- This 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD High Country took a hard hit. It was worthy of being totaled and parted out. This seller had other ideas. Let's take a look at the amount of work they put into hiding the damage to take advantage of an unsuspecting bidder and then follow it through the auction to see the selling price. 1GC4YVEY8LF179539

I said these awhile back, but you would make an outstanding complete auto and collision repair master instructor and also the school owner. Just saying allot of young folks could be taught correctly. I think with your sense of humor, classes would be a blast.
I agree! I've learned a ton of stuff from watching Scott.
Agree as well
It really should have sold for about 5K and gone to Pick-n-Pull. No way should that truck ever be put back on the road.
But if you do it wrong, to the pile you get tossed!😅
I think perhaps a lot of today's youth would make Scott pull his hair out. Oh, uh
$30K? I'm at a loss for words. 😦
It’s a High County.
Whoever pays $30k will be at a loss for profits too.
@@TyphoonVstrom hey, Zeus...this is more "add a zero" than a bring a trailer auction!
Lost for words, maybe I can help you out there.... *faaaaaaaark!* 😲
You'd be surprised what people bid sh!t up to.....
That is absolutely insane that they would want $30K for that truck.
I hope things are progressing with your shop so that you can get back to rebuilds. In the meantime, these doctored vehicle videos are interesting and informative.
The pinstripe must be an inside joke with these outstanding gentlemen.
They probably bought a used fender with a stripe and thought it would be easier to do the other panels than remove it. *Morons*
or a way to make the panels look a little more lined up.... either way, CROOKS!
That deliberate deception should be criminal. Regardless of their intention - it's obvious that a serious attempt was made to lessen the appearance of the damage severity. I'd love to see pics from the bottom. Front suspension and diff are likely wasted. Would not be shocked to see a bent driveshaft or fractured leaf springs/U bolts. Even if the engine is usable I'd imagine that heavy diesel drivetrain wasn't too kind to all the casting bosses and mounting points when it spontaneously changed direction.
GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK, HOPE YOU GET YOUR OWN GARAGE SIR
I'm thinking the pinstriping was on one of the replacement panels and they did the rest of the truck to match?
I think pinstriping it straight draws the eye away from the wonky body lines. Have a look at the striping- it is not even on the panels relative to body lines.
But then why did they spray over the pinstripe on the left rear fender?
But they still farktit up in the left door with it being out of a alignment. 🤦♂
The list of replacement parts is far longer then the list of reusable parts...frame, cab, nose...I bet the only usable parts on this thing are the rear end, interior, less seatbelt and the tailgate.I am in total agreement with you on the engine and trans...even if the trans wasn't obviously broken its been so overstressed I still wouldn't use it.
Lots of scrap in this pile.
Merican scrap
Rattle can paint OVER a badly added pinstripe is epic! Thanks for keeping the dose of your sense of humor and your wisdom coming while (I hope) your shop gets put back together!
I spoke to my corner shop eastern Canada, inquiring about them finding me some wheels ( a beater winter truck). Just something reliable, pure utilitarian.
They said that the available cars at auction was very thin. Like the various scenarios you describe, it very difficult for a shop to acquire a used vehicle, make it road worthy, safe and as reliable as an older vehicle can be.
Up here, the professional business of obtaining and providing vehicles for local customers is not a good situation.
The bed alignment on passenger side looked better before they touched it
Theses videos are great, we miss your repairs videos and hope you’re back up and running again soon but until then I enjoy watching you highlight these messes. Can’t believe the seller paid that much for it to start with
I hope your videos of these criminals are putting a massive dent (pun intended) in their business model.
*Thank You* for these videos Scott; most appreciated! 👍👍
The pinstripe cracks me up!! Great job on these videos! Thank you for making people more aware!
Especially the paint over part. 😁🤦♂
They peeled off the "Don't tread on me sticker".
That alone tells me enough about these jokers
Man Scottie you have eyes of an eagle . There is always something to learn watching your videos .
I fell a victim to this Exact Truck this morning!! Watching the auctions this had come across and I threw a winning bid in at $5300. Shortly after winning i googled the vin and came across this video and my Heart Dropped in to my stomach and then into my A$$. THANK THE LORD my winning bid of $5300 was rejected by the seller. This should be a crime!!!!
Exactly what I thought also. 5k truck at best. Expensive parts to rebuild
I enjoy these - it's kind of fun to look at the pictures you are showing and see things that have been previously pointed out in other rigs.
Thank you Scott! I hope you & yours have a great weekend! Thanks for your wisdom and insight. Can’t wait for a shop update, but know you’ll do it when the time is right. Take care 😊
Enjoying these videos, add my wishes for good news on your shop.
What gets me is how the bed looks so much more misaligned the 2nd go around, that and the hood being pushed up when the front bumper looked like it wasn't pushed back stood out immediately to me
I really am liking these videos. Really great information. Thank You for the tips on finding the before pic of the vehicles and more details on how many times the car has been flipped on the auction. I have bought a free rebuilders . You have made me way smarter and likely saved me thousands of dollars.
Thank you for keeping the content coming, educational, informative with a sprinkle of your infectious humour. How's things going mate? Are you moving forward with your workshop?
Happy Saturday, Scott!🍻 Good to see you drop another video. Weird not having a Friday one! Can't wait until you are back to do rebuilds again.
The under hood picture tells the story. Pinstriping with spray paint over it was a rookie move for sure.
I'm really enjoying these videos, the first thing I noticed was the pinstripe missing on the original pictures. Keep up the great videos. ✌🏻
Good job Scott & I hope your Garage is back up & running soon, good luck 👍
Glad to still see you online thanks for not vanishing
Easy fix! New cab, frame, bed, front clip and suspension, firewall forward wiring harness, various plastics for engine bay. Just like new!
I was going to go into my subscription list to make sure you were still posting scott, nice to see you again, greetings from Ireland
look though past videos. His shop caught fire.
Thanks for keeping the content coming.
Absolutely stunning that this is allowed to happen.
Thanks for helping us out with this kind of a crazy makeup and Sell Auction stuff!!
Hopefully you are well things together after the Big Fire!!
All the best from Surrey BC Canada
Thanks. Love your videos and your great narration.
thank you for trying to help people althoe some people are so stunned they dont want to believe it cant wait till next one thanks scott
What amazed me actually is that the bed was worse in the after... shifted over further. You would think that they would take a few minutes to try to make the box line up so that it looks better, instead it was even further off the frame in the after shots... so all the bed bolts are broken off?
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
WOW!I can buy a decent interior and 3 (maybe) good wheels for ONLY $30,000?What a deal! Thanks Scott for showing us the slimy underbelly of auction vehicles.
The buy it fast price means nothing and is just a place holder.
hey you get at least 3 usable windows, the rear windshield. the tail lights, bed liner. that is a bargain for $30k
Good to see your still caring about people been a minute keep up the great work:)
The used parts had pinstripes so they added it to match.
Thanks for the video Scott.
30 grand for a truck with a bent up frame? LOL
In most cases still worth fixing. But this is destroyed. I’ve seen trucks with bent frame due to suspension damage. I’d go to the dealer pick up a frame and swap it over. Make a quick buck little to no paint and bodywork required. But this truck is only for parts. No way it’s worth fixing
but only one owner!
Love your humour loved the video thanks, hope you get a workshop soon thank you 😊
man hope you get a shop soon miss your vids outstanding work even without zipties and drywall screws
Hope all is well for you after the little "incident". Thanks for all your content.
GREAT STUFF very informative...
Just keep the videos coming regardless which topic it is. I enjoy all the topics.
Another great video thank you for your experience.
Just looking at the second doctored photo, it looks like severe frame damage from a very bad left front impact. We'll see when we get to the original photos.
The front end decided to migrate from the United States to Canada 😮

Good social service so people don’t get scammed. Hope u get a shop soon. Keep the videos coming.
Great insight Scott! All buyers should see your "looking at cars". Head rubs for the Supervisor!! Cheers for the Pizza lady! Rich
Thank you for posting the video 👍💯
I do miss your expert rebuilds & unique commentary. I will be here when you get back to doing what you do. Good luck
Keep these videos coming and please open your own shop. We need an update on the burnt shop. Hope all is well and cheers from Missouri
Pinstripe was put on because the front fender is from a lower model.. those probably had stripes on them. So they had to continue on.
99% of the time pinstripe removal is far easier. Only exception is if it is buried under clear coat and I''m not aware of an OEM pinstripe.
Keep it up..... this is helpful info for builders thrybg to make a living wothout being taken. lots of crooks out there.
I'm wondering if it was parked. No airbags on that much of a hit.
You are doing good deeds for people who try to rebuild cars , God bless you Scott
Hod bless you as well friend!
@@jaya.0069sorry I corrected it
You do important work with these videos you deserve more attention
Love these types of videos!
You teach me something new every time I watch
Good lessons learned, purely entertainment and thanks for the heads up🤗😎🤗😎
Wow! That truck was destroyed! If it wasn't for the previous purchase history, nobody would ever know how this truck was doctored up. Hopefully these people lose enough where they will be out of business. Another great video!
Parts only vehicle!
Maybe they got a used fender and it came with a pin stripe, so they just striped the rest of the truck to match.
Good to see you back States need to do more to keep this junk off the road
This video was bad ass ...keep them coming
Looking at the original photos confirms the severe frame damage. With the price they are asking, by the time the truck was repaired, it would end up costing more than the truck was worth. Might be economical at the price they paid for it originally? Here in Australia, that truck would be a Statutory Write-off, which equals a Parts Title. So no way it would get repaired here in Australia and the scammers would not be able to do what they are doing.
bought the only thing i see usuable on this truck is the interior and the 3 wheels and tires and tailgate everything else is scrap
@@johnc27might be able to reuse the front bash guard.
Love these videos 📹
It’s been said, the Ranch Hand bumper like on the front require higher impact to activate airbags.
Very cool series!
I was recently in an accident similar to this but not at this speed. However, the insurance still totaled out the vehicle even though the airbags did not deploy as well.
The pinstripe was a nice touch.
Wow that thing was parts only the way it looked. So not including the original mileage is another way to deceive prospective buyers? Thx good to see your videos again!!! Hope things are starting to work out for you
In the original photos the bed was not sticking out as bad on the passenger side! My guess is the did such a hack job straightening out the frame that it shifted over! It would need an entire new frame in my opinion! Plus engine transmission and body panels!
I like seeing the before and after.. People know how to scam others who don't know what they're looking at.
.
It actually looked better after the wreck then it did when they "doctored" it up. I'm assuming the pin stripe is to give the allusion that things are still aligned.
One thing was blatantly obvious to me from a number of angles and surprisingly not promoted by the seller is that the trailer hitch survived unscathed. lol .. Thanks for this interesting video.
Great video
Great video.
a lot of resources online available..a lot of these dealer doctored cars aren't selling anymore...
I'd bid $1500 on it.
love your videos.
Keep up the good work
Just had to drop in and give you the thumbs up
Oh you for got other tool to repair this Truck…. Jb weld!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 and drywall screws ziptie and bubble gum… man I love watching your videos keep them
Coming!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
*I'm surprised you did not understand why they put the pin striping on* So if the pin striping was on before the wreck, you would have seen a misalignment of 2-4 inches, which would show the real damage, SO, they put the pin striping on and slightly misaligned it on purpose to UNDERPLAY the real misalignment / damage, a person would look at the pin striping and say to themselves that it's just a minor panel realignment, after all it's ONLY half inch off! THAT IS WHY they painted over the pin striping on the rear bed, making it look like it was always there.
Now you’ve got me stuck trying to think why this wouldn’t be the right explanation, and I’m stuck. Wow. That’s crazy like a fox.
What’s the saying though? Don’t ascribe to brilliance what can be explained by stupidity? Tough call here. But at 50 a week, I’m suspicious you’re right.
Reminds me of a refugee from a state fairgrounds tough truck competition.
That was a very sharp looking vehicle before it played a game of bumper cars. Needs new cab, bed, engine & trans and frame. Sounds like new truck time. :)
I am willing to bet this also needs a front diff housing as that much sideways push, it no doubt drove that CV shaft into the housing and cracked that front housing.
If the truck was parked when hit, airbags might not deploy. Since it was side hit, it’s not evident it was rolling.
Nice job, man.
That's someone's nightmare. The pin strip gets me. LoL
Wow, that took a hard hit. Parts truck at best. But not for the price they want.
Excellent video series Scott. Don't know how this truck could be rebuilt and still bring the repairman much to any kind of profit?
That door reminds me of the Top Gear episode where Jeremy duct taped the replacement van door on.
It looks like they broke the windshield while doctoring this one up.
Digging it Scott. I wonder if the Bullguard bumper freaked out the air bag sensors?
If it was hit while parked with the ignition off, the airbags wouldn’t have gone off.
great video
