Reminds me of a suspiciously cheap Honda CRV I was looking into buying. Its Carfax said no accidents reported. Struggled to start, and once it did, the metal on metal grinding noise when it's low on oil was obvious. Test drive, shifted too late and shifted VIOLENTLY. The body shop manager where I work at had a field day with it. Hiding evidence that it had been in at least two bad wrecks (rear ended and T boned) and put together poorly. Driveshaft was shoved forward into the transmission and it was leaking oil pretty good. It looked good on the outside though
OMG, in my 22 years working at one of the larger auto auctions, this is about the worst example of "what never to bid on" I've ever seen!! Thanks for the vid!!!
I'm confused...Is this an online auction only? There is no way anyone would pay that money if they saw the wrecked turd in person. Wondering how the auction was worded...
@@scottysgarage4393 It's 50/50. If you want to put the effort in to get a bit more for your piece of crap at the risk of potentially having it a few months longer you try to sell it yourself. If that's too much of a hassle you'll give it to the dealer as a tradein for $ExpectedAuctionPrice - $TransportCost and they'll dump it in an auction.

This video series has been great. Following all your how-to tips I've been averaging an extra $2000 on each scam car I run thru the auction. Nail polish is great for hiding the drywall screw heads for pictures. Thanks for the support !
That steering column collapse can be explained easily - I had an offset head on crash in 2007 with a 17yo street racer. I was doing around 70km/h (44mph) with maybe 2 car lengths of braking before impact. I was holding the wheel, and wearing my seat belt. Despite the airbags and pre-tensioners going off, I didn’t actually hit the airbag - I watched my glasses hit the airbag in front of me, and then fall to the floor. I got friction burns on my forearms from the deployment! Because I was still holding the wheel, I pushed it in far enough to operate both the wands - the high beam flash stayed on, and the washer pump stayed running until I turned the ignition off. I reckon it moved the wheel a good 4 inches in closer to the dash. It caused me some tendon damage in my left thumb, and broke my right thumb. I also had numerous broken bones, and a seat belt bruise that lasted 3 weeks and went through 50 shades of purple. And whilst it was 3 months off work and 9 months of physio, the safety systems built into that car saved my life. The front of my car was pushed in about as far as this pickup, and the engine was shoved into the firewall, causing cowl damage just like this one. I think the driver would have been very sore after the impact.
i was in a similar accident !me my grandma and my grandpa was in a bad car accident in the early 00's a car blew a red light and tboned us and our car (1989 oldmobile 88) got pushed all the way across the street into a parked 50's pickup truck that was on the sidewalk... we were ok just a bit sore but we didnt have to go to the hospital or anything but the car was a loss the left rear door was caved in and the entire front of the car was pushed up pretty much to the windshield! im actually surprised it didnt catch on fire! it just let out a little poof of black smoke but nothing else! we came out ok in the end though! and they say cars without safety systems are unsafe! a call bs on that and i would rather be in an old 70's or 80's car if it got crashed !
Up here in Canuckistan, there's easily $15K worth of parts. A local salvage yard charges $500 less than a full rebuild for a used engine. $900 for a cylinder head, etc etc etc. Good rust free truck boxes go for $1500. They wanted $150 for a ford factory radio so I said F that, bought a kenwood for $90
Someone paid over 10K for that auction. Hopefully there are enough parts there to make that money back.. Maybe the computers, interior parts, rear bumper, tailgate, wheels, etc.. I think whoever bought it is going to lose quite a bit.
I took a day to do some work. 8 hour commute for 2 hours of work. Luckily it only rained for 7.9 hours of the commute! I thought this was the sunshine state!
I can't believe that people even try to rebuild these newer vehicles as cheaply as they are building them. Seems to me like all new cars are disposable. One hit wonders. One hit and you wonder how it passed inspection
You sure are doing the unsuspecting buyers of these doctored up wrecks a favour. Are there no car checker companies like Car Vertical stateside? Over here for a reasonable fee you can check the history of a vehicle complete with insurance photos of damage. I don’t know if enough people complain to the auction or it just goes unnoticed. They run 50 or so a week and keep rerunning them so the auction is making money every time.
I've run across this "dealer" many times with vehicles listed on a popular car search website, I have had to report a number of their listings because if they can hide the damage well enough and take poor photos they will falsely list the vehicle as having a "clean" title on their listings to avoid the search filters that will hide branded title vehicles.
Good parts truck. That's it. Unless you have a you tube channel like Roadkill and want to remove the body and make it an off road "frame truck." Just a thought.
Happy Thursday, Scott!🍻 For some reason, I had a feeling you were gonna drop a video today! Now, only if I can harness that feeling for lottery numbers!🤣
This is just as bad as "Wheelz" in Rutland Vermont. The police said Wheelz can do that, even though the brothers admitted they bought a sticker to claim its inspected. Used dealers are JUST as shady as new car dealers.
