things.

It always blows my mind just how much you clearly know about fashion history and references. Like, a lot of people critique fashion but I don't see many people who can actually talk the talk and justify their views.
another stunning detail about ariana debose’s look is that it’s absolutely a subtle nod to method dressing in accordance with her character from west side story ;))
@HauteLeMode Millie Booby Brown's look is referencing Paul Poiret's tunic dresses before the first world war. Specifically the lampshade dress. It's a very blink and you'll miss it fashion moment. When the Edwardians relaxed and the regimentalism of 1915 took over.
Gaga served!! I think she looked so stunning 🖤 And Millie actually, even though I am not her fan, can’t deny..the outfit was very interesting and gorgeous
Gaga-divine, fit and style beautiful. Millie looked like she was wearing a high school sewing group project and they could not edit it into a cohesive style. Shameful. Simone in Valentino is beautiful, but feels personal to her style, I look forward to more from her! Ariana is the winner for me, the fit, the fit the fit. She looked like confident and beautiful, Gaga a close second.
With the yellow dress with the flower, I wish it the flower had been right above the slit so it seemed like the pleats were coming from it and the slit too, to me it would make more sense
I would love so much if one day you would do a 'Fantasy Fashion' video ahead of a big event/event season. Picking out brands/collections/looks that you would love to see on the red carpet, and who you'd like to see it on...
Millie’s dress totally look 1910s-1920s inspired. The wide plunging neckline with lacy band underneath, even the peplum at the waist with a column skirt below. All elements from that timeframe.
I felt the exact same about Milly Bobbie Brown's look... then I squinted at it and realized that what really made it an almost for me was the silhouette. If it was just a little bit bolder (something more halter-y for the top or something more dramatic) on the bottom I would have probably loved it? Her hair, though, was just a tragedy. Naomi Cambell's I appreciated cuz she looked like she'd actually be warm.
Honestly...if Lady Gaga became a fashion designer I'd have enough joy for the rest of my life😩. She has the vision and artistry already, it would be a seamless transition into the fashion realm if she did start designing.
I absolutely loved Gaga’s look - it’s absolutely giving crow vibes, the dress pattern paired with the feathers on the bag, it was the first thing that came to my mind
Ariana Debose's dress felt like it connected with her character in West Side Story, her big song "America." She wore a yellow dress with these red layers beneath the skirt.
love Luke lots because he called out the wrinkles on the first dress😂😂😂. idk why but the moment that shot showed up I was just fixated on those wrinkles 😂😂😂
I think Rebel is just re-finding herself. Her weight was made to be part of her identity in Hollywood* (e.g. Fat Amy in PP) and now she's changed physically she's trying to find what feels good for her. She looks very happy and I thought she looked good. *(whole other essay about women and toxic beauty standards etc...)
THIS. A simple search would have led him toward the correct pronunciation. It’s extremely unprofessional and just downright disrespectful to continue to mispronounce someone’s name. If you can learn the correct pronunciation of Catriona Balfe, you can do the same with Ariana DeBose.
It’s so funny, one of the contestants on Project Runway did a sheer look, similar to the Givenchy look and Christian Siriano said the designer couldn’t send a look like that down the runway because it was vulgar. Another reason I eye roll Project Runway 😂🤣😂
I feel like Millie’s look takes reference from Paul Poiret as a lot of his silhouettes had multi layers like this (sometimes skirts and dresses, sometimes a harem trouser beneath a thigh length dress). Her hair might also take a 20’s inspiration but being as her hair is so short it doesn’t work so well.
Luke, Yet, another super assessment. I really enjoy your commentary: professional, well-informed, articulate, entertaining. A real departure from other hyper-sensationalized fashion commentary. You are a CLASS ACT!
ok now that Luke had me focus on Millie's dress and not her overall look, I have to admit it's not a bad outfit. but goodness, she's 18, who made her look 48?
If I remember correctly, the Critic's Choice Awards were supposed to be on the same day as the Golden Globes but because of the c*vid spike they were pushed back. And after they were pushed back the BAFTA date came out and ended up being the same date, but since the Critic's Choice was already pushed back they didn't want to do it again. So, we got a two-fer.
Sebastian Stan's shirt was actually metal grommets and metal rings and not embroidery which makes it even nicer....just thought you would like to know....love all your videos...keep up the fantastic work!!!!
That Emma Watson look was just OdlR trying to yassify that Laura Dern look from last year and failing miserably. They also made that Laura Dern dress!! How did they fuck up this badly.
I think we need Hautemerch with your "Haute-isms" printed all over. A scarf with "Gorg!Stun!Exciting!Fun!" a Tee that says "Strange!Cooky!Different!" "This is a moment"
I absolutely love the detailing of the folding and interweaving of your collar with the rest of your trench coat. I don't know if it was intentional (given your comment about wrinkles and not having a stylist), but it looks like a very refined presentation of what most people would just throw on, wrap and tie.
Whenever I watch Luke's videos, and he uses the bag background, I always stare (trying to guess the brands), the first is undoubtedly Valentino Garavani, 2nd is Prada but that's only cause I saw the Prada triangle, otherwise I wouldn't have known, the style/design isn't easily identifiable like Valentino. The last one escapes me but the color scheme is giving me Loewe (or JW Anderson which would make sense) or Chloé.... someone clarify.... I need to know lol.
At least once an ep I feel like Luke hits us with such a universal gem. *"That could also just be me making things up in my head... but listen..."* 👁️👄👁️ Me too, Luke. Me too, in almost every scenario.
I don’t understand Millie’s look either but the biggest mystery to me is why they did her hair like that
her hair committed heinous crimes to my vision
Her hair stylist must be Stevie Wonder
She's also 18 yrs old... why do they keep doing her makeup and styling to make her look twice her age???
She looked so aged I had trouble recognizing her. Why would you want to look 40 at 18?
@@SueYisoSueet yes exactly!
I saw Millie's look yesterday and all I could think was how old she looked. Like she's 18 and she easily looks like she's in her mid-to-late 20s. Somehow she always wear something that gives opposite vibes to her characteristics.
She’s always styled so mature. It’s so odd
in the thumbnail I hardly recognized her she looked like an 30 something lady, I just cant believe make up and dressing can make someone look so old
I like the dress but her make up and haircut just makes her look old
No. I saw a picture of her yesterday and she looked 35 years old. A haggard 35 years old...no joke
Those interviewers probably on some brand’s payroll
Everytime I see Millie on red carpet, I think either “wtf you still haven’t fired your stylist?” or “ can you wear something that matches your youthful energy?”
Honestly, I've never seen her "youthful energy". She's always seemed way older than she is.
Daniel just looks so powerful with this coat, and I don’t think it’s only the outfit, it’s his king energy. I loved it as soon as I saw it on him
Totally
totally agree, in a statement piece like that it could easily backfire and swallow you up but I feel like it's very clear that he wears that coat well, it doesn't wear him.
He really nailed this moment
I really hate that Millie is constantly in outfits + makeup that legit make her look 40, she's a kid still, she's only 18, her team could easily come up with something creative and fun, not this 🥴
I remember she talked once about people say about her outfits and tell people to mind their own business.
lady gaga just radiates old hollywood glamour energy
IKR! shulda attended last year's Met Gala with that ugh
I never had any interest in fashion, but I really do not complain to hear Luke talk about it. In fact, I love it. He makes me see and understand things.

Florence Pugh’s dress is cute but how much self tanner does she need??? I did *not* recognize her until her name was said.
Same with Emma Watson. Is this a trend? I don't like it
I don't think the style flattered her at all. 😬
another stunning detail about ariana debose’s look is that it’s absolutely a subtle nod to method dressing in accordance with her character from west side story ;))
Yes! I saw that too - those colours are amazing on her
Millie was done so so wrong. Her glam squats made her look 40. She deserves an apology.
Salma Hayek is giving queen in a disney original vibes and I'm loving it
Yep. She's real diva!!!!!!
LUKE this trench is literally stunning i am obsessed
also ariana debose's dress was a reference to a dress her character anita wore on west side story!

Simone Ashley is quickly turning into a new celebrity crush. Tall, dark and gorgeous.
Gaga served!! I think she looked so stunning 🖤 And Millie actually, even though I am not her fan, can’t deny..the outfit was very interesting and gorgeous
Gagas breasts look saggy and flattened out like she's getting a mammogram...not a good look
@@phillipgalan660 get over yourself phillip. Her breasts have always looked like this and we're not here to bash women's bodies
Simone Ashley's look is so great, I'm such a fan of that Valentino collection.
emma watson had potential bc she’s had some good looks in the past but her dress looked like a bad version of the swan dress
Is there a good version of the swan dress?
also the hair is just not right. not sure what they were going for with this whole look.
I like her but most of her red carpet looks have always been ehhhhh or just plain ugly

Your knowledge of fashion history is very impressive. When you referenced Mary Quant I swooned. Brilliant job!

That "cream"blue trench coat is EVERYTHING!!!!!! I'm in love with it
Love LOVE Simone Ashley’s look and can’t wait to see her in Bridgerton season 2!
Millie’s dress totally look 1910s-1920s inspired. The wide plunging neckline with lacy band underneath, even the peplum at the waist with a column skirt below. All elements from that timeframe.
the blue coat u are wearing is beautiful
The wrinkles on the bottom of the LV dress killed it for me. What stylist let her out the van like that. There are portable steamers. Ughh why?
Yeah that always bothers me, makes the fabric look cheap to me lol

I think Catriona Balfe looks stunning. She looks so classy. There is a beauty in simplicity
I thank the lord for the explore page cos it introduced me to your channel. I could LITERALLY listen to you ALL day talking about FASH-ION😘😘😘

Millie Bobbi Brown’s stylist ALWAYS make her look tooooo old. She’s still a teen. But she pays someone to dress her and they need to do a better job.

I like Millie’s dress, it’s original. Reminds me of my witchy friends who wear multiple skirts and layers at once a la Stevie Nicks in a way.
Yes it’s just the make up and hairstyle
Cute jacket Luke!! Great video as always

Why do they always dress Millie that makes her look like she’s 30-40 y/o?? Is it the makeup?
The hair wasn't helping, so bad
wait LUKE this look!!!

I personally didn’t hate Rebel Wilson’s dress I thought it was very Giamba
I actually love Millie’s look. It reminds me a lot of 1910s fashion (the combination of the lace and the kind of layered look)
This beautiful rich blue coat looks amazing on you! You know what, I want to wear a trench with a turtleneck today as well
